Story
Rylee is a gentle German Shepherd who just recently arrived at APA. She’s still figuring out all the new sights and sounds, but is just waiting for a calm, kind person to help her fully come out of her shell. Around people, Rylee takes things slowly and appreciates calm, patient introductions. Once she feels safe, she relaxes and starts to show her sweet side. With other dogs, though? She really comes alive. She’s playful, friendly, and clearly enjoys having canine buddies to help her feel more confident. Rylee is the kind of dog who blossoms with steady reassurance and a peaceful environment. She’s smart, sensitive, and ready for someone who can help her build confidence at her own pace.

Story
Sandy Cheeks is such a patient, quiet lady. This gentle girl is very comfortable and content to hang out by a window where she can watch people and dogs going by - and squirrels. And she's also happy to follow her foster mom around the apartment, watching what she's doing. She appreciates getting petting, scratches and brushing, too. She'll sigh and fall asleep. She also enjoys a few short leash walks every day. Given some encouragement, she'll explore new places, climb rocks and sniff around. Then she'll want to go back home. She's a well-trained girl who understands "no and is house-trained. She's also comfortable in her crate and does well there or just in her bed or on the couch when her foster is away. She is fine when left to freely roam. This kind, easy going girl will be a great housemate for people in apartments, those with kids and even those adopting pups for the first time. Come meet this adorable lady!

Jackson Pollock may not be painting masterpieces, but he’s certainly creating one with his journey here! This handsome boy can be a little nervous in the shelter environment and tends to be cautious around new people—but don’t let that fool you. Once he knows you, Jackson is incredibly loyal, loving, and full of playful energy. He’s been making great progress every day, slowly building trust and showing more of his goofy, affectionate personality. Jackson loves to play and is always up for some fun—especially if treats are involved (they’re definitely the way to his heart!). With a little patience and a lot of snacks, Jackson Pollock is sure to become someone's most devoted companion. If you believe in giving a shy dog the chance to shine, Jackson is ready to meet his person.

Story
Don Dudley is a big fan of his treats! Whether it’s a biscuit, a chewy snack, or a tasty training reward, Don Dudley is always ready to sit pretty for a snack. We've learned a bit about him since he has come into our care, such as him being so curious, charming, and very motivated by food (which makes training a breeze!). In typical german shepherd fashion, he is so smart, a big loveball once he gets to know you, and the most loyal friend you'll ever have! His other love in life is anything ball related and can entertain himself no problem. Swing by and say hi to this big loaf!

Story
Kali is a purebred German Shepherd, almost five years old, with a big heart and lots of energy. She loves to play, run, and be around people. We adopted her when we had a large home in New York, but after relocating to Texas and moving into an apartment—along with welcoming a new baby—we no longer have the space or time to give her the active lifestyle she deserves. Kali would thrive in a home with a yard and an owner who can give her plenty of exercise, attention, and continued training. She’s loyal, intelligent, and full of love—ready to be the perfect companion for someone who can match her energy and affection.

Story
Meet Sydney, a serene and affectionate Belgian Malinois Shepherd mix with a heart as gentle as her gaze. Sydney is the definition of calm—nothing seems to faze her. She’s incredibly dog and cat friendly, and her low to medium energy level makes her a wonderful match for a peaceful home. Sydney is being fostered in a loving home in San Antonio, TX, where she gets along beautifully with her German Shepherd foster sister. Sydney walks beautifully on a leash and makes an excellent walking buddy for those who enjoy quiet neighborhood strolls. However, her true happy place is outside—she absolutely thrives in a yard where she can explore, relax, and enjoy nature. A home with outdoor space is a must for this sweet girl. Potty trained and polite, Sydney is well-mannered around the house. She's a little shy when meeting new people or visiting unfamiliar places, so she’ll need a patient and loving family willing to give her time to settle in. Once she trusts you, she’ll show you her soft, affectionate side and soak up every bit of attention you're willing to give. Sydney is also a cozy cuddle buddy—she loves curling up next to you on the couch for some quiet bonding time. While she’s not a fan of car rides, Sydney is happy living the homebody life. She’s currently looking for a foster or adopter in Central Texas who can offer her the calm, consistent environment she deserves. If you're looking for a gentle, loyal companion, Sydney is ready to make your heart her home. To see more pictures and videos of Sydney copy and paste this link, you can apply directly for Sydney by clicking the Apply for Adoption button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-550 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Story
Forrest is 3 years old. He is extremely loving, and playful. He absolutely loves getting new toys and he’s not afraid to tell you when he doesn’t like certain food. I’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old and I love him so much. He’s extremely protective over me which is not the greatest thing. He’s gone through boarding and training on a farm and does well with female dogs that arr almost his size, about the same or bigger. He’s doesn’t do the best with male dogs and he’s very reactive. He’s house trained, knows his name, knows to go to his area when I say go to your bed. He sits, gives me his paws to clean when he comes from outside. He loves to play outside but he’s definitely an indoor dog, he tends to get overheated when out too long. He needs an experienced pet owner, who can handle his aggression. He’s a working dog and likes to stay busy but he loves to cuddle. Back in September he did bite the vet tech and was placed on bite watch for 10 days at home.

Story
Sasha’s story: We rescued Sasha a couple years ago from San Antonio. Sasha was found in a box with her siblings when she was a puppy and was positive with parvo. Sasha is very loyal and willing to listen to commands. She loves playing ball! She is very timid and does lack confidence in herself so we are looking for the right loving forever home for her with someone who has the time to work on this with her. Unfortunately our son is allergic and we are having to rehome her. She is great with other dogs, kids and cats. If interested in meeting Sasha or if you have any questions please feel free to reach out!

Story
Introducing Yogurt (Yogi)! This beautiful girl was living on the streets of South Texas, trying desperately to protect her 10 young puppies. We rescued this family just in time as Yogi and her babies came down with parvovirus. They all received the best treatment but tragically only half of the puppies survived. Now that she is finished raising her family, Yogurt is now getting to experience the life she deserves in her foster home filled with comfort, safety, and love. She does wonderful with dogs of all sizes, especially her foster brother Rottweiler named Gus. They are the best of friends and he is helping to show Yogurt all about life as family pet in a real home. Yogi loves to be around people, especially her foster dad. She follows him all around the house and is just content with being close by. She looooves pets and belly rubs. She recently discovered toys and it’s amazing to see her so happy! Although we don’t know for sure what breeds Yogi is mixed with, we are guessing possibly Shepherd/ Belgian Malinois. She is very athletic and enjoys walks and time outside. We believe she would do amazing with a family who is active (hiking, walking, running) and can give her daily exercise. Yogurt is incredibly smart and is doing great with training, including potty-training and leash-training. Yogurt is currently undergoing heartworm treatment. Because of this, she is available for adoption to families within the Austin area. Our rescue covers the full cost of her heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adding Yogi to your family, please fill out the adoption application found on our website: www.savingsouthtexas.com/adoptables
