Story
Brutus | Shepherd - Husky mix 2.5 years | Neutered | 60 lbs | Housebroken This handsome boy is Brutus. Brutus is about 2.5 years old now. He is a very friendly boy and would be fine with older kids (only because of his size) and he does fine around other dogs - a meet-n-greet would be required. Do you have a spot in your home and heart for him? He's been waiting awhile now. You must own your home and have a fenced in back yard or access to one to adopt Brutus. Adoption Fee includes all age-appropriate shots, deworming, spay/neuter certificate (if too young to be fixed) and microchip, dog food, leash and collar. PLEASE NOTE -- WE CAN ONLY RESPOND TO APPLICANTS WHO HAVE FILLED OUT AN APPLICATION AND ARE CONSIDERED A GOOD MATCH FOR THIS PET. Story
Dexter | Golden White Shepherd 4 years | Neutered | 50-55 lbs | Housebroken Dexter is a gorgeous white shepherd who is incredibly loving and loyal. At his current foster, he is a house dog who has proven his proper indoor etiquette. He would love a home with older children or would thrive with a single person who he can give all of his love to. He loves sleeping at the foot of the bed to make sure you're safe at night. Dexter's family lost their home and had to move into an apartment where pets were not allowed. He's missing his family but is still very sweet. He gets along with other dogs but is an alpha male; he is housebroken. Currently in foster in a country setting with other dogs. Dexter is up to date with his shots, and neutered. He is being treated for heartworm but is otherwise a healthy 4-year old. He walks well on leash. Dexter will need access to a yard or fenced in area. Click on adoption link to apply. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. PHOENIX was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. He along with his 7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 Phoenix is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 2 January 2023 and at the time of transport weighed around 42 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. PHOENIX is the youngest of the dogs that came over from OMAN and he has settled in great. He shares a kennel with his Omani friends, Myrtle (who keeps in him in check) and KATIE (who he has a crush on lol). He is very affectionate, gentle, playful, he found the toy basket almost straight away and enjoys getting them all out and playing or chewing on them. He doesn't like sharing all the time and will let the other dog know with a low growl that it is his food or toy, but has never escalated to anything other than appropriate communicating. He gets super excited when I go over to the kennels, he loves having lots of neck and ear scratches, cuddles and kisses. He will need a family that has an active lifestyle and can give him all that he deserves and needs to thrive. He will in return give you all the love he has, so many giggles with his goofy antics and lots of wonderful memories to be made. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue   YouTube channel   and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Phoenix is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a reduced adoption fee of $300. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - As the dogs are in the kennels, we are not able to say how they are with cats. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. FLISS was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. She along with her 7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 Fliss is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 2 September 2021 and at the time of transport weighed around 42 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. FLISS was really scared when she first arrived and wanted to keep her distance, which considering all that she has been through leaving her country and rescue and arriving in America is to be expected. She shares a kennel with her amputee friend, KAI who has helped her settle and gain confidence and within just a few days she was charging around playing with him and has been letting me pet her and rub her neck and scratch her ears, which she really likes. She will most likely be scared when going to her new home, as most dogs are so we are looking for a family who understands and can be patient and give her time to adapt.  Sight hounds do need a good amount of exercise, they tend to have bursts of energy, like Greyhounds and so a relatively active family is needed and one that can give her the lifestyle that she needs and deserves to thrive. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel   and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. He has an estimated date of birth of 21 November 2022 and at the time of transport weighed around 35 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. Alma is such a gentle and sweet boy, he is a little wary at first, but having been through all he has leaving his rescue in Oman and traveling to the US is a huge change. After just a few days, he has settled in great, he gets excited when I go over to the kennels, will now take treats, very gently, shares a kennel with two other dogs and does great. One of his kennel mates, CHIP a young cattle dog is really helping to bring him out of his shell, teaching him to play and having him curious in the toys and chews. He sleeps snuggled up with, I feel he gets a lot of comfort with Chips typical cattle dog confidence. ALMA is thin, although being the kind of breed, a sighthound mix, he will not need to gain much more weight, but a few extra pounds would have him at a healthy weight. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel   and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. Story
Meet Louisa! Louisa is an adult female German shepherd who initially came to Husky House all the way from Qatar! Louisa is a smart, affectionate, and playful dog. She can become stressed when touched or grabbed in unexpected ways and may need time to settle into a new home before guests are brought over. While she generally likes anyone, she meets at Husky House, Louisa builds trust with individuals the more time she spends with them and may do best with multiple meet and greets before going to a forever home. Unfortunately, she has been adopted and returned when the adopters did not listen to advice from Husky House regarding these points. Louisa plays very well with male dogs her size but can be selective with females. She enjoys going for walks and knows Sit and Paw! Please no homes with young/small children, small animals, small dogs or cats. Previous dog experience a must to be considered for adoption. Interested in adopting Louisa? Please visit www.huskyhouse.org today to fill out an application.July 15, 2024, 10:33 pm
