Story
Brutus is from Capriola Farm German Shepherds. He will be 6 years old on October 2nd. His owner died suddenly on July 25, and Brutus has been grieving and very anxious since losing his person. He’s a loyal, sweet goofball who bonds deeply, but he needs an experienced handler who understands shepherds and working-breed behavior. He loves being outside and playing in the yard - a basketball is his ball of choice. He was not socialized with other dogs, so he needs to be the only dog in the house. He has had one pain-response bite when his foot was stepped on. It was not aggression, just a reflex. He does not have a history of unpredictable biting. He’s just overwhelmed and confused right now. He does not like his feet touched. Brutus needs structure, training, and someone confident who can help him settle and feel safe again. He knows to go into his crate, but also has separation anxiety if left alone for long time periods. He is a talker and will moan his frustrations. He is a good boy.

Story
Harlow has been with us for a long time, and while she is a sweet girl, she isn’t necessarily an easy placement. Coming from a rough past, chained up in a yard, she has never and probably will never be fully trusting of humans. However, she does like other dogs and even lives with a cat friend. She is cooperative with her foster dad when it comes to daily care, but she has little to no personal interaction with him. If you adopt Harlow, there would have to be an understanding that you’re essentially just her caretaker. If you’re looking for a cuddly companion, she is probably never going to be that dog. Since she’s more trusting of dogs than humans, a home with another dog would be required, as well as a fenced-in yard. If you’d like to apply for Harlow apply on our website www.furkidrescue.org

Story
Diamond is a 9 1/2 year old Shepherd mix who was adopted from Pet Friends in 2017, but returned to us recently when her family was no longer able to take care of her. While she may be considered a senior dog based on her age, she looks and acts much younger. She enjoys playing fetch and going for walks but those walks don't need to be for miles and miles and the fetch sessions don't need to be hours long. After some exercise, Diamond will be happy to sit with you and get a good scratching. When she was returned, we weren't told much about her other than she is dog reactive, so would need to be in a house with no other dogs. Now that our volunteers have spent some time with Diamond, we have learned that she knows some basic commands, walks ok on a leash but will pull hard, especially at the beginning of the walk, and really enjoys being with people. Diamond recently moved to a foster home and the foster mom reports that Diamond is house trained, doesn’t jump up on the furniture, does not beg for food and is an all around great dog. She plays with the grandkids like she has know them for years. Diamond is a perfect name for her, because she is a gem and is going to make someone a wonderful companion, particularly if they want a dog that has grown out of its puppy stage, yet still is full of life.

Story
Greetings, mortals! I am Aries, a majestic male dog with a powerful spirit that rivals the might of the gods themselves. My lineage is a fusion of strength and courage, much like the mythical Greek warriors of old. As a German Shepherd mix, I bear the mantle of both protector and loyal companion, ready to embark on epic adventures by your side. Behold, my most distinctive feature: my big, floppy ears that listen keenly to the whispers of the wind and the secrets of the world around me. They stand as a testament to my unwavering vigilance, always attuned to the slightest rustle or sign of danger. Like the fiery ram that represents my namesake constellation, I possess boundless energy and a fiery spirit. With every step I take, I channel the might of the heavens, exuding the strength and grace befitting of a true Greek hero. My paws tread the earth with purpose, and my heart beats with the fervor of an ancient battle cry. But fear not, for beneath my divine exterior lies a heart overflowing with affection. I am not just a warrior; I am a loyal and loving companion. Together, we shall conquer every challenge and forge an unbreakable bond that even the gods would envy. So, dear mortal, if you seek a canine ally who embodies the essence of a Greek legend, look no further. I, Aries, the German Shepherd mix with big floppy ears, am here to join you on a quest of a lifetime. Let us create a mythic tale of companionship and courage that will be sung by bards for generations to come. Story
Hi there. My name is Bandit, and I am a young, female German Shepherd with a little Husky mixed in. I’m already a big girl and still growing into my paws. Like most young shepherds, I am full of energy and excitement. I would love an active family that enjoys playtime and being outdoors. I love chasing a ball, chewing on bones, and playing with my brother and sister. My best friend right now is actually a Great Dane, so I can definitely keep up with the big dogs. Stuffed toys don’t last very long around me. My favorite game is seeing how fast I can remove the stuffing and make it look like it snowed in South Texas. There is an outdoor cat where I live now, but she prefers to keep her distance, so I am not quite sure how I would do with a friendly feline. When it comes to people, I am a total sweetheart. I love to snuggle every chance I get. If you rub my chest or belly, I will melt right into your lap. I am also great with the foster grandkids who are 4 and 8 years old. Sometimes I get a little excited and accidentally knock the little one over, but I always apologize with lots of kisses. I am house trained and use a doggy door. I am not crate trained yet, but my foster family is working with me on leash training and getting more comfortable meeting new people. I can be a little reserved at first, but with patience, encouragement, and a few treats, I warm up quickly. My foster parents even had DNA tests done on my parents. My mom is 100% German Shepherd and my dad is 81% German Shepherd and 19% Husky, which explains my beautiful looks. I was born on July 21, 2025. I am spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccines and preventions. Now all I need is a loving forever family to call my own. Go ahead and submit an adoption application for me now! $250 Local Adoption Fee (Texas) $550 Out of State Fee (includes transport to your area)
