Story
MOLLY, a 2 year old black German Shepherd mix lost the only home she has ever known when she was surrendered to our pound by her family because she liked to bolt out of an open door. MOLLY is housebroken, spayed, and crate trained. She is timid around people she doesn't know and will give a low growl to let them know that she doesn't want to be forced to meet a new person. If you let her be and offer her a snack or two, she will warm up once she trusts you. MOLLY does like to follow people she trusts around. She is playful, loves to go for long walks, and cuddle with you on the couch. We think MOLLY will do best in a home without a lot of yelling. She needs a calm environment to be comfortable. MOLLY gets along with other dogs, should not be placed in a home with little kids (10 and up is fine), and doesn't like cats. Harrison County Dog Pound, 82900 Toot Rd. Cadiz, OH. Open: Monday-Friday 10am-4pm; Sat. 9am-2pm, Closed Sundays and holidays. Apply to adopt in person or online at harrisoncountydogvolunteers.org. PLEASE NOTE THAT APPLE USERS MUST ACCESS AND SUBMIT APPLICATION USING GOOGLE, NOT SAFARI. Out of state adoptions are welcomed. $40 adoption fee. 740-942-4080

Story
Luna is a female German Shepherd Dog, born in July of 2022, who came to us as an owner surrender due to no fault of her own. She is a stunning girl who could benefit from some guidance to highlight her wonderful personality, so that's where we have come in to play! For this guidance, Luna has been enrolled in our "cell dog" training program to learn some basic commands as well as any additional socialization and basic training that she may need. She is super smart so we have no doubt that she will amazing and be ready for her next steps of a forever home in no time! Typical of her breed and age, Luna likes to play, so an active home with a fenced in yard would be ideal! She does very well with other dogs and likes to be with people. Due to her personality, we would think she would do well with everyone, including dog educated children. She is a wonderful pup & we are excited for her next steps!Luna's adoption fee is $450.00 which will include her spay, vaccines (including DHLPPC, Kennel Cough, Lyme disease, Rabies), deworming, heartworm/lyme testing (negative), Microchipping with lifetime registration and cell dog training. If you want to meet Luna with hopes to make her part of your family, be sure to FIRST apply on our website for approval: https://www.theroadhomeanimalproject.org/companion-adoption-form-pdf.html***100% of adoption fees go back to the animals and help provide for medical care for our rescues that need specialized medical care and surgeries.*Note: Ideally, ALL members of the family (canine and human alike) should be present for any meet and greet unless otherwise specified/discussed.Please remember that we are a board of entirely volunteers that have full time jobs as well as our rescue passion. So, be patient with us and check out our Facebook page for more information and photo updates: facebook.com/trhap2014You can visit our website at theroadhomeanimalproject.org

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Chester. I'm about 1 year old and I weigh about 52 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Homeworth area around mid-October and I was picked up by the pound. When I first came in, I was unsocialized and I was fearful of everyone and everything. Through some hard work on the part of the volunteers and employees here at the pound, I am making a huge turn around. I am learning slowly learning that humans are pretty cool, and that I don't need to fear everything new, because some of the new stuff is pretty cool too. I have learned how to walk on a leash since I've came into the pound. That was pretty scary for me at first, but I have made wonderful progress. I am an affectionate boy and I like to give hugs when I am scared, or just when I would like some attention. I can be a bit on the vocal side, especially when I am on walks or in my kennel not getting attention, but I am trying to learn how to be a good boy. I will need a patient family willing to work with me on housebreaking and training. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable.
