Story
Meet Filo, a one-year-old German Shepherd looking for his second chance!  Filo hasn’t had the easiest start in life. He came to HART from a dog hoarding situation and, as a result, struggles with some anxiety. But this handsome boy has so much potential. He just needs the right person to help him shine! Filo is a high-drive, intelligent, and trainable pup who thrives with structure and purpose. Because of his past, he can take a little time to warm up, but once he trusts you, he’ll be your loyal shadow for life. He loves having a job to do and is eager to please when given structure and consistency. When he gets frustrated or anxious, Filo can become a bit mouthy, but with proper training, exercise, and engagement, he channels that energy into learning and working. Filo would make an incredible working dog or active companion for someone who can give him the focus and purpose he craves. Filo will do best in a home that can provide structure, patience, and a clear training plan. We’re asking future adopters to include a plan for his training and daily structure when bringing him home. This will be key to helping him decompress, stay engaged, and thrive. To help Filo succeed, Scott Holliday from K9 Solutions in Grantsville has generously offered four free training classes for his adopter! This will help set him up for success and strengthen his bond with his new family. Because we believe so deeply in Filo’s potential, we’ve also waived his adoption fee. Please note:  You must live within a 175-mile radius of our facility to be considered for adoption. All our dogs and puppies are spayed or neutered, vaccinated for rabies, Bordetella, and distemper/parvo, treated with flea/ tick medication, tested for heartworm and Lyme disease, and given a microchip before being adopted into their new homes. ##2525456##

Story
Diamond is an eight year old Shepherd mix who was adopted from Pet Friends in 2017, but returned to us recently when her family was no longer able to take care of her. While she may considered a "senior dog based on her age, she looks and acts much younger. She enjoys playing fetch and going for walks but those walks don't need to be for miles and miles and the fetch sessions don't need to be hours long. After some exercise, Diamond will be happy to sit with you and get a good scratching. When she was returned, we weren't told much about her other than she is dog reactive, so would need to be in a house with no other dogs. Now that our volunteers have spent some time with Diamond, we have learned that she knows some basic commands, walks ok on a leash but will pull hard, especially at the beginning of the walk, and really enjoys being with people. Diamond is a perfect name for her, because she is a gem and is going to make someone a wonderful companion, particularly if they want a dog that has grown out of its puppy stage, yet still is full of life.

Story
I had gotten Zeus from a family friend when he was 7 weeks old. He’s now about 1 1/2 years old. He is house and crate trained. He is very energetic and loves to play. He also loves to snuggle up and lay with you. He can be a little nervous meeting new people at first but soon gets comfortable. Just want to see him be given a place he can be loved and the attention needed for his energy.

Story
Perfect Dog. I rescued her a year ago and she is a beautiful companion. Donation fee can be waived, but I have a perfect crate and her toys to offer with dog. Perfect house trained, can wait long hours in crate, and is quick to obey orders. Only issue is that she is very strong and needs someone who can handle her on walks. She gets excited when she sees prey or other dogs, but gets along with other dogs fine. Excellent guard dog and can be intimidating to any threats. She will sleep on your bed perfectly, and only barks when warning you of someone on your property. Very quiet after that and does not shed much. Great health and very sturdy. Literally a perfect dog who needs love, exercise, and consistent care. I will deeply miss her, but job requirements makes it hard for me to give her the love and care she deserves. Please reach out to me as soon as possible. Thank you!
