Story
Tall Titan, is a strong and remarkable  Warrior, a dog that has fought to be alive and walking  today on this earth.  He has willed himself to come from the depths of pain and starvation to become this handsome boy that you see right now.  He is our Super Hero Pup and our example of a creature that has never given up even when it would have been easier to just go to sleep and never wake up.  When Titan came to a rescue lady’s house that Critter Cavalry knows, this boy was malnourished and just a skeleton of the puppy he should be as a Great Dane.  The lady has a love for the Danes and she asked CCR to please take him into our rescue before she fell in love and couldn’t let him go.  She had enough dogs and just felt the temptation to keep him was too great.  We agreed and soon Titan was ours to raise and get prepped for a new home and family.  Shortly afterwards his foster family noticed he was struggling to walk and his joints were inflamed. Titan was taken to several vets before receiving the diagnosis of  Hypertrophic osteodystrophy (HOD). He has been put on a regimen of medications, high calorie food and hydrotherapy and is now running, jumping and playing with other dogs. His favorite things to do are play with toys, run and nap in the sun. Titan is a large dog and will do best in a home with another large dog or two that he will be able to play with. He will continue to need medication intermittently for some time and to be followed by a veterinarian.  If you have large breed dog experience and are willing to take on this fellas special needs please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue. He is not house trained to hold longer than 4 hours.  He needs to eat separately at mealtimes and he needs to learn better how to play with his toys in a group setting if there are other dogs.  If he is the only dog then there is no special monitoring.  Titan rides like a champ in the car or truck and he is definitely crate trained with good dog/name recall.  He would be easier to watch in the yard if you had a real physical fence installed since he likes to wander off out of curiosity.   Please email Critter Cavalry at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.  He is great with young children/boys that are rough and tumble and lots of noise. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 27, 2024, 10:00 pm

Story
Laylah is a beautiful pure bred Great Dane that is 129 pounds and 4yrs young.  This girl lost her home because the other female Great Dane was jealous of her and jumping on her to create a fight.  The family could not afford for them to seriously hurt each other. It was best to have Laylah leave the home for her own safety. She is totally vetted and  spayed and is up to date on vaccines.  She came in scared and unsure of everything because of the turmoil she has been experiencing at her home.  After some work and socializing, she has come out of her shell and she loves to be by her person's side and will make a great companion for someone.  She would most likely need to be an only dog since she is still suffering from the fear of being attacked again by another dog.  She does not show fear to all dogs…but some of the larger ones she is defensive at the moment. She hasn't been off leash around cats but seems to not mind them walking by, even appeared playful through the glass with a cat in the cat colony. She has done well meeting new people but gets nervous if her secure shelter person leaves the room.  She shows this by waiting nose to the door until her person comes back. She walks great on a leash and hops right in the car and rides well. She loves to lay on her stuffies and play with her toys, just playing never destroys them. She will carry around the toy in her mouth just to show everyone what she has. In the mornings she gets the pony girl zoomies where she just yeehawws around the yard until she wears out then she is pretty reserved the rest of the day hanging out behind the shelter desk. When too many dogs are going in out it stresses her so she gets put up in an office until things settle down.  She doesn't seem to mind kids and she will greet them gently. Another plus is that she is also housebroken.

Story
Lucy is a lovable, typical goofy great Dane. She lives with one adult two young kids, and one teenager. It is a busy household with lots of friends and families in and out. Sadly due to job loss and having to move she needs a new home. She loves to do sleepovers with her two boys at their dads house and his little tiny dog. She has played with many doggy friends at doggy daycare and visits at home, she has entropion which by the time we were able to get an appointment job loss had happened and couldn’t afford the surgery to fix this so we use eyedrops per the vets recommendation. She otherwise is very healthy. She would love to be in a home with someone who is retired or works from home if she really loves to be with her people all the time. She typically sleeps in one of the kids rooms. She really is a very lovely dog.

I'm a handsome Great Dane, estimated to be between 1 and 2 years old, and I'm on the lookout for my forever home. While I may not be a tiny puppy anymore, I still have plenty of love and enthusiasm to share. I'm currently in the process of mastering the art of potty training, but I do have the occasional accident indoors. With consistent guidance and patience, I'm making progress every day. I must admit, I do struggle with separation anxiety, so I'm hoping to find a compassionate owner who can offer me the security and reassurance I need. One of my most endearing qualities is my love for food and my eagerness to learn. I thrive on positive reinforcement and would really flourish with someone who can dedicate time and attention to my training. I'm highly intelligent, so I pick up commands quickly and am always eager to please. Although I can be a bit shy around new people, especially men, I promise I'm incredibly sweet and affectionate once I warm up to you. I'm currently working on improving my recall and responding to my name after a few tries. While I do enjoy some off-leash freedom in close proximity, it's best to wait until I'm more settled in my new environment before fully trusting me off-leash. With my large size and high energy levels, I require a minimum of 2 hours of exercise daily, making a fenced-in yard an ideal setup for me. I get along well with other dog friends and really enjoy socializing and playing with them. Given my size and energy level, I'd likely thrive in a home with pre-teen children or older. Due to my unknown background or history, my past experiences may impact my behavior in unpredictable ways, but with patience and understanding, I'm sure to become a cherished member of your family! Are you ready to open your heart and home to me? If so, I can't wait to meet you! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet. Story
I am Dana the Dane. I wear my heart on my sleeve, give BIG hugs to my foster mom and try to climb in my foster dad's lap like I am a pup even though I am 74 pounds. When I arrived at my fosters, I made my voice deep, and growly but my eyes were so wide and sad. I was terrified. I had been traveling for almost 2 days, and it was scary. Every time I started to get comfortable with someone on the trip, they left me with someone else and I had to get used to the new person only to have things change again. When new people come into my life, I get scared again because I don't know what is happening since everything is happening so fast. I had never been in a house, slept on a bed, or had love like this before. If you give me some time to adjust, I am very smart, loyal and loving. Although I am a sweet, playful, lovable dog, this foster home wasn't the perfect home for me because I am too much puppy, and I have a lot of energy, and their other dog just couldn’t adapt to me. My adoption coordinator loves the pretty way I run--I have the grace of a gazelle crossed with the playfulness of a puppy (a big puppy). I am very trainable. I like to watch and think and maybe that is why I get scared but once I figure out I am staying someplace, I will be so happy. I love treats, love, pats, and play. I’m not sure which is more important to me. Come get to know me. I will be your best pal. If you want more information on how to adopt me, please email, Alyson at rockin2ndchancesrescue@gmail.com. I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
