Story
Rescued: 3/17/2023 Age at time of rescue: 3 days old Current weight: 42 pounds Meet Kimmy – Gentle, Quiet, and Learning What Love Feels Like Kimmy is a sweet, soft-natured girl who came to us with very little socialization. Because of her past, she was initially uncomfortable with touch, but with training and patience she is slowly learning to allow gentle handling at her own pace. She is not aggressive at all — just unsure — and she quietly navigates the world while building trust one step at a time. What Makes Kimmy Special • Naturally well-behaved and calm • Housebroken and keeps her space clean • Walks nicely on a leash and enjoys peaceful walks • Knows “sit” and “down” and is learning “place” • Loves Benebones, antlers, and quiet time • Non-aggressive and very respectful of her surroundings • A gentle soul who observes the world with curiosity What Kimmy Needs Kimmy does best with a confident, friendly dog to show her the world is safe. A calm home, patient adopter, and slow, positive experiences will help her continue to gain confidence and trust. She may never be a cuddly lap dog, but she can be a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates a quiet presence and steady routines. Who Kimmy Is Looking For Kimmy is searching for someone who is comfortable going slow and earning trust over time. A home with a stable dog and an understanding heart would be ideal for her. Ready to Meet Kimmy? If you believe love can be built gently and patiently, Kimmy may be the perfect match. We would love to introduce you and help her take the next brave step toward her forever home. Thank you for considering a dog in need! Please go to our website at www.satoheartrescue.org to download our application. The adoption fee is $500.00 which can be paid in cash or check. We look forward to working with you! Story
Meet Louie Born 5/14/25 | Expected to stay a small boy Louie is pure puppy joy wrapped in a tiny package. Super sweet and endlessly affectionate, this little guy is all about playtime, toys, and soaking up the world around him. He loves to chew on his toys, romp around outside, and never says no to a meal or a treat. Louie adores other dogs and does well with cats too—though in true puppy fashion, he may chase them in hopes of starting a game. He’s friendly, social, and eager to be part of the fun wherever he goes. At this stage, Louie is very much “puppy 5000”—full of energy, curiosity, and learning as he goes. He will thrive in a home ready to provide patience, structure, continued training, and lots of playtime to help him grow into the amazing little dog he’s meant to be. If you’re looking for a small, happy, toy-loving pup who will keep you smiling and on your toes, Louie may be your perfect match.   ##2622256##

Story
Meet Norman! A spirited approximately one-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd/Siberian Husky/American Pitbull Terrier mix from sunny Los Angeles, CA, now embracing the snowy wonderland of Lowell, MI! With his striking tricolor coat and mesmerizing mismatched eyes—one blue, one brown—Norman is a true head-turner. But it’s not just his looks that make him special; this high-energy, adventure-loving pup is always ready for fun! Norman thrives on movement, whether he’s dashing through the snow, leaping over fallen trees, or chasing after his beloved red ball. His enthusiasm is boundless, and he’s eager to share his love for playtime with an active family. Though he’s still working on leash manners, he’s made great progress and loves the freedom of a long lead for fetch sessions. Norman picks up training at lightning speed—he already knows “sit,” “wait,” “place,” “stay,” and “leave it.” Plus, he’s trained with the “yes” marker, making him a fantastic student who’s always eager to learn. He’s also a perfect gentleman in his crate, settling in like a pro when it’s time to rest. While Norman is friendly and curious about other dogs, he does have a strong prey drive—squirrels beware! He hasn’t had much experience with cats, so that’s still a mystery. And when it comes to water? Well, he’s still deciding how he feels about it. Lately, he’s been getting used to being in and around water, even exploring the creek for the first time! Shallow water is becoming less intimidating, and he’s making great progress—one paw at a time! Norman is seeking a home with experienced guardians who understand high-energy breeds and can provide plenty of structure, training, and activity. He thrives on both physical and mental challenges, so an active household willing to take him on adventures would be ideal. Due to his discomfort around young children, a home without little ones is recommended. Older kids may be fine with proper supervision. He’s highly food-motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding, and with positive reinforcement, he’ll continue to grow into the confident, well-mannered companion he’s meant to be! Norman recently completed his Lyme disease treatment and is currently doing great—he doesn’t show any symptoms and isn’t on any medications at this time. He’ll be retested in about five months to ensure everything stays on track. In the meantime, he’s as playful, affectionate, and adventurous as ever! Norman is eager to find a new loving home where he can run, learn, and cuddle up after a day of play. Could you be the one to welcome this spirited goofball into your life? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to meet Norman today!
