He came to us after being surrendered due to a medical condition called pannus, which affects the eyes and can lead to vision loss over time. Because of changes to his vision, fast or unpredictable movement can sometimes make Sam uncomfortable. In a calm, predictable environment, he truly shines. Right now, Sam is still seeing fairly well and continues to enjoy his daily routines, affection from people, and time spent relaxing with his favorite humans. Pannus can be managed with medicated eye drops given 1–3 times a day for life, which help slow progression and keep him comfortable. Sam will do best in a quieter home with people who are patient, understanding, and willing to support him as his vision changes with age.
