Hershey is tall dark and handsome. He’s got a lot of personality. Sometimes it takes him a minute to accept a new person but he very quickly makes new friends. He takes his treats so very gentle and has great leash manners. He could use to gain a few pounds to make him extra good looking. But his shiny soft coat and loving eyes will pull you right in. He seems to like other dogs but was not fond of the cat during his cat test.He is housebroken. He keeps his kennel clean does his business outside. He can be very vocal when he wants something. It’s actually pretty adorable. He enjoyed being out in the play yard with all of the toys on the few warm days that we’ve had lately. Just romping and running and having a good time.He did great on his dog test! So we think he’d enjoy having a canine friend to experience life with!

Story

Diamond is an eight year old Shepherd mix who was adopted from Pet Friends in 2017, but returned to us recently when her family was no longer able to take care of her. While she may considered a "senior dog based on her age, she looks and acts much younger. She enjoys playing fetch and going for walks but those walks don't need to be for miles and miles and the fetch sessions don't need to be hours long. After some exercise, Diamond will be happy to sit with you and get a good scratching. When she was returned, we weren't told much about her other than she is dog reactive, so would need to be in a house with no other dogs. Now that our volunteers have spent some time with Diamond, we have learned that she knows some basic commands, walks ok on a leash but will pull hard, especially at the beginning of the walk, and really enjoys being with people. Diamond is a perfect name for her, because she is a gem and is going to make someone a wonderful companion, particularly if they want a dog that has grown out of its puppy stage, yet still is full of life.

When another volunteer came into the run, all Mikey wanted to do was give kisses. He has that fun, playful puppy energy without being overwhelming. He even showed interest in playing ball, just hasn’t quite figured it out yet. Mikey is very treat motivated, eager to please, and will likely pick up training quickly. He’s soft, affectionate, and truly the kind of dog who would make an amazing family companion.

Harlow has been with us for a long time, and while she is a sweet girl, she isn’t necessarily an easy placement. Coming from a rough past, chained up in a yard, she has never and probably will never be fully trusting of humans. However, she does like other dogs and even lives with a cat friend. She is cooperative with her foster dad when it comes to daily care, but she has little to no personal interaction with him. If you adopt Harlow, there would have to be an understanding that you’re essentially just her caretaker. If you’re looking for a cuddly companion, she is probably never going to be that dog.
