Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ARCHER was transferred to GaDaH with his two siblings from a shelter in Texas.     ARCHER is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm/tick tested negative. He is on monthly prevention, microchipped, has an estimated date of birth of 6 December 2021 and at the  time of transport weighed 45 pounds. We have no way of knowing what the actual breed is, so it is up to people to look at the pictures and video's to make up their own mind. ARCHER is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine for an adoption fee of $550.   This adoption fee covers the cost of running a brick and mortar rescue as well as any transport, veterinary, food, treats, toys costs and the many expenses that rescues endure to keep the pets in their care safe, and happy.   Be sure to read all his information and if interested, go to the rescue website to submit an adoption application. https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 After being at the rescue since August 2022, Archer started 2023 by going to stay with a foster family in Maine, however in the middle of February after 7-8 weeks he came back to the rescue as the family hadn't expected to have him that long and things were not working out. Notes from Foster family where Archer was for 7 weeks before coming back to the rescue. Archer has only been here for three weeks but is probably the best foster dog anyone could hope for. He was very nervous at first, and remains uncertain about changes or loud noises but is much better.   He's an active dog but smart and able to reign it in. In the long term, he might prefer a home with a younger dog but in the short term having a quiet environment is allowing him to learn to sit and learn his name with little distraction. He loves to play with Zephyr when Zephyr has the oomph, but will settle for us when he needs to!   He does seem to prefer women (aka, me) but this may be because I'm home all the time and Henry comes and goes. We're going to have a couple people over this week to see if he gravitates towards women who AREN'T me.   He likes walks, but hates leashes. He is learning MUCH faster to walk on a leash than Zephyr ever did. This afternoon we'll take them both down to the lower pastures and let them run in an empty one. He's good at making his own toys and likes things that come apart more than rubbery things that survive his chewing! He loves my kindling pile and will help himself when need be! He is also very good about trying to keep all his toys outside and continues to seem surprised when I tell him he can play inside.   He is not very food driven, but is praise driven and eager to please. He is really smart, learns quickly and is all-round a lovely boy. The rescue buys food in bulk, by the truck load and there are a variety of brands and flavors. None of the food given is less than a 4* food rating. There have not been issues with eating any of the varying foods. It is important that you do your research on the ingredients and speak to your vet or a nutritionist on grain vs grain free! &#226&#128&#139You MUST understand that dogs need time to decompress and adapt to their new environment and home. It is a HUGE transition they make from the kill shelter, being vetted, on transport for 3 days and arriving in Maine where the temperature and such is very different to what they have only known. In rescue there is what is known as the "3 Point Rule" Days 1-3 your dog is stressed, anxious, confused as to where they are now. Weeks 1-3 your dog is adjusting, settling in, learning things. At the 3-month point, your dog understands they are home, and have built up a trusting relationship where they feel loved and secure. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the ADOPTION INFO tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 1-2 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then we can schedule your appointment to come to the rescue in Sebec, Maine for meet/greet/adopt Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx. 8 miles) and approx. 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. CINDERELLA was transferred to GaDaH from a high kill shelter in Texas on 22nd April 2023. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue  YouTube channel  and  photo albums on our Facebook page  to see a LOT of pictures and videos.      CINDERELLA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm/tick tested negative. She is on monthly prevention, microchipped, has an estimated date of birth of 30 December 2019 and at the time of transport weighed 63.6 pounds. We have no way of knowing what the actual breed is, so it is up to people to look at the pictures and video's to make up their own mind. CINDERELLA was picked up as a stray who had been hit by a car and had a broken foot. The foot had already started to heal and a callous formed and so re-setting the break was not possible. It was thought that amputation might be needed, however, the vet decided to give her some time to see how she got on. Cinderella has been with a foster family and has been using her foot, she does run, play and jump and so thankfully amputation was not needed. However, where the break was and callous has formed, will be weaker and it is recommended jumping be limited and supplements to help strengthen her bones be given. The shelter is willing to forward x-rays to the adopters veterinarian who has the software to open the radiographs. She may occasionally need pain meds on cold days or at times when she has been a little too energetic and she will get arthiritis in the future so it is important to discuss with your vet for high quality supplements, food and potential treatments for arthiritis. She does NOT need limited exercise, but it is important to restrict activity such as jumping and such that could cause excess impact on her foot. CINDERELLA is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine for an adoption fee of $550.       