About Me: Name: Asparagus Breed (or best guess): Goldendoodle Approximate Age: 2 yr Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 30 lb Adoption Fee: $450 Requirements: Very patient adopter, securely fenced yard Why In Rescue: breeder surrender Profile:  Asparagus is a very cautious and timid boy.  He wasn't socialized at a young age and instead lived his life in a breeding kennel.  He has been with us for a couple months, and now he will willingly walk with us to go to the outside kennel as long as we don't change the routine.  He isn't a fan of being petted or loved on quite yet, but he will hopefully get there.  If you are patient and will give him the time he needs to adjust, he will do just fine.  He loves to spend time outside in the fenced area, so a fence is necessary for his safety and happiness.  If interest in him - please read more about dogs from puppy mills and then fill out the pre-adoption application. Asparagus came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use him for breeding or was not able to sell him to a broker or pet store.  Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. This goofy yet gorgeous boy loves going for walks and sniffing every last tree and blade of grass. He loves zoomies and toys and being with people. In fact, Zorro loves people so much that he only wants to be around humans and is not a fan of other animals. For this reason, Zorro would need to be the only dog in the home. So stop me if you have heard this one...... I was walking down the road, minding my own business when BAM! I was hit by a car!!! You haven't heard this one yet??? Well, sit back and relax and let me tell you my story of despair and hard work and now, REDEMPTION!!! Yes, I was literally minding my own business- I was searching for food, water and maybe some love in the mean streets... The car accident actually SAVED my life and now I am in my foster home and it is SO AWESOME!!! BUT, I have a forever home out there looking for a hard working, happy and SWEET fuzzy face and I am going to find you! I am such a good girl, smart and sweet and huggable. I have been through alot of recovery and am getting around great (see I was partially paralyzed for a month or two after the accident) but with the knowledge and love of my foster family I can WALK again!
