Story
Boss is a big boy with an even bigger heart. He came to the SPCA timid and uncertain, but with some time and TLC he has blossomed into a sweet, playful dog. He can still be a bit shy on first meeting, but if you have some treats he warms up very quickly. He walks very nicely on leash, knows how to sit, and enjoys playing with his new people friends in the big yards. Boss enjoys being pet and will lean his whole body into you for more attention (I would guess that his biggest disappointment in life is not being lap-dog sized). He allows brushing without fuss too! FOSTER TESTIMONIAL: "Overall, I loved everything about Boss! He is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met and deserves all the love in the world! He is protective over others and I felt safe in his presence. He loves to cuddle and be a couch potato! He was constantly seeking to be in the same room as us and just enjoyed hanging out. He loves adventures and going on long walks. He is the perfect dog for a family that is looking for a mellow pup that loves to love!"DOGS: Boss has done well with some dogs at the shelter, but is dog selective. Please bring your dog to meet him to make sure it's a good fit!KIDS: Due to his size and sometimes timid nature, we suggest bringing children under 5 to meet Boss before making it official.Come meet Boss at the Dallas Animal Care Center @ 2400 Lonestar Dr any day 12PM-6PM!

Story
These 2 beautiful puppies walked into our patio two weeks ago. Took them to the vet and is estimated they are 14 weeks old. They received the initial DHPP shot. They are very lovely, love to play and are almost completely house trained. We need to find them a good home that are able to work with them. They are very smart and need a home with a good stable fence. They play a lot and also sleep a lot. They get along with others dogs and with each other. The vet thinks they are Golden Retreiver and Great Pyrenee. I would like if possible for them to be adopted together since they comfort each other. I hope a good and loving home will be able to adopt them. Thanks.

Story
Meet Ferguson! Ferguson is a 1 year old Goldendoodle with Megaesophagus. Normally when a dog swallows, their esophagus moves the food from their mouth to their stomach to be digested. In Megaesophagus, dogs are unable to swallow food normally because their esophagus lacks the muscular tone and motility needed to move food and water. Instead, their esophagus dilates and food backs up, causing them to regurgitate the meal.Thankfully dogs with Megaesophagus can live long and happy lives some some modifications to their day! Ferguson needs to eat and drink in a Bailey chair and sit up for 20-30 minutes after each feeding. He can't have large meals or fatty foods so 3-4 meals a day is important, he is also on a specialty diet. Ferguson is a sweet cuddly boy who just wants love. He is smart and learns quickly even though he can't have treats for motivation. Some love and attention is all the reward he needs. He enjoys playing with his foster fur brother and would love to have a fur sibling in his forever home. He does well with kitty friends too. He needs a home without younger children. One of the most important things with Megaesophagus is that there's nothing for them to eat off the floor. Even though Ferguson is a little extra work this boy is more than worth it!To set up a meet and greet or inquire about a dog, please first fill out an application at https://savinghoperescue.org/adopt It doesn't obligate you, but it is the first step. We don't get to all of the inquiries but respond to all applications. Thank you for choosing to rescue!

Story
I adopted Koda when he was around 6 mo (estimated) after he showed up on an uncle’s farm and we could not locate an owner. He is close to 2 yrs now. He came w/ some behavioral challenges I was mostly able to work through. But after moving to an apartment earlier this year, he developed new issues that I think stem from all interactions outside the home being on a leash/restrained. He is very anxious and overly excited around other people and dogs. It has only gotten worse w/ time. He was banned from daycare for aggressive humping 2 mos ago. He’s great w/ my kids (5 & 7) 99% of the time. However, he’s become toy possessive and recently bit my youngest when he went for a ball Koda was chasing. The bite required stitches. He is a very sweet, lovable, goofy boy. I love him and don’t give up on pets, but I know my home is no longer right for him. The ideal home for Koda would have a yard, no young kids and no other dogs unless you’re able to work through re-socializing him.

Story
Meet Charlie. He's an attractive yellow lab/retriever mix that came to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 9/20 as a stray. He weighs 60 pounds and is about 4 years old. He's already fixed. You may notice a few sores on the top of his head. They appear to be healing. As soon as Charlie got out into the yard, he went to the far end and did his business and then pranced back to see me. He repeated this several times. He seemed to have a lot of nervous energy. He was pacing a lot making it difficult to get photos of him. I wonder if he was missing his owners and that's why he was so nervous. Even though he did come to me, I get the feeling he has not had a lot of socialization. He sat for treats one time and took them gently. I couldn't get him to do it a second time. He doesn't jump on you. He is friendly. He just couldn't settle down long enough to receive some serious loving. I bet with some TLC and patience he would learn to love being loved on! Will you be the one to give him a chance? Charlie walks OK on a leash. He went nose to nose with some smaller dogs. Charlie has so much potential and is waiting for you to help him blossom.
