Story
Adoption Donation  $ 499   Located: RI (Transportation costs included to the Northeast , plz ask for more details) Age: approx  2 years  old Weight: est.  25 lbs.   Meet Maxine: A Special Girl Looking for Her Forever Family Maxine is a beautiful 2-year-old terrier mix with a remarkable spirit and so much love to give. Born blind, Maxine has never let her disability define her. In fact, anyone who meets her quickly realizes that she doesn't see herself as any different from any other dog. She confidently navigates her home, yard, and even stairs with ease, embracing life with joy, curiosity, and determination. A year ago, Maxine thought she had found her forever home. She was deeply loved by her family, and they loved her right back. Unfortunately, despite working with trainers and trying every possible solution, Maxine developed an irresistible urge to chase the family's cat. When their veterinarian determined that the cat's stress levels were seriously affecting her health, her family was faced with an impossible decision. With heavy hearts, they returned Maxine to our rescue, hoping we could help her find the perfect home where she could truly thrive. Now Maxine is waiting for her second chance. This sweet girl is happiest when she's surrounded by people who love her. She's accustomed to having her family nearby and enjoys being part of daily life. While she is crate-trained when needed, she'd much rather be spending time with her humans, exploring the world by their side. Maxine loves adventure. Walks and hikes are among her favorite things, and she would be thrilled to join an active family who enjoys spending time outdoors. A fenced yard would be wonderful, but an adopter who enjoys regular walks and outdoor activities would make her just as happy. She gets along well with other dogs and would enjoy having a playful canine companion. However, she would do best with dogs who appreciate an energetic friend rather than senior dogs looking for peace and quiet. Because of her strong prey drive, Maxine cannot live with cats. In her foster home, Maxine has done wonderfully with children who are old enough to understand and respect that she is blind. She has no food aggression and no significant behavioral issues. Occasionally, she may bark when startled, so a quieter home rather than apartment living would likely be the best fit for her. At 25 pounds, Maxine is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, and in excellent health. More than anything, she is a gentle, affectionate soul who deserves the security and love of a family who will cherish her forever. Maxine has already experienced both love and loss in her young life. Through it all, she has remained trusting, happy, and full of hope. Somewhere out there is the family she's been waiting for, a family who will see beyond her blindness and recognize the extraordinary dog she truly is. Could that family be yours? If interested in adopting Maxine, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  kyleallyn1112@yahoo.com Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. Story
Rocket Man has been in rescue for quite a long time. Some people think that means there is something wrong with the dog. Not always the case - as with Rocket Man. He is a short, stout fella who loves people. All he wants is to be your buddy - to go on car rides and hikes- and sleep by your side. He has a great personality for being your number 1. He does live with another dog, but he would need to have a meet and greet with any other dogs. Why hasn't he been chosen? We have several ordinary looking dogs who are lingering in rescue. They aren't flashy with beautiful curls or long, fluffy coats and blue eyes. They are just ordinary looking. Don't be fooled by the black or brown dogs. They can be some of the most special personalities out there. All they need is a chance to show off. And that, in a nutshell, is Rocket Man.FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. The adoption fee Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea/Tick/Heartworm Prevention, and Sheltering. Adult Dogs are Heartworm Tested and Treated as Needed. FOCCAS does not DNA test or guarantee breed. My adoption fee (if picked up locally in Crossville, Tennessee) is $225. Story
If you are looking for a young, frisky pup who loves to play, Roady would be your new best friend. He could be part boxer or Feist mix with his furrowed brow but leans in like a lab, part heeler perhaps? Whatever the mix, Roady does love the car, travels politely, and would thrive with a daily dog park visit. He has a lot of stamina, runs fast, and enjoys chasing balls. He might do really well with agility training. Roady loves his meals and is working on "sit" to wait for them. He is a bit shy on occasion and it will take time for "come" to be second nature. Roady can get distracted outside as all his senses seem to be on alert. He has especially keen hearing and long distance vision, but does not bark often. He is a gentleman in the house as he is totally housebroken! Roady is still young and learning, loving a chew toy of any kind, especially plastic, so he will need heavy monitoring in a new environment for a bit. He takes calm and firm verbal correction well and is learning "off" and "leave it" commands. Having said that, Roady crates easily and enjoys being in and out of bed during the day on his own. He has done well being confined when adults are out for a couple of hours. Roady gets along well with other medium-sized dogs and follows after his foster brother on walks and visits in the yard. He is a great follower and would love another dog or playmate at home. He does very well on leash. If you are looking for a manageable optimistic, playful dog who can content himself without fuss, Roady will make a wonderful companion for the lucky family that chooses him.FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN.
