Story
My name is Scarlet and I am 2 years old. My mom named me Scarlet after her favorite Marvel character “Scarlet Witch.” I was adopted on March 17, 2022 when I was only 3 months old. My mom loves to describe as a smart, playful, funny, loving, and affectionate dog, but this side of me will only come out if you are willing to be patient enough in getting to know me. My favorite games includes tug of war and chase, in which I will always win. I am reactive but I have had experience with being around other dogs (I have been to doggie daycare) and has had no problems. As for people, I am selective on who I trust. I am looking for an experienced dog owner who will be patient and be able to put in the work training and getting to know me. As for lifestyle, I am looking for someone who has time to go on walks and adventures with me or even just play a simple game in your home or backyard.

***SPECIAL DOG ALERT***Meet our Sister Duo ~NEBULA & GIGI~Brace yourself, their story is a heart wrenching one.Imagine what happens when a litter of adorable puppies is born in a yard with little to no care.As the months pass by, the puppies keep getting bigger ,and again, zero to little attention is being devoted into these sweet souls. One day, the owner takes all the puppies, drives to a secluded area, dumps them, and drives off. This is where Nebula and Gigi come into our lives. After a fearless interference from animal control, these 2 sisters werepicked up and brought to our care.Unfortunately, for some of their siblings, it was too late..We are certain this kind of neglect and lack of socialization is detrimental to any dog!Not only does it create behavior issues, but it puts a strain on all facilities trying to right a wrong where critical socialization periods were missed.*With this being said, GIGI & NEBULA need an adopter or foster-to-adopt home by 7/30/2024**In the kennel, you will see a shy broken down dog who does not understand what is going on*Outside the kennel, Gigi & Nebula come to life! They run and play, and do their best to seek attention from you even if it`s a quick lick and a smile :)*They are trying so hard to open up! They get better with each passing day!*Now they NEED a family who is willing to take their care on*A family who understands that Gigi & Nebula might not ever be a `normal` dog (but normal is overrated!) who understands they have never lived indoors meaning all training and housebraking will have to be slowly taught*A home that can give them the space, time, patience, and love they never had*It might take months for these dogs to learn what trust is, but if you are commited, this sister duo will meet you right there!*Staff is able to leash and pet them but we do not consider living in a kennel a proper life.If you are able to rescue these doggies please come down asap or call 408-686-3900.Gigi, Nebula, Staff and Volunteers THANK YOU!

Story
We aren`t sure which came first- her injury or her abandonment. When Jasmine was found on Mount Hamilton Rd.- a `popular` location for discarded pets- her body was broken. In a heap, she suffered from a fractured pelvis and tibia. These are common injuries for dogs who have been struck by a vehicle. We will never know if she was left on that quiet country road because she was injured or she was left and hit by a car while she frantically searched for her family. Despite the pain she must have been in, she but her ears back and relented easily when our veterinarians handled her to assess her injuries. Unfortunately, the breaks were beyond our ability to repair. Our veterinarians were so touched by her gentle demeanor, though, that they pleaded with the UC Davis shelter veterinary orthopedic program to help. They answered the call, and our team drove Jasmine to Davis for her big surgery. Jasmine is healing very well from her surgery and is receiving regular easy walks to help her recovery. At about 40 pounds, she is a perfect size. She is social when meeting new people on her walks, stopping to say `hello` to everyone she meets. She really wants to make her person happy and follows direction very well. Interested in showing Jasmine a whole new world? Please visit our adoption center located at 12425 Monterey Rd in San Martin anytime during open hours (12-6pm weekdays, 12-5 pm weekends). No appointment is necessary and there is no pre-application process.
