IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING, PLEASE REVIEW OUR ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE TO BEGIN THE PROCESS. ONLY APPROVED ADOPTERS MAY MEET THE AVAILABLE DOGS IN THE GSRNJ PROGRAM - WWW.GSRNJ.ORG*** Remember Rex from a few months ago? He’s back with us and looking for the right home. Rex was adopted, but shortly after, his new family discovered he was reactive at the front door. They worked with a trainer and made some progress, but he continued to struggle with one family member, so they made the difficult decision to return him. Rex is now looking for a calm, experienced home—ideally with someone familiar with German Shepherds or dogs who need a little extra support. He’ll need to be the only pet in the home (no cats, please!), and he’d do best in a quiet environment without children and with limited visitors. Meeting new people should happen outside the home and on Rex’s terms, as he needs time and space to feel comfortable. He’s a beautiful, traditional-colored GSD who bonds closely with his person. Rex walks nicely on a leash, loves his toys, and is up to date on vaccines and neutered. With the right person—someone patient and willing to continue working with a trainer—Rex has the potential to truly thrive. If you think you could be the one for him, we’d love to hear from you.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING, PLEASE REVIEW OUR ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE TO BEGIN THE PROCESS. ONLY APPROVED ADOPTERS MAY MEET THE AVAILABLE DOGS IN THE GSRNJ PROGRAM - WWW.GSRNJ.ORG*** Flugel is a stunning German Shepherd with a beautiful, well-maintained coat and bright, healthy teeth. Recently temperament tested, she passed with flying colors and impressed everyone with her gentle, tolerant nature. She is spayed, microchipped, and ready for her new family. Flugel can be a little anxious at first and clearly bonds strongly with her person—she’s happiest when she knows her handler is nearby. During her evaluation, she allowed all handling with ease, including ear checks, paw touches, and even a full-body massage (which she seemed to enjoy!). She showed no food or object guarding tendencies and responds to commands like paw, lay, and heel. She’s also food-motivated, which will make her training and bonding even more rewarding. While Flugel needs to be an only pet and doesn’t do well with other dogs or cats, she has all the qualities of a loyal, devoted companion for the right home. She thrives with structure, patience, and a confident handler who can help her feel secure and loved. If you’re looking for a faithful German Shepherd who will give her heart to her person, Flugel may be the perfect match. 💕

NOTE:  If you see this post, we are still taking applications.  If interested, please visit our site directly rather than going thru a search engine like PetFinder to show interest or fill out an app - they are not affiliated with us, we just post there and many other places. Hey y'all!  My name is Lager - nice to meet ya!  I come from the great state of KY, but being in rural NJ is a lot like where I was born on 5/24/2022 - I'm still just a youngster.  I can't even imagine city life & think it would be too scary for me.  My fostermom says I live thru my belly - there's no shame in liking food & treats in my book.  Heck, I'll figure out how to do just about anything for a reward!  I'm told that I'm goofy in a good way (whatever that means), but my fostermom always seems to be laughing at my shenanigans.  The fosterhome I live in has other dogs and a fenced yard and there are tons of toys to chew on 'cause I still like to do that too.  My leash training is limited, but I've been told that there may be treats involved in learning about it so sign me up!  If you talk to me I look & listen with a head tilt, but I gotta be honest I haven't mastered all the words other than my name, go potty, put that down & good boy.  In general, I've been told that I'm the strong, silent type of pup and I'm fairly laid back for my age.  Are you my furever home? He needs training at this point so if you are interested in making him a part of your home and have the time & patience to teach him how to be the perfect companion, visit our site (endingthesadness.org) to submit an application to be considered. REQUIREMENTS:  Adopters must be within 2hrs driving distance, have recent dog experience, no young children please, and are home more often than not.September 17, 2025, 10:10 am

Story
Meet Allie! Our vet estimates her to be 8yrs old and she has been spayed. Allie weighs about 50lbs.  We wanted the vet to check her right eye since it presents somewhat smaller than the left eye. The vet agreed that it was most likely trauma from goodness knows how long ago. Upon testing, she does have limited sight in that eye but nothing that really effects her.  She has gone through and recovered from much needed FHO surgery since she had some old trauma to her right rear leg as well as treatment for Lyme.  She absolutely adores attention from people so we think she didn't have much in her past :( She walks fine on a leash and is housetrained. Occasionally you'll see her with a toy but it's not a standard thing for her. The foster she is with is certain that right now, she is the most grateful dog in the house - her sighs of contentment while getting a belly rub for no reason says it all.  While she currently lives with other dogs in fostercare, it took us months for her to accept and trust them. But with slow & steady crate rotations, introductions & limited interactions, she has become part of the pack.  She should not be in a home with cats though is our gut feeling.  Check out our site for an application to make Allie a part of your family and FaceBook for adoption event details. (www.endingthesadness.org) Our adoption fee is $325 and all of our pets come with full vet records. All animals are up to date on vaccinations & dewormed. Please keep in mind we are a Rescue Group and most of our pups come to us with little or no background info regarding breed, eventual size, age or prior health issues. We rely on the expertise of our veterinarians and make estimates based on past experience. Also, when you're adopting from a Rescue, you should ask questions! You should always get shot/medication records and the rescue should have had the dog for a bit of time to check for disease. Take the time to educate yourself before adopting. A reputable rescue will have nothing to hide and will answer ALL your questions!!! Please visit our Web Site to see all of the pets we have for adoption. Our site contains information about our adoption process and fees, our application, and answers to frequently asked questions. Please read it carefully before contacting us. If you are interested in adopting THIS wonderful pet, we strongly encourage you to complete our adoption application now. Once we receive and approve your application, we will notify you of approval. The first application to be received and approved will get 1st choice - be sure that your references are available and willing to speak with us. Thank You Visit us at one of our next adoption days. Details are on our site under the How to Adopt tab. Hope to see you there!October 13, 2024, 12:21 am
