Story
Lennon is just big lovebug! Snuggling up near her people is her favorite thing. She loves her human foster siblings and likes to be with them for all the activities. Like a typical Great Dane, she is a little nervous meeting new people, but she leans in for attention quickly! She’s pretty indifferent to other dogs but people are her jam. She is looking for a family who will teach her all the things she missed out on in her first three years of life. Someone who is home a lot and ready to train a 100+ pound baby would be ideal! She’s already making progress with potty training, and she loves to sniff around. She has even started playing with toys! Lennon wants nothing more than a comfy bed, a few belly rubs, and a family to call her own for the rest of her days! Let us know if you are it! Lennon's adoption fee is $750, which includes the price of gastropexy

Story
Meet Chico! This handsome Great Dane mix puppy is sure to steal your heart with his beautiful coat and those adorable tall ears that always seem to be listening for the next adventure. Chico is an energetic boy who wakes up ready to take on the day, whether that means playtime, learning something new, or spending time with his favorite people. Chico’s foster says he is incredibly intelligent and already picking up on training quickly. He has learned to “sit and wait” patiently when receiving his meals, and he even rings the bells on the patio door to let his foster know he needs to go outside—how smart is that? He is also currently working on crate training and continuing to build his good manners. When it’s time to play, Chico is all in! He especially loves plush toys and will happily spend time tossing them around or carrying them proudly. He’s a very sweet boy who truly enjoys being around his people and would love a home where he can be part of the fun and grow alongside his new family. If you’re looking for a smart, playful, and loving puppy to share your days with, Chico might just be your perfect match! 🐾 Stop in and meet Chico in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.

Story
Mr Loyal! That is what describes this boy in one word. Romo was once owned by someone in Aruba who then moved to the Netherlands. They gave him to some friends that let him roam the streets. We found him strolling along at a bus stop with a huge hematoma on his ear. He jumped right in the car and we took him to the vet. He had surgery and has now recovered from it. We were asked to take him with us to the US as the new owners didn't have the means to take care of him. Romo is an extremely loyal dog, calm and quiet and at the same time friendly with people and dogs. He's is extremely well mannered. Call us to hear about him and learn why we think he is the most loyal dog. His previous owner says he is 4 years old ( the vet says 5) and if you look on our Facebook page you will see all his posts about him. Oh and yes he loves riding in the car with you. He is house broken, does not like the cage to much, but that's ok. He doesn't get himself in trouble in the house. This is a great big dog! He mostly looks like a Great Daner, but could also have some Labrador in it. He is not a drooler like the Danes are. He likes other dogs but will also do well when being just with his special person. We would like to adopt him out within 40 miles of Elgin. His adoption fee is $350 to help us with the cost for his plane ride and the associated vet expenses.

Aussie is deaf, but don’t let that fool you — she’s clearly intelligent, attentive, and eager to please. She watches her people closely and picks up on cues quickly, making her a wonderful candidate for continued training and bonding through hand signals and positive reinforcement. She does well with other dogs and all kinds of people, and once she chooses you, get ready for full-time love and devotion. Aussie is ready to be someone’s loyal, constant companion and fill her future home with affection every single day. Story
Larry is a 2 year old black and white Great Dane. He is currently 120 pounds but his ideal weight is 132 pounds. When he was taken from a home in southern Indiana due to neglect in January, he was only about 80 pounds. He is very food motivated and requires a slow feeder dish. He is mostly housebroken but has marked occasionally in his foster home. He is good with large and small dogs but may benefit from a female friend - the marking may be a result of another male dog in the house. He would also do well as an only dog. We are not aware how he would do with cats but has a low prey drive and is very curious and friendly. He is neutered and up to date on all his vaccines. Larry wants to be with his people, has mastered the Dane lean, and wants nothing more than to cuddle with you. He is crated when no one is home and does not seem to mind. Due to his size, living with adults or children 12 and over is recommended. Larry rides well in the car, knows how to sit and shake, is still learning what toys are and is an absolute love bug. He walks well in a harness and will need continued training to blossom into his best self. A benign growth was removed from his back left foot and is healing well. If you are looking for a loyal dog who is happy to play outside, explore on walks with you, or just chill in the house and snuggle, Larry is your guy! If you would like to meet this dog, please call Teri at 630-897-7454. The adoption fee is $275. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming

Story
Hi, I’m Savannah and I’m ready to find my forever home. Dog’s Name: Savannah Location:  Oak Park, IL Date of Birth: 03/01/2021 Gender: Female Breed: Great Dane Mix Color: Merle Dog's Weight: 90 Gets along with: Dogs?: All Dogs Cats?:  All Cats Kids?: All kids Training: Leash Trained - walks loose leash Crate Trained - goes to crate/kennel on command - whines a bit, but settles easily Potty Trained - indicates need to potty and doesn't have indoor accidents Car - Rides well in the car . Knows basic commands (sit, down, out, off, come). Meet Savannah Savannah is a sweet, gentle soul who is still settling in and showing more of her personality each day. While she’s learning that she’s safe and loved, her foster has already discovered that Savannah has a thoughtful and curious nature. She enjoys quiet moments around the house but also loves engaging her mind with fun activities. Savannah loves long walks, forest preserve hikes, and outdoor adventures, wwimming and soaking up the sunshine, using her nose (sniffing and exploring is her favorite job!), people watching from the porch, sleeping in bed with her humans, and playing tug, hide-and-seek, and other fun enrichment games.   She's not so fond of scary storms, being bored (this girl likes to stay busy!),  fish (hard pass!) and sleeping in—she’s ready to start the day! Savannah is very responsive and will go into her crate on command without hesitation. She may whine if left crated for longer than about 30 minutes, though she sometimes settles in with time. She also hops into the car willingly, but can feel a bit nervous during rides, occasionally trembling or panting as she adjusts. One of Savannah’s most charming quirks is her adorable “grumbles”—little happy sounds that resemble purring when she’s stretching, settling in, or politely reminding you it’s time for her next activity. It’s guaranteed to make you smile every day. Savannah is wonderfully adaptable and would do well in many types of homes. A yard would be a bonus (she loves being outside!), but not required as long as she gets her daily adventures. She’d enjoy having a doggy sibling to play with, but she’s just as happy being your one-and-only. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and slightly goofy best friend who will keep you active and fill your home with love (and adorable grumbles), Savannah might just be your perfect match. Ready to meet your new adventure buddy? Savannah is waiting for you! Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, this dog is considered available for adoption.
