Story
Chester is a 4-year-old Flat-Coated Retriever with a heart as soft as his fluffy coat. He came to us as a stray alongside two other dogs. While we don’t know much about his past, his gentle nature tells us he’s ready to start a loving new chapter. This sweet boy is a dream on a leash—easy to harness up and walks right by your side without pulling. He enjoys a good sniff-around in the yard but is just as happy to quietly hang out next to you, soaking up all the pets you’re willing to give. In fact, if you sit with him, he’ll lay calmly by your side for as long as you`ll let him. He`s a low-energy, go-with-the-flow kind of guy. Chester is polite and well-mannered, especially when it comes to treats—he takes them gently and with those soulful eyes, it`s hard to resist giving him a few extra. He seems to know how to sit on command, although he gets so close when he does it it’s hard to snap a proper photo! If you’re looking for a loyal, mellow companion who’s just as happy exploring the yard as he is snuggled up next to you, Chester might just be your perfect match.

Story
WHAT AN INNOCENT FACE!  Est DOB 12/22/23, weight 55 pounds Hey there, everyone! I’m Milo, and I’m a sweet, happy, playful black Labrador/ German Shepherd mix fella with a splash of white on my nose and on my chest. I’ve got the prick ears of a Shepherd but my solid black coat and lanky build indicate my Lab heritage.  I’m one of the sweetest dogs you could ever meet because I love everyone, and of course, everyone loves me back. Could it be because of the always-innocent expression on my face? One of my favorite things to do is fall asleep on top of Foster Mom. True confessions: I snore a bit! I’m smart as a whip, and because I’m very food-motivated, treats have helped me to pick up a few commands very quickly. I have lots of energy, so I love to horse around with the resident dog in my foster home but I also love to go to Doggy Day Care where I get along with everybody! I’m curious about the cats, but I haven’t been allowed to meet them yet. Thank heavens Foster Mom rescued me as a stray who was wandering her neighborhood with no collar, tags, or chip. Now I’m ready to find my forever home, and I can’t wait! Could that be with you? Arrange to meet me, and I promise to cover your face with mushy pupper kisses. Story
TRULY A DREAM DOG  DOB 10/15/23, weight 40 pounds Say hello to Cooper, who has a heart as big as his adorable puppy eyes! This sweet boy was found abandoned on the side of the road until his amazing foster dad came to his rescue. From the moment he arrived, it was clear Cooper had known love before — he is incredibly friendly, walks well on a leash, is crate-trained, and has a special gift for snuggling his way right into your heart. Cooper loves being close to his people and spends his days lounging in his cozy bed, sunbathing in the backyard, and keeping his foster dad company while he works from home. He is a quiet, gentle companion who is just as happy relaxing as he is joining in on an adventure. When it comes to making new doggy friends, Cooper appreciates a slow and thoughtful introduction. With a little time, patience, and lots of gentle encouragement, he opens up beautifully — just like he did with his foster sister, Willow, who is now his best friend and favorite playmate. Cooper would likely thrive with a calm, friendly dog in his forever home who can help him continue to feel safe and loved. This smart boy knows his name, responds when called, and even waits patiently by the door after potty breaks for you to help him with his belly band. He enjoys car rides, is a perfect gentleman during bath time, and sits sweetly for nail trims — truly a dream! Now he is ready to find a forever family who will love and cherish him for the rest of his life. Could that be you?  HOPE ID: D25-0402-0020 Cooper's $150 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for heartworms, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment for heartworms and fleas. Online application: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php If you have questions prior to filling out the application or want to find out which adoption site Cooper will be this week-end, email us at lisagilchrist16@gmail.com, and a volunteer will get back to you.  June 26, 2025, 2:44 pm

Story
ALWAYS READY TO BE SHOWERED WITH ATTENTION  Est. DOB 3/1/24, weight 44 lbs Meet Daisy, a young, energetic girl who’s always ready to chase a ball and show off her signature zoomies! She thrives on attention and isn’t shy about letting you know when she wants more — she can be quite the talker. She was found in a ditch on the side of the road after being hit by a car and was taken to BARC, the City of Houston shelter.  Her foster mom pulled her, and Daisy hasn’t ever looked back! Daisy is crate-trained and loves playing with her toys, especially when treats are involved. While she can be a little nervous around new people, she warms up with patience and kindness. She’s cat-friendly and has a protective streak when it comes to her space. Daisy is curious about other dogs and seems eager to play, but she needs slow, positive introductions as she can be a bit unsure at first. She's also very sensitive to correction, so a gentle and understanding approach is a must. Daisy is ready for Meet-&-Greets and is hoping to find her forever home — maybe with you! HOPE ID D25-0502-0023 If you are interested in Daisy and would like to fill out a Dog Adoption Application, please go to: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php.