This adoption fee covers the cost of running a brick and mortar rescue as well as any transport, veterinary, food,   treats, toys costs and the many expenses that rescues endure to keep the pets in their care safe, and happy.     Be sure to read all the information and if interested, go to the rescue website to submit an adoption application. https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 The rescue buys food in bulk, by the truck load and there are a variety of brands and flavors. Story
Meet Louisa! Louisa is an adult female German shepherd who initially came to Husky House all the way from Qatar! Louisa is a smart, affectionate, and playful dog. She can become stressed when touched or grabbed in unexpected ways and may need time to settle into a new home before guests are brought over. While she generally likes anyone, she meets at Husky House, Louisa builds trust with individuals the more time she spends with them and may do best with multiple meet and greets before going to a forever home. Unfortunately, she has been adopted and returned when the adopters did not listen to advice from Husky House regarding these points. Louisa plays very well with male dogs her size but can be selective with females. She enjoys going for walks and knows Sit and Paw! Please no homes with young/small children, small animals, small dogs or cats. Previous dog experience a must to be considered for adoption. Interested in adopting Louisa? Please visit www.huskyhouse.org today to fill out an application.June 7, 2023, 2:15 pm

Story
Meet Sully! Due to no fault of his own (read his full story HERE on FB), Sully is back in the kennel that he dislikes so much. We have him on medication due to his arthritis, but he has trouble even climbing over the one step to the patio area of his run. He is completely housebroken and will hold it in until he is walked. He is nervous when a new person approaches his kennel, but who can blame him? He knows a lot of commands and will even go “down”, although it hurts him to do it, so we stopped asking him. He’s very good with other dogs his size, but we haven’t tried him with little dogs, and we don’t know about cats. We won’t place him with small children, because they added to his abuse in his first home, and we don’t know if he holds a grudge. He loves to be brushed and pays a little too much attention to squirrels. Sully desperately needs a forever home where he can comfortably spend his golden years. He doesn’t require much - a comfy bed, a few slow walks every day to keep his joints from hurting, and someone who will give him the attention he deserves. Please don’t let the rest of Sully’s life be as unhappy as it’s been so far. Please give him a happy ending to his story. Apply to adopt Sully at www.huskyhouse.orgJune 7, 2023, 2:15 pm

Story
Meet Jenny, a 6-year-old German Shepherd mix who is ready to steal your heart! This gorgeous girl weighs about 50 pounds and is the epitome of love and affection. Jenny's journey began in a kill shelter in Swainsboro, Georgia, where her future looked bleak due to her age and the overcrowded conditions. When she arrived at the shelter, she was heartworm positive, pregnant, and suffering from hip dysplasia. Thankfully, Home for Good Dog Rescue stepped in and saved Jenny's life, giving her a second chance at happiness. Upon rescue, the Veterinarian determined that Jenny did not require surgery to repair her hips as they weren’t causing her any pain. Despite the challenges she faced, Jenny's spirit remained unbroken. Now, Jenny is a shining example of resilience and the power of love. Jenny's warm and gentle nature makes her an ideal companion for anyone looking to add a furry friend to their family. She adores the company of both humans and other dogs, and her friendly nature would make her a great fit for a household with children. Jenny is also housebroken and extremely smart and food motivated. Whether it's snuggling up on the couch or going for leisurely walks, Jenny is always ready to be by your side, offering unwavering love and loyalty. This sweet girl is now ready to find her forever home, where she can be cherished for the rest of her days. If you're looking for a devoted and docile companion who will bring endless joy to your life, look no further than Jenny. Don't miss the opportunity to welcome this extraordinary dog into your heart and home. To adopt Jenny, please visit www.homeforgooddogs.org. Let's give Jenny the happy ending she has been waiting for! Jenny is spayed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped. Given the conditions Jenny originated from, upon rescue, she tested positive for Heartworm disease. Thanks to Home for Good Dog Rescue, Jenny has completed her Heartworm treatment. *Heartworm disease is a serious and if left untreated, fatal disease. It is caused by foot-long worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels of affected animals, causing severe lung disease, heart failure, and damage to other organs in the body. Mosquitoes are carriers of heartworms and have the ability to infect dogs all year round, especially in the Southeastern portion of the United States and during the summer months.