Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.org.Sponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/. Story
To learn more about Grumpy, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org Much like Snow White’s dwarf, the name Grumpy doesn’t describe his true nature. He is a high-energy, strong, extroverted, playful pup who is bursting with enthusiasm and ready to share it with anyone willing to keep up. He loves getting out for long walks and hikes, where he enjoys sniffing, exploring, and spending time with his people. Cars can make him anxious, but with patience and calm guidance (and some tasty treats) he is making progress, and once he settles he often leans in close for reassurance and affection. Grumpy can't wait to meet his new people and maybe even find a new name that reflects his joyful spirit.

Story
Mallory is a sweet, affectionate 10 yo German Shorthaired Pointer looking for a loving forever home in Prince George's County MD. She is spayed, 57 lbs., moderately active, and well socialized with children and other dogs. She is house trained, crate trained and command trained. She can stay home alone without separation anxiety or destructive behavior. Mallory would thrive with a securely fenced yard or two daily walks. Due to her prey drive, a home without pet birds or rodents is best; cat compatibility is unknown. She is sensitive to thunderstorms and fireworks, dislikes baths and nail trims, and occasionally urinates in her sleep so a bedtime potty break is important. She is very food motivated and will scavenge for unattended foods or trash that can lead to upset stomach. She is current on major vaccinations and microchipped. Veterinary records will be provided. I'm seeking a responsible, patient adopter who can offer Mallory a safe stable home for her senior years.

Story
Meet "Momo"! This little bundle of cuteness is so loveable and friendly to everyone she meets! She is learning to chase a ball but is still working on the actual game of fetch/bringing it back.  The first day I brought her home she used the edge of the small pet bed as a pillow but now she's realized it makes for a much comfier bed and loves to curl up in it for a nap.  She is still working on potty training but is getting the hang of using the pee pads.  Adoption Day: November 14th at PetSmart Tysons Corner from 10:00–10:30 AM, an approved adopter must be present to adopt. Some pups may stick around until 11:00 AM for the public event—check our Facebook page closer to the date to see if this pup will be attending the extra fun! ##2879792##

He can fall asleep anywhere and enjoys dozing off in someone's lap when he gets tired. He is learning lots these days...including walking on leash, potty training and crate training. ##2879797##
