Meet Zoe, a rare gem who seems to have skipped the chaotic puppy phase. Despite her young age (around 4 months old), she is calm, quiet, and naturally well-mannered. Since arriving at her foster home, she has only barked twice, and both times were just a polite invitation for the resident dog to play! One of her most charming daily rituals involves pulling every single toy out of her bin each morning to keep herself busy throughout the day, though she is an expert sharer and has no trouble letting other dogs or humans join in on the fun.Zoe is a dream; she doesn’t jump on visitors, doesn`t beg for your dinner, and is incredibly gentle with humans of all ages, from toddlers to adults. She is just as peaceful outdoors as she is inside, preferring to sit and quietly watch the birds rather than chase after squirrels. When she isn`t birdwatching or playing with her foster siblings, you can find her napping comfortably on the couch, her dog bed, or tucked away in her crate.Zoe is already ahead of the curve in regard to training. She has been a great crate sleeper from night one, sleeping through the night without a single peep. She is also doing wonderful with her house training and has already developed a clear signal, sitting by the back door and whining when it’s time to go out. While she is still mastering `sit` and getting used to the rhythm of harness walks, she is smart and attentive and listens well. Hi there, Charlamagne here!Let me introduce myself, I am happy, go lucky guy who loves life. At a few months shy of 9 years old, they say I am a senior, but I am young at heart and ready to enjoy life.Give me a toy, especially one that squeaks and life is good. I am not really interested in playing fetch, but I do like my toys. I also love spending time in the yard and if I get to chase one of those little critters, I think you call them squirrels that is super fun. Walks are nice too and I am practicing my manners when on a leash. When we are not playing a snuggle or a good belly rub is very nice.In the house I am a great guest, if I do say so myself. I will leave your stuff alone; I know to ask to go outside to do my business and if you think it is necessary I will sleep in my crate......though I would much rather sleep on the couch if that is allowed. A canine friend would be ok though I am not really looking for a playmate so would be happy to have all of your attention.As you can see from my pictures, I always have a smile on my face. Gigi is currently in a foster home. If you would like to meet her, please start by visiting www.sccrescue.org and completing an application.Gigi is an almost one-year-old Black Retriever mix with the softest, most soulful brown eyes and a sleek, glossy coat to match. There’s a quiet sweetness about her — the kind of gentle presence that makes you instantly want to wrap her in a cozy blanket and tell her she’s safe. She is completely house trained and will run to the back door or give a soft whine when she needs to go out. Gigi loves her crate and treats it like her own little sanctuary, settling in beautifully when left alone and sleeping there peacefully at night.This tender girl is still building confidence in a big, sometimes overwhelming world. She’s very skittish and especially nervous on walks, often pulling strongly to head back inside where she feels secure. Loud noises can startle her, though she does wonderfully in a fenced backyard when it’s calm and quiet. Gigi never barks and has a submissive, passive personality. She may gently paw at you for reassurance, always communicating in the softest ways. With older kids and teens she does just fine, but she hasn’t been out much due to her fears.Gigi is food motivated, which will be helpful as she continues to work on training and confidence-building. She politely stays in her kennel during family mealtimes and sleeps either on the floor or in her crate without issue. Like many young dogs, she’s still learning that blankets and carpets aren’t chew toys — but she truly wants to please. Overall, Gigi is a very good girl who just needs patience, consistency, and lots of love. In the right calm and understanding home, she will blossom into an incredibly loyal and devoted companion.Interested in adopting this dog?
