Story
My adoption fee is $100 Here's what you need to know about me:I can be shy in new spaces. I need a family who will let me take things at my own pace as I learn about new things. Once I come out of my shell, I have lots of love to give.I can be nervous around new people. It just takes me a little while to get comfortable with new people. But once I get to know them, I'm very loving. It's recommended I meet any dogs or kids living in my new home before I'm adopted. I just want to make sure we all get along.I'm not on the general adoption floor. You might not see me when you come to visit. So please speak to an adoption counselor if you'd like to meet me.I'm available for Trial Adoption! If you're interested in taking me home for 2 weeks before making a final decision, please email adoptions@southwesthumane.org.I'm currently in foster and ready for my new home! If you're interested in meeting me, please email adoptions@southwesthumane.org. Primary Color: Black Weight: 80 Age: 1yrs 8mths 3wks

Story
Douglas is a sweet 2 yr old Great Dane mix looking for a very special home. His owner had to move cross country due to an emergency, and he is in the care of a friend who loves him but cannot keep him due to his size and his needs. It’s important to note that he has previously exhibited reactive behaviors towards other dogs or people, so he needs a home that is willing to work with him. Currently he is improving! He is goofy, sweet, intelligent, cuddly and energetic. He smart & can be prone to boredom behaviors, so he would do well with lots of activity. He can be a great hiking companion but is also content to nap beside you; he needs intellectual stimulation like puzzles and tasks more than he needs to get tired out with walks. His perfect owner would be an experienced owner of large breed & reactive dogs, who has a lot of time & patience to dedicate to him, ideally home a lot Maybe you have land where he can run. He should be the only dog, at least for now. No kids please.

Story
Ash (fawn) is a small female Great Dane and is roughly 2 years old (DOB: 04 April 2022). She was the runt of her litter and is slightly under 100 lbs (the size of a large husky). She is gentle and great with kids and dogs. She loves sunbathing and anywhere warm; whether that's near a fireplace or cuddling on the couch. She is very laid back and lazy. A quick walk around the neighborhood is more than enough for her exercise/energy level since she doesn't really like to play fetch. She hardly barks and loves blankets. Ash loves to play wrestle with her "brother," Rook. She is fairly low maintenance which makes us believe that she will be great with any family that loves a larger dog. Although we've never had a reason to crate her, Ash is crate/kennel trained. She can be trusted to be left alone at the house without damaging anything, and that is typically what we do. We are hoping that Ash and Rook can be rehomed together since they spend every second of the day with each other.

Story
Rook is a male Great Dane (black). He is roughly 1.5 years old (DOB: 30 May 2023). He is an XL dog coming in at around 135 lbs. He is still in his "teenage" stage and can be a little oblivious to social dog cues; he doesn't realize many dogs are intimated by his size. We take him out often to be safely socialized with other dogs, and hope his future family will too. He is very lovable and will likely be glued to your side at all times regardless of what you're doing. Rook would never hurt a bug and he loves to play wrestling with his older "sister" Ash. Since he is still young, he has a little bit of energy, and walking him for 30 minutes to 1 hour a day will be ideal. However, he will gladly cuddle up next to you every chance he gets. He is also crate-trained. We've never had to leave him home alone, but he can get whiney if Ash is not around. He is also due to be neutered. We are hoping that Ash and Rook can be rehomed together since Ash basically raised him from puppyhood.

Story
Snoopy is currently in board and train for his basic commands as well as socialization. He was kept outdoors 24/7 with another dog and rarely ever fed and never interacted with so he just needs some training to learn how to be a dog. Please reach out to us if you are interested so we can keep you up to date on how he is doing in training and when he will be adoptable.
