Story
Rufus (formerly Jaelen) is back and ready to find his forever adventure buddy! This 6-year-old Retriever mix spent a year and a half in a loving home, where he proved himself to be a smart, fun, and loyal companion. What Rufus loves:• Car rides with the windows down• Long walks, hikes, and even runs• Chew toys galore• Showing off his tricks — sit, down, come, and paw! He’s house-trained, independent, and always up for an outdoor adventure. He’s got a little mischievous streak (trash can raider alert), but that’s part of his charm.Rufus did well with the family dog in his previous home, though he can be selective with unfamiliar dogs. A meet-and-greet is recommended for any future dog siblings. He will chase outdoor cats, birds, and wildlife — so a secure backyard and attentive handler are a plus. He can get vocal when he’s excited or wants attention, especially in the kennel, but he settles well in a home environment.Rufus is the perfect match for an active adopter who wants a loyal sidekick to explore the world with. Come meet Rufus and see if he’s the companion you’ve been searching for!

Story
Fred came here as in June (Seguin TX) he was 3 months old. I was keeping him for someone, and now the person cannot take him back. I cannot keep him. He needs a family that has energy to spend with him. I have livestock and other critters to care for. No time or energy for a puppy. Fred is great with chickens, cats , kids, people. He does chase my sheep and I have done everything to stop him, so he only does it now when i'm not outside. He knows not to go after them when I'm with him. He is smart and trainable, but he doesn;t fit in here. He needs a place to run. He will not do well cooped up in a house or apt all day. Emancipet is a traveling vet service that neuters for way less than vets. I have not had him neutered yet

Story
Meet Reina, an adorable Goldendoodle who is a quiet, sensitive soul and is still learning the world is a safe place. She is shy and timid right now, but there’s a gentle, affectionate heart underneath that needs a little time and patience to shine. Reina is 8 months old and 40 lbs. and was raised on a very reputable breeder farm near Ft. Worth Texas. She is absolutely gorgeous and has a beautiful curly/wavy coat. Reina is current on all her vaccinations and deworming. She has made great strides in walking on a leash and is house and crate trained. She is a one-person pup right now and is very affectionate and cuddly once she bonds with you. She may also benefit from another pup. On her outings she is a bit unsure about unfamiliar noises, but she starts to loosen up after a bit and looks for gentle reassurance. If you have a quiet home, a gentle heart, and the patience to let her come out of her shell at her own pace, Reina could be yours.

Story
Gesso just turned 1 this month. He is an 85lb, golden retriever/akbash mix. We've had him since he was 8wks old. He's neutered, house broken, knows basic commands, walks well on a leash and is up to date on his rabies vax. He is a very energetic boy who needs an active home, preferably with a large yard or property to roam. An owner with prior dog and training experience is also preferable. He has been raised with our two young kids, 3 and 2yrs, and is good with them but often knocks them over because he's so rambunctious. He's good with other dogs, after a slow introduction, and would love to have another dog in the home to play with. He has an environmental allergy that makes him itchy sometimes. We've managed this with a low-dose Prednisone when we see it flare up. Gesso is a good boy but with a new baby and 2 toddlers we just don't have the time to exercise him and give him the attention he needs.
