Story
his golden is truly golden in the sunlight! Fleming is a 2 year-old 46 lb Golden Retriever Lab mix that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 2/2 as a stray. To say Fleming is sweet is an understatement. He is a little on the timid side. He did investigate the yard and warmed up to me quickly. He actually came and put his head on my lap. He likes to be loved on! He doesn’t appear to know the sit command but would be glad to learn as he wants to please. This is a delightful boy that is very gentle, calm and well mannered. He did his business in the yard. It did take some coaxing to get him used to the leash. He is a diamond in the ruff. This sweetheart would like nothing better than to spend time next to you on the couch in his own bed.

Story
Hi there… my name is Bruce, and I’m a new face here at Balch Springs Animal Services. I was found wandering the streets all by myself, scared and unsure. I had a collar, but no one ever came for me. For a while, I didn’t understand why.I’m a little shy when I first meet new people, but once I realize you won’t hurt me, my tail starts to wag and my heart opens right up. The staff here say I’m one of the sweetest boys they’ve met. I love other dogs, and I’m fully vetted and ready to find a home where I can finally feel safe and loved.I’ve heard people say that sometimes black dogs get overlooked in shelters. Maybe it’s because our shiny coats don’t always stand out in pictures. But I hope someone will look past my color and see me — a gentle soul who just wants to be loved. I promise I’ll be your loyal friend, your shadow, and your reason to smile every single day.All I need is a little patience, a kind heart, and a soft spot to call my own. Could that be with you?

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
What looks like a Golden but is a lot easier to take care of? It's Ola of course. She has the sweet lovable face of her Golden family side, but the shorter coat and lighter coloring of some Lab relatives (we are guessing here). At under 60 lbs, she is smaller than either breed, but that can be a great plus. Ola loves other dogs as much as she likes to hang around humans. She will be a great companion on walks and jogs, or a couch companion on lazy days. Come meet her! Our Furry Friendz are available for adoption through a screening process which includes but is not limited to: a completed application, 3 referrals, a home visit, and a vet referral prior to their furever home placement. The dogs are Spayed/Neutered, micro chipped, current on all vaccines and on heart worm/flea preventive. Story
Due to me relocating, I will have to unfortunately rehome Kaiser. He is literally the best dog anyone can have. He is snuggly, affectionate, and hyper. If you are unable to do long periodic walks throughout the day, I recommend Kaiser on a dog for you. He does well around other dogs and kids. I have not witnessed him around cats. He has shown no aggression since I’ve had him. I assume he’s around 13 months maybe 14 so he will continue to grow.
