Story
Meet Chevelle!! 🔥🐾 Chevelle came in as a stray on 4/2/26, and we think he’s about a year old—which means he is currently running on 100% puppy energy and 0% chill. He’s a super handsome guy (like… unfairly good-looking), and he knows it just enough to get away with a little nonsense. Think zoomies, enthusiasm, and a “let’s do EVERYTHING right now” attitude. Chevelle is what we like to call a smart cookie with big main-character energy. He’s going to need some training and guidance—but the good news? He’s absolutely the kind of dog who will pick things up quickly and thrive with someone willing to put in a little time. This isn’t a couch potato starter pack. This is a fun project dog who’s going to turn into an amazing, loyal, well-trained companion if you meet him halfway. If you’re looking for a dog to adventure with, train, and grow alongside—Chevelle is your guy. 📍 Chevelle is located at the Richland County Dog Shelter in Mansfield, OH 📞 419-774-5892 📧 Adoption is an application process. You can request one via dogs@richlandcountyoh.gov Come meet him… and maybe clear your schedule for zoomies 🐕💨

Story
Meet Krissy!! 💁‍♀️✨ Krissy strutted in as a stray on 1/9/26, and we think she’s about 3 years old. Just LOOK at that smile—she knows she’s gorgeous and she’s not afraid to show it. This big, beautiful girl is full of energy, happiness, and main-character vibes. Treats? Meh. Toys? Kinda. Attention? YES, PLEASE. Krissy’s love language is 100% human admiration, and she’s happiest when all eyes (and hands) are on her. She’s super sweet, very affectionate, and always ready to charm her way into your heart. If you’re looking for a confident, joyful, attention-loving best friend, Krissy is your girl. She’s available for adoption, so don’t keep her waiting—she’s got places to be and people to impress! 📍 Krissy is located at the Richland County Dog Shelter in Mansfield, OH 📞 419-774-5892 📧 dogs@richlandcountyoh.gov Adoption is an application process 🐾

Story
Adeline, Addie for short, is a sweet girl looking for a home where she can get more attention with her human. She's incredibly smart, full of energy, and talkative. Addie loves to be part of the conversation. Adeline does have some separation anxiety, and loves being right by your side following you room to room. She doesn't do well with fireworks, thunderstorms, and other loud noises. She gets along well with the other dogs and cats that have been in the house. She does have a prey drive, but walks well on leash when using a gentle leader. Addie is house trained and would do well in a house where she can simply get the proper attention she needs. She's showing signs of hip dysplasia, but gets around just fine. I would love to keep my sweet girl, but I'm simply unable to give her the love and mental stimulation that she needs to really thrive. Would prefer she goes to someone with previous German Shephered experience or similar as she can be a lot to handle at times and needs patience

Story
Meet Bosa — a 6-year-old German Shepherd/Hound mix who is as sweet as they come. He is well-trained, gentle, and not aggressive in the slightest. He just has a big, sensitive heart and gets anxious easily, which means he needs a calm environment where he can truly feel safe and loved.Bosa has always been a sensitive soul. When we welcomed two more dogs into our home, the dynamic became too much for him — and his anxiety has grown over time. We’ve come to realize that the kindest thing we can do is find him a calm, peaceful home where he can be the star of the show. That’s exactly what he deserves. This is not a dog with “problems” — this is a dog whose needs have outgrown what our current household can give him. He needs patience, consistency, and someone who will let him feel truly secure. If you give him that, you will have the most devoted, loving companion. We are looking for someone who truly understands anxious dogs and is ready to give him the calm, steady love he deserves.

Story
Meet KALLIE! She is a 4 ish year old German Shepherd Dog who weighs 56 pounds. She is friendly and does well with other dogs. Kallie is a bundle of energy and will need an active family who will exercise both mind and body daily. She is crate trained, knows some commands and walks well on a leash. KALLIE lived with 3 other dogs and they got along fine, but she does not share food well and will need to be fed separately (a good idea for most dogs). Unfortunately, KALLIE was mistreated in her previous home and had to be removed by the Sheriff. She hasn't lost her spirit and is very resilient. She gets a little anxious and needs to be handled gently and slowly at first until she gets comfortable. She is looking forward to getting a stable family and getting treated well. Adoption fee is $400 All Ashland County Humane Society animals' adoption fees include: ~spay/neuter ~micro-chip ~de-worming ~vaccinations, including rabies ~heartworm prevention If you are interested in adopting this dog, please visit: www.ashlandhumane.org/adoption-application (copy and paste link to address bar) for a printable application.
