Story
He just wants someone to hold his hand and love him! Shadow is the sweetest 9/10 year old Shepherd mix. He is neutered, UTD on shots/bloodwork and is very healthy aside from his allergies. He does have allergies on his feet and requires Apoquel or he chews them. His owner passed away suddenly and he was thrown outside with his housemate. Shadow has met other dogs and many people. He LOVES all people and just wants to sit with you for cuddles and scratches. He walks well on a leash and is good for bathes and vet appointments. He loves to ride in the car and climbs right in. He does chase cats and would do best in a cat-free household. He comes with food, toys/blanket/bed, leash/collar, medication and treats. A small rehoming fee is required.

Story
Hello! I am new to the shelter! Please keep checking my profile for updates as the staff gets to know me better!Few can resist a puppy. These adorable, soft bundles of energy are similar to four-legged children with tails. And like children, puppies need a lot of time, care, love, and patience. A puppy will depend on you for frequent and regular feedings and walks, for guidance and training, and for much of your time and your love. Before you plunge into puppy parenthood, make sure to research! There are many rewards to caring for a puppy, but there are also many requirements. Puppy classes are highly recommended for socialization and a positive transition into your home. Puppies love to learn how to be the best dog for your family! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neutering-heartworm testingAdoption fee: $185.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2024 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $9.20. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$7.20)All dog adoptions come with free leash and collar.

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Denver. I'm about 10 months old and I weigh about 60 lbs. My friend, Myself (and 3 pups) were picked up by the pound after multiple complaints were made against our owner for letting us run at large. Our owner didn't try to rectify things, nor did they make any attempt to claim us. My friend is heartworm positive and will have to remain here for a while while she undergoes heartworm treatment, but I am a healthy boy (aside from lyme disease which is being treated) and I am able to start looking for a loving family now. I am a very sweet and affectionate boy with people. I will need a little work on my basic manners and basic training, but I am a smart boy and should learn quickly. I have been good around the other dogs here at the pound, but the pound does always recommend meet and greets with any other dogs you own just to make sure we get along well. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Boswell. I'm about 2 years old and I weigh about 68 lbs. I was found as a stray and I was brought into the pound. I am a very sweet boy. I love people. I am very loving and affectionate. I love belly rubs and I enjoy attention. I tend to follow my nose and forget that I have ears whenever I am on the go, so I don't always listen, but when you have my attention, I am very smart ad listen well do basic commands such as sit and lay down. I have been great around all of the other dogs that I've met here at the pound. I would love another young, active dog to play with. I do a great job of keeping my kennel clean and I appear to have been a house dog before making my way into the shelter. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Andi. I'm about 1 year old and I weigh about 45 lbs. I was found as a stray in the East Liverpool area and I was picked up by the pound. I am a very timid, shy little girl at first, but once I warm up and get to know you, I am very sweet, loving and affectionate. I love to run and play... and I come in hot for some belly rubs. Once I am comfortable around you, I am a total goofball. I have been good around the other dogs here at the pound. I was introduced to a kitty, but I wasn't the greatest fan (I did slow motion air chompies at him). I could just be very unsocialized with cats, or I might just not like them. Either way, a feline free family will be best for me. The perfect family for me is one that will take it slow while I'm getting to know them and give me the time I need to adjust. I am very clean in my kennel and I appear to be housebroken. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152.
