Story
Roo is a 2–3 year old Blue Merle Great Dane adult who weighs 85 pounds and was found abandoned by a well-known lake in Tennessee.  Someone rescued her from this terrible fate of no food or clean water and no place to be as she was wandering around the lake area very skinny and starved.  She was so grateful when someone took her home.  She then had different people foster her only for a few days at a time until this wonderful family saw her plight and need and said.....let us take her and foster her with a good rescue group.  Now this big girl named Roo has some stability in her life and has earned the nickname “Velcro dog.”  Of course this lost and abandoned girl who was deserted by a lake and then bounced a few times, wants to be right by your side and soak up every ounce of love and attention you’re willing to give her.  She will learn one day that noone is ever going to abandon her again.  This athletic girl has plenty of energy, loves to play with a happy spirit and and is an impressive olympic class jumper. She will thrive best in an active home.  Food definitely motivates her and this makes it super easy to train her and get her undivided attention. Roo is house-trained, crate-trained, cat-friendly, and absolutely loves to snuggle in the bed with her humans.    Roo bonds quickly and becomes very protective of her people so we will have tips on how to temper that zealous enthusiasm to claim you. She needs a family where she can be the queen of the castle and receive endless love and attention in return. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will stick by you through everything, Roo is your girl!       Please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested.  She is currently fostered in Tennessee and can be adopted locally and also can transport to a loving family that is northeast of Tennessee.  We transport almost weekly on the weekends.       PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJuly 12, 2026, 10:06 pm

Story
Meet Cooper! Hes a 1 year old Great Dane/Pointer mix with the sweetest personality and the cutest goofy side. Cooper is friendly, affectionate, and loves being part of whatever youre doing. He enjoys toys, chew bones, and hanging out with his people, but he also has a playful side and would love another dog to romp around with or a couple of walks each day to burn off some energy. He walks well on a leash and is doing great with both crate training and house training. Cooper gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and kids, making him an easy fit for many different kinds of families. Hes neutered, fully vaccinated, and ready to find a forever home of his own.

Story
Meet Barnes, a big ol’ goofy puppy who is always tripping over his massive paws.  Barnes is clumsy in a Marmaduke kind of way, which made complete sense after we got the breed test back for Barnes’ brother.  The results: 100 percent Great Dane.  Barnes and his siblings were dumped as tiny puppies near a busy road, so we don’t know anything about the parents and have no way of knowing if the breed results are 100 percent accurate. But the pups have been growing at a rapid pace (gaining about 3-4 pounds a week) and will definitely be very large dogs.  Barnes does seem to have the wonderful qualities and temperament of a Great Dane. He is loyal, affectionate, social and calm — a gentle giant in the making. He loves to snuggle and likely has a bright future as a couch potato and lap dog. He’s very food motivated and smart, making him easy to train. Barnes also loves other dogs and is absolutely fearless around them.  Barnes is looking for a forever family who understands the complexities of owning a very large dog. He also still has a lot of basic skills to learn, so he will need a home that can finish up the work of potty training and crate training. But Barnes is sure to be a loving and loyal companion for the right family. Meet Donahoo, a puppy who is loyal, friendly, calm and growing at lightning speed. Could he be a Great Dane?  Well, to our surprise, a breed test done on Donahoo’s brother Duke indicated that the litter could be 100 percent Great Dane.  Donahoo and his siblings were dumped as tiny puppies near a busy road, so we don’t know anything about the parents and have no way of knowing if the breed results are 100 percent accurate. He is loyal, affectionate, friendly and calm — a gentle giant in the making. He loves to snuggle and likely has a bright future as a couch potato and lap dog. Meet Duchess, a little pup who will one day be a dog of great stature!  And by stature, we mean that Duchess is going to be extremely tall! To our surprise, a breed test done on Duchess’s brother Duke indicated that the litter could be 100 percent Great Dane.  Duchess and her siblings were dumped as tiny puppies near a busy road, so we don’t know anything about the parents and have no way of knowing if the breed results are 100 percent accurate. But the pups have been growing at a rapid pace and will definitely be very large dogs. As of July 1, Duchess is approximately eight weeks old and already weighs 16 pounds.  Duchess does seem to have the wonderful qualities and temperament of a Great Dane. She is loyal, affectionate, friendly and calm — a gentle giant in the making. She follows her foster mom everywhere and already climbs on the couch to sit in her lap. Duchess has a promising future as a couch potato and lap dog.  Duchess is looking for a forever family who understands the complexities of owning a very large dog. She also still has a lot of basic skills to learn, so she will need a home that can finish up the work of potty training and crate training. Story
Scuba was originally found as a stray and wound up at a kill shelter in Georgia. A person adopted him in Boston, and Scuba was brought up North. Unfortunately, the person never showed up when it was time to pick Scuba up. He has since been looking for a place to call home. He’s currently housed at a daycare facility in Brookline. Scuba *predictably* has some hesitation when it comes to strangers. He takes a minute to warm up. Within 30 mins, you’ll be best friends. But initially, he’s scared, and may bark. He’s also a bit jumpy, and needs continued training to get basic manners down (he’s still young - right at 12 months old). He would thrive with a backyard and a pup friend to play with. He’s been passed around like a hotcake, and 3 families have returned him. He’s really starting to show stress from the lack of consistency in his life. He needs someone to actually give him a week or two to decompress and that will actually love him for who he is - a silly, quirky goofball.
