Story
At just 6 months old, I'm still a youngin', but my heart is as big as a field of flowers! Sweet, submissive, and oh-so-gentle, I’m just waiting for the right family to scoop me up and make me their own. I dream of cuddles on the couch and adventures in the great outdoors. I'm not picky about my pals—I get along wonderfully with other dogs and kids. And those curious kitties? I’m curious about them too, but I know how to give them their space and be respectful. After all, every critter deserves a little kindness, right? I’m sure I could quickly learn to love a kitty sibling! I’m crate trained and housebroken, so I’m ready to settle right into your home without a hitch! I know basic commands, too. I’m very, VERY smart and always ready to learn more! If you’ve been waiting for a furry friend to love and cherish, one who’ll be by your side through thick and thin, with the softest fur to snuggle in—I'm your girl! Come meet me, Mallory, and let’s start our adventure together! FEE INCLUDES: Adopting an adult dog (6 months or older) includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, deworming, flea & tick prevention, heartworm testing, and microchipping. For dogs under 6 months, they receive age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick prevention, and microchipping. All dogs are spayed/neutered by 6 months, covered within the adoption fee. The procedure must be done at one of our partner clinics. To begin the adoption process, please submit an application on our website: www.hbwi.org/adopt. Once approved, you'll have the opportunity to meet our available dogs. Following the meeting, you can initiate a 5-day Adoption Trial, allowing you to take the dog home. This trial period is designed to ensure the dog is a match for you and aligns with your lifestyle. After the 5-day trial, if all goes well, the adoption will be finalized. Additionally, we require a home visit once the dog is settled in its new home to ensure a smooth transition for both the dog and the adopter.

Story
Lina is very sweet and a little shy, but warms up and is very loyal. She is working on potty training and crate training. She loves other dogs and plays nicely. She would probably do well in a home with older children and another dog.

Story
Pickles is a wonderfully, loving dog. He is 10 years old. I got him from the Humane Society after my dog Sarah of 16 years passed. Pickles was 1 years old when we got him and he quickly became the protector of the family that consisted of my 10 and 16 year old children and 2 cats. He has a strong build and is very muscular, a loud bark when sensing intruders, and does very well when walking by lease, very careful of me as I have had 2 hip replacements. From the onset Pickles has had allergies. When I brought his scratching to the humane society they said it was due to his vaccinations. His vet found it was seasonal allergies and he was put on Apoquel. Pickles was recently diagnosed with dry eye as well as a torn tendon. My husband is no longer employed and we cannot afford the surgery ($3,000). We do not want him in pain and have been managing it with meloxicam. Soon he will need bloodwork. Pickles has so many years of life in him and would be a loving addition to any family.

Story
Hello, my name is Ozone and I find myself in a circumstance where I need a new home. I lived with a person my whole life but unfortunately their health took a turn for the worse and they could no longer take care of me so I came to WCHS. Since I am an optimistic lad, I am making the best of my situation and spending my time romping in playgroups, taking wonderful walks with volunteers and keeping my brain busy with enrichment. I am a strong boy who is a bit strong-willed; some have even called me stubborn. In my defense sometimes I lock onto a fabulous smell and feel I must insist upon pulling towards it. I suppose one of the things I should work on is being a little more polite when on a leash; I tend to pull towards things of interest. I have a wanderlust spirit and must confess that if I am off-leash I have been known to run off in search of adventure. I do thoroughly enjoy going on walks because I have a great nose and there are so many wonderful odors to explore. I like to run and have sort of a digital method of walking; zero or one. I stop to soak in a smell, then run off to the next scent where I stop again and then repeat the process. In my previous home I lived with children from newborn to teenagers; I have lots of energy so running with kids was a good way to burn some energy. I used to play with some neighborhood dogs which also kept me active and was able to get exercise running around in my fenced yard playing fetch. In my previous home I was comfortable in a crate. It was my own private little den with comfy cozy blankets and fun toys where I could relax when I was alone in the house or snooze at bedtime. I am a smart boy and already know the cues for ‘sit', ‘down' and ‘shake/paw'; with your patient and positive training I am sure I could learn many more human words. I understand the concept of house-training and would ask to go outside by whining and pacing. When I get to my new home it would be wise to give me plenty of opportunities for potty breaks until we learn each other's signals and routines. I am a firm believer in daily exercise, both physical and mental, and would love to play brain teaser games or using a foraging mat at mealtime. I am friendly and affectionate; I would love to have long snuggle sessions in the evenings after a day filled with fun. I am a cheerful pup who is sure to bring sunshine and laughter to your home; I know we can have a magnificent life together. I hope you come by to make my acquaintance because I think it will be love at first sight.#2
