Hi, I'm Zayn! It has been a tough adjustment to shelter life after I was surrendered through no fault of my own. Everything was new and scary, and I wasn't sure who I could trust. But over time, I've started to come out of my shell. Thanks to the patient people here, I'm gaining confidence every day! I'm still cautious with new people (typical shepherd move!), but once I know you're safe, I'll be your loyal shadow - affectionate, playful, and full of love to give. I have an especially difficult time warming up to strange men. I think with time, patience, and understanding, I will be able to show my true self once comfortable! Like most German Shepherds, I'm protective of my space, incredibly smart, and always aware of what's going on around me. I'd really thrive with someone who has shepherd experience - someone who understands my breed and can help me feel secure and confident in my new home. I have had a hard time introducing myself to other dogs since being in the shelter, so right now I think I'd do best as your one and only pet where we can focus on helping me be the best dog I can be! I'd also do best in a home with older, teenaged children as well. I've been through a lot, but I haven't given up on finding my person. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will adore you once he knows you, I just might be your guy! Come meet me! If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home. If a dog is listed as ADOPTION IN PROCESS, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. On 12/6, she made it safely out of Arkansas and traveled to Wisconsin, where she is now settling beautifully into her foster home. From Her Foster: Sweet Pea is settling in very nicely! She loves to play with the resident dogs and absolutely loves the snow. Sweets slept overnight in her crate and is definitely living up to her name.
