Gershwin is a 7-year-old neutered male German Shepherd, pure bred, looking for the right home. He is a sweet, sesitive dog who bonds deeply to his people and thrives in a structured, predictable environment. He is currently in training at B.A.R.K Institute, where we are working on building his confidence and improving impulse control. Why is Gershwin available for adoption? He has had two incidents where unfamiliar people entered his space, home unexpectedly and due to his anxiety his reaction was two minor bite incidents-in these scenarios,neither required medical treatment,but they are considered a bite history nonetheless. He is currently on medication to support his anxiety and his owners opted not to discontinue medication before sending him to training. Ideal Home: *Experienced dog owner (German Shepherd experience preferred) *Calm,structured household *someone confortable with management (crate/place,controlled introductions) *Adult0only home or older, dog-savvy children Gershwin is a loyal, thoughtful dog who will do best with someone who understands his nature and is willing to provide clear leadership and structure. Loki is at B.A.R.K. Institute for a full training program and then will be available for adoption - if adopted before program conclusion adopters are encouraged to come spend time with him and get lessons with him - we also provide an in home lesson. Loki is a friendly guy who takes a minute to be your friend but then he is a total love. We don't recommend him in a home with young children because he does have some touch aversion we are working through with his training. He is a pretty timid guy who bonds hard with his people. We are actively working on getting weight off of him. He does not require all of the outlets a typical German Shepherd Dog needs- he would be happy with simple walks and a little bit of training - but also happy to do more if needed. He has low energy and drive, he is crate trained, finished his obedience training. If you are interested in learning more or think you may be a good fit, please reach out. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This handsome guy is Dante. He is a young husky/shepherd mix (born June 2024), and weighs about 50 pounds. Dante is very smart, playful and full of personality - but we are not going to sugar coat it- he’s a handful! He is friendly, has had obedience training, loves to work for treats and knows plenty of commands- but will pick and choose who he will listen to and when he will listen. A dog like Dante is frustrated in a kennel environment. We cannot meet his mental or physical needs. He needs a home- someone with the skill, time and patience to work with him. We are looking for a special adopter- the one who can see his potential and wants to help a dog in need. A potential adopter for Dante must be an experienced dog handler, who can establish and maintain leadership from the start. He will challenge his handler- so this is an absolute must! A fully fenced in yard is required. We believe he would do best in a home with one or two adults. He has the potential to live with another dog. (But of course a meet is a must). Dante has bonded with some of our volunteers, and can be very affectionate. We believe he has the potential to be a great companion- but only in the right hands. Tessa recently enjoyed a break from the kennel and visited with one of our volunteers. It’s clear that this young girl knows what it’s like to live in a home. She was a wonderful guest and after some playtime settled in for a nap. Tessa is microchipped, up to date on vaccines and will be spayed shortly. Cameron is a handsome young German Shepherd mix with a playful personality and all the enthusiasm of a growing puppy! He's a smart, food-motivated boy who is learning quickly. He walks nicely on a leash, is comfortable in his crate, and has become much more confident meeting new people, happily greeting familiar faces with a wagging tail. Cameron loves playing with other dogs and would likely enjoy a canine companion in his new home. He enjoys squeaky toys, puzzle games, treat-filled Kongs, and a good chew toy. He is very curious about squirrels, birds, and cats, and his foster family has been working on the "leave it" command to help him stay focused during walks. Like any puppy, Cameron is still working on his manners (don't leave snacks on the counter!), but he has a wonderful temperament and wasn't even bothered by Fourth of July fireworks. With continued positive training and plenty of love, Cameron is sure to grow into an amazing lifelong companion. Cameron is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines. Apollo is living with another dog (Kobe) and with someone who is no longer physically able to care for him. When our surrender team volunteers met Apollo, he was friendly with them and their dog… he greeted them with lots of tail wags. Friendly with everyone and greets even strangers with happy enthusiasm Great in the car; sits quietly and looks out the window Able to calmly and respectfully meet other dogs May pull on leash when excited, but is able to quickly settle, even in public spaces with people and other dogs Enjoys treats, bones, and chews Apollo is a quiet friendly guy- good with all people he meets and dogs. He doesn't seem to be a fan of cats. He has never lived with children but may be fine with older kids. He is calm and loving and appears to be much younger than he is. This handsome senior could be a great companion and easy to care for guy. He is here in NJ ready to meet you. He is neutered and will be microchipped, brought up to date on vaccines, and heartworm tested prior to being placed with a s foster or adopter. He recently had senior bloodwork done and he is overall a healthy guy. Apollo is coming to us through our owner surrender program. He will remain under the care of his owner until he is officially transferred to an approved Wag On Inn foster or adopter. His adoption fee is $300.
