Story
Friendly Faces Are His Favorite Iso is a friendly, active dog who looks like a German Shepherd and is new to our care. What stands out most about him is how much he enjoys people. The prior shelter shared that he was friendly and easy with humans, including being good with the person who found him loose. Iso is treat-motivated and happily takes treats, often sitting politely for them without being asked. He enjoys interaction and engagement, especially when snacks and attention are involved, which makes spending time with him both fun and rewarding. With his shepherd looks and people-loving personality, Iso is ready to find a foster or forever home where he can continue building confidence, learning, and sharing his friendly nature with the humans around him.

Story
Big Paws, Bigger Personality Crinkle Cut is a white-coated puppy who looks like a German Shepherd and Great Pyrenees mix, and she brings plenty of classic puppy energy with her. She’s a sweet, enthusiastic girl who likes to jump up on people to say hello and would happily crawl right into your lap if given the chance. Her affectionate nature makes it clear she enjoys being close and soaking up attention. As a young pup, Crinkle Cut is still learning her basics and will need patient guidance as she grows. She’s just beginning to practice leash skills and other foundational training that all puppies need help with. With consistency, structure, and positive reinforcement, she has the potential to develop into a well-mannered companion. Crinkle Cut would do best with someone who understands puppy behavior and is ready to help her learn and mature at her own pace. With her sweetness, eagerness for connection, and playful spirit, she’s a puppy who is ready to grow alongside a committed and loving family.

Story
Big Chief — A Gentle Soul Learning to Trust Big Chief is a handsome blond German Shepherd mix, about 57 lbs, with a quiet presence and a story that explains his cautious heart. He spent much of his life surviving on his own as a stray in the St. John’s neighborhood, so people are still a new concept for him, but every day he’s discovering they can be kind. In the five weeks he’s been in care, Big Chief has already made beautiful progress. He is completely house-trained, respectful indoors, and wonderfully peaceful around other animals. In fact, he feels far more comfortable with animal companions than with humans, and another calm pet in the home may help him continue to gain confidence. Because of his past, Big Chief needs a patient adopter who will let him move at his own pace. He isn’t a dog who will rush into your arms on day one, but he is the dog who will slowly, sincerely choose you. The trust he gives will be earned and incredibly meaningful. He’s also healing physically. After living on a poor diet without care, he developed skin issues, but his coat has already improved dramatically and is growing back soft and blond. Once fully recovered, he’s going to be a truly stunning shepherd. Big Chief isn’t looking for a busy household or constant activity; he’s looking for safety, predictability, and someone willing to show him that home is forever. If you have a calm environment and a gentle heart, Big Chief may be ready to begin his next chapter with you.

Story
Kodi is 7 years old and I have owned him since he was 1. He is a very sweet dog but comes with a little anxiety and is very active. He has EPI which is a condition that affects his ability to digest his food but its easily treated and just requires a little extra attention to his food and an enzyme powder that goes on it. I unfortunately due to changes in my schedule and free time do not have the ability to give him all the attention and effort he deserves. I am hoping to find him a loving home. He is great with other dogs and kids.

Story
Meet Sydney, a serene and affectionate Belgian Malinois Shepherd mix with a heart as gentle as her gaze. Sydney is the definition of calm—nothing seems to faze her. She’s incredibly dog and cat friendly, and her low to medium energy level makes her a wonderful match for a peaceful home. Sydney is being fostered in a loving home in San Antonio, TX, where she gets along beautifully with her German Shepherd foster sister. Sydney walks beautifully on a leash and makes an excellent walking buddy for those who enjoy quiet neighborhood strolls. However, her true happy place is outside—she absolutely thrives in a yard where she can explore, relax, and enjoy nature. A home with outdoor space is a must for this sweet girl. Potty trained and polite, Sydney is well-mannered around the house. She's a little shy when meeting new people or visiting unfamiliar places, so she’ll need a patient and loving family willing to give her time to settle in. Once she trusts you, she’ll show you her soft, affectionate side and soak up every bit of attention you're willing to give. Sydney is also a cozy cuddle buddy—she loves curling up next to you on the couch for some quiet bonding time. While she’s not a fan of car rides, Sydney is happy living the homebody life. She’s currently looking for a foster or adopter in Central Texas who can offer her the calm, consistent environment she deserves. If you're looking for a gentle, loyal companion, Sydney is ready to make your heart her home. To see more pictures and videos of Sydney copy and paste this link, you can apply directly for Sydney by clicking the Apply for Adoption button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-550 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Story
Sweet Pawsey is a German Shepherd and Lab mix who recently lost her owner. She is now in a foster's home where she is enjoying running and goofing around with another dog her size. It is said that she prefers being outdoors in the backyard, as she is now discovering the smell of grass and more space. She previously lived in an apartment. Also, she and her new dog mate loves to chase squirrels and frolicking in the sun. Pawsey still loves playing fetch with toys and also goes to sleep with them. Awww...!! She is a "gentlewoman" dog with the best manners, responding well to commands like sit, stay, lay down, etc. She is also housetrained. It was also reported that she loves other dogs and all people, to include children. Please have it in your heart not to bypass a wonderfully active and healthy senior dog like Pawsey. Austin, TX area adoptions only. A fenced backyard is preferred. Pawsey's adoption fee of $250 includes the vet exam, age appropriate vaccinations, fecal test, wormer, heart worm/tick test & preventative, spay, and microchip.

Story
Introducing Yogurt (Yogi)! This beautiful girl was living on the streets of South Texas, trying desperately to protect her 10 young puppies. We rescued this family just in time as Yogi and her babies came down with parvovirus. They all received the best treatment but tragically only half of the puppies survived. Now that she is finished raising her family, Yogurt is now getting to experience the life she deserves in her foster home filled with comfort, safety, and love. She does wonderful with dogs of all sizes, especially her foster brother Rottweiler named Gus. They are the best of friends and he is helping to show Yogurt all about life as family pet in a real home. Yogi loves to be around people, especially her foster dad. She follows him all around the house and is just content with being close by. She looooves pets and belly rubs. She recently discovered toys and it’s amazing to see her so happy! Although we don’t know for sure what breeds Yogi is mixed with, we are guessing possibly Shepherd/ Belgian Malinois. She is very athletic and enjoys walks and time outside. We believe she would do amazing with a family who is active (hiking, walking, running) and can give her daily exercise. Yogurt is incredibly smart and is doing great with training, including potty-training and leash-training. Yogurt is currently undergoing heartworm treatment. Because of this, she is available for adoption to families within the Austin area. Our rescue covers the full cost of her heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adding Yogi to your family, please fill out the adoption application found on our website: www.savingsouthtexas.com/adoptables
