Story
MAXINE AVAILABLE FOR: Adoption BORN: February 2021 SEX: Female BREED: Great Dane/Pit Bull Terrier Mix WEIGHT: 75 lbs. MARL ARRIVAL: Maxine was surrendered by her owner who could no longer care for her. BACKGROUND: Who is this beautiful, playful, crowd pleaser? Everyone say MAXINE! This goofy, galloping girl is looking for someone who doesn't mind a 75+ lap dog, devoted shadow, and trusty vacuum (for all the crumbs she really hopes you might drop.) She does not hold back with her love and you can often hear her tail far before you reach her kennel as she can't contain her excitement when her favorite people come to spend time with her! All she needs is a chance, do you have room in your heart and your home for a dog like Maxine? COMPATIBILITY: Based on our evaluation, we feel that Maxine has the potential to get along with other dogs but would do best as the only animal in the home. Maxine would do best with children 13 years or older. MEDICAL NEEDS: None. https://marl.org/animal/maxine/

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! Story
Alexander needs a QUIET home that is content with a homebody who prefers to be home and not to have many visitors in their house. Alexander is on some pain medication that will need to be given daily. Alexander enjoys attention on his own time and prefers to seek out attention when he wants it and be left alone when he goes to his quiet/safe spot. An experienced giant breed home is preferred. Alexander requires daily medication and some support with transition to his new home Alex is a Dane who will need time to settle into a new environment and come out of his shell. He is not a Dane that will be loving and in your face all of the time and enjoys quiet time on his own. Alexander loves car rides and lounging on comfy furniture or dog beds. He also enjoys the company of low-key female Danes and does better with another dog in the home.

Story
Leo is a two year old black male Great Dane who comes from a tough beginning. Due to this beginning he is slow to warm up to new people and can be slow to warm up to new dogs. Leo would thrive as an only dog, but could do well with a resident dog that respects his space and doesn't want to play 24/7. Leo can sometimes try to be the only apple of his family's eye, so needs some continued guidance on how to share attention with others. Leo would do best in a Dane-experienced home that understands he will take time to decompress and adjust to his forever family. He would enjoy a quiet home that will work on exposing him to new things very slowly and always setting him up for success with baby steps.