* **Please note: completing an "adoption inquiry" via Adopt-a-pet/Petfinder does not constitute an HFG Dog Rescue adoption application. All adoption applications must be completed on www.hfgdr.org** HFG Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue located in Berkeley Heights, NJ with a sister location, The Almost Home Wellness Center, in Aiken, SC. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own. Our fosters begin basic training, housebreaking, and leash-walking skills to help pair you with the perfect pup for life! In order to apply for adoption and set up an individual meet and greet with one of our dogs, please visit us at www.hfgdr.org. Find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/HomeForGoodDogRescue.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. GENE was transferred to GaDaH from a shelter in Texas.  GENE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm/tick tested negative. She is on monthly prevention, microchipped, has an estimated date of birth of 23 May 2022. We have no way of knowing what the actual breed is, so it is up to people to look at the pictures and video's to make up their own mind. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue  YouTube channel  and  photo albums on our Facebook page  to see a LOT of pictures and videos. GENE-Girl an energetic and intelligent Belgian Malinois mix with a zest for life. Despite being a mix breed, Gene-Girl possesses many of the distinctive qualities and needs associated with the Belgian Malinois breed. If you're an active individual or family seeking a devoted companion who thrives on structured exercise, mental stimulation, and training, Gene-Girl might be the perfect match for you. &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl is a spirited and curious dog who approaches every day with enthusiasm. She is highly intelligent and loves to engage in mentally stimulating activities. This clever girl is quick to learn and eager to please, making her an excellent candidate for further training and obedience work. &#226&#128&#139She forms deep bonds with her humans and is known for her loyalty and affectionate nature. As a Belgian Malinois mix, &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl requires an outlet for her abundant energy. She flourishes with plenty of exercise and mental challenges to keep her mind sharp and her body active. Daily walks, jogs, or hikes in nature are essential to meet her exercise requirements. Engaging in activities like agility, obedience training, and interactive play sessions will help channel her energy and ensure she remains a happy and well-balanced companion. &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl is a highly trainable dog, and her intelligence and eagerness to please make her a joy to work with. She already shows promise in basic commands and leash manners, but continued training will help her reach her full potential. With positive reinforcement techniques and consistency, &#226&#128&#139she&#226&#128&#139 will excel in obedience training, providing a rewarding and fulfilling experience for both of you. &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl &#226&#128&#139Bella thrives in an environment where her mental and physical needs are met. She is best suited for an active individual or family who can dedicate time to her exercise regimen and provide mental stimulation through training and interactive play. A securely fenced yard would be beneficial for her to burn off energy safely. While&#226&#128&#139 her mix breed heritage adds uniqueness to her appearance, it's important to understand and cater to her Belgian Malinois instincts and requirements. &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl is great with other dogs, and has lived amongst all ages and sizes since being at the rescue. She does want to chase cats, but more in a curious manner. If you are prepared to embark on a rewarding journey with a remarkable companion, consider opening your heart and home to &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl&#226&#128&#139. With the right environment, love, and care, &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl&#226&#128&#139 will bring boundless joy, loyalty, and adventure into your life GENE is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine for an adoption fee of $550.   This adoption fee covers the cost of running a brick and mortar rescue as well as any transport, veterinary, food, treats, toys costs and the many expenses that rescues endure to keep the pets in their care safe, and happy.    Be sure to read all his information and if interested, go to the rescue website to submit an adoption application. https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 The rescue buys food in bulk, by the truck load and there are a variety of brands and flavors.
