K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/  . *Sweet, no issue w/leash, very calm.NEEDS TO BE THE ONLY DOG IN HOME....CRSpirit A547252Meet Spirit and all his lovely spots! After easily leashing him up, we passed several dogs in their kennels as we exited the building. Spirit stopped to greet a few dogs with a sniff, seeming unbothered by each encounter. He did not bark or pull, just sniffed and moved on. Outside, he relieved himself several times, which may indicate some previous housetraining. Spirit knows “sit” and will gladly do so in exchange for a treat. Spirit would love the chance to meet you!Prince George’s County Animal Shelter3750 Brown Station RdUpper Marlboro, Maryland301.780.7200Tues-Fri , 10am-6pm Saturday, 10am-4pmArrive 30 minutes before closing

Story
Luna is a 7 year old German Shorthaired Pointer mix. She was adopted when she was a puppy and has been with the same owner since. She is crate trained and house trained. Unfortunately, she is not great with children and with a growing family has not adapted to our lifestyle. She is very anxious in cars and rides in a crate. That aside, she is so loving and just needs the right situation and family to love. Luna is very food motivated so if you have the time, can be easily trained. She will love you loyally if you give her the chance.

Story
This is Cooper. He and his sweet Sister, Katie have been tossed around from rescue to rescue and living in kennels for over a year! First springer rescue got them and left them in a kennel for months before deciding they weren't springers and then someone else stepped up but they stayed in a kennel again. We have had them now and are working with them. They are so sweet and happy! Cooper walks well on a leash and is pretty close to house trained. He is neutered, UTD on all vaccines and is HW neg. We are so desperate to find these babies a loving home to live out their lives in that we are cutting the adoption fee in half but they must stay together. Please consider them! You will not regret it. Please email omlc7@hotmail.com and we will send our info and application. They are used to being outside so a fenced yard is a requirement.

This is Katie. She and her brother, Cooper have been tossed around from rescue to rescue and living in kennels for over a year! First springer rescue got them and left them in a kennel for months before deciding they weren't springers and then someone else stepped up but they stayed in a kennel again. We have had them now and are working with them. They are so sweet and happy! Katie walks well on a leash and is housetrained. She is spayed, UTD on all vaccines and is HW neg. We are so desperate to find these babies a loving home to live out their lives in that we are cutting the adoption fee in half but they must stay together. So the fee would be $550 for BOTH. Please consider them! You will not regret it. Please email omlc7@hotmail.com and we will send our info and application. They are used to being outside a lot so a fenced yard is a requirement.
