Please contact JoEllen (sagdinfo@aol.com) for more information about this pet. Please apply online at http://texasgreatdane.org/adoption-application/       ** This dog is in a foster home in San Antonio, TX. Prospective adopters must be able to travel to San Antonio to complete the adoption process.  Please apply online at http://texasgreatdane.org/adoption-application/ ** Meet Calla! This gorgeous 18-month-old Harlequin Great Dane weighs in at 90 pounds and is a fun-loving bundle of energy looking for a family to call her own. Calla absolutely adores people of all sizes and has never met attention she didn’t like. She’s happy to soak up all the love and then turn right around and show off her playful side. This smart girl already has some great skills under her belt — she is house broken, kennel trained, has mastered the dog door, and knows commands like sit and shake. Calla gets along well with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends, but because she’s an enthusiastic girl who sometimes forgets just how big she is, she would do best with another larger dog buddy. The little dogs in her foster home occasionally find themselves getting accidentally bulldozed during playtime! Calla’s journey to rescue has been a rough one. She was picked up multiple times as a stray before finally making her way to us after needing medical care for injuries to her side and stomach. She has been treated, is healing nicely, and her stylish T-shirt is helping her through recovery. Through it all, Calla has remained incredibly sweet and trusting. Now this beautiful girl is ready to leave her past behind and find a family that will give her the love, stability, and forever home she deserves. If you’re looking for a goofy, affectionate, big-hearted best friend, Calla may be your perfect match. Please understand you are committing to providing a good home for her entire life (up to 15+ years or more.) You must be committed to housebreaking, age-appropriate enrichment and exercise, leash training, grooming needs, and positive socialization. Her adoption fee is $350. This includes her spay surgery, rabies vaccination, Nobivac® Canine 1-DAPP vaccination, Nobivac® Intra-Trac 3 vaccination, Drontal® Plus, IDEXX SNAP® 4Dx Plus Test, 24PetWatch® microchip, and leash and collar. Please be aware that puppies and small breed dogs do get adopted quickly so interested parties are encouraged to apply online at www.saspca.org. Please ensure your application is complete before submitting. We do verify property ownership, landlord references, apartment/HOA restrictions, veterinary references. Our adoption events are held every other Saturday at Petco located in the Northwoods Shopping Center at 18138 San Pedro Ave, San Antonio TX 78232.  Event hours are 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Additional questions may be directed to sagdinfo@gmail.com. ** This dog is in a foster home in San Antonio, TX. Prospective adopters must be able to travel to San Antonio to complete the adoption process.  Please apply online at http://texasgreatdane.org/adoption-application/ ** Meet Ellie May! This stunning 2-year-old Blue Great Dane weighs about 90 pounds and is one of the sweetest girls you could ever hope to meet. With her calm, loving personality and gentle nature, Ellie May is happiest when she’s simply near her people soaking up love and companionship. Ellie May does wonderfully with people of all sizes and would love nothing more than a family of her own to call hers. She gets along well with both dogs and cats and has a laid-back personality that makes her an easy companion. She is house broken, does great in a kennel, and absolutely loves curling up on her dog bed for some relaxation time. Like all of us, Ellie May has one little quirk — she absolutely adores stuffed toys and takes her love for them very seriously! She has shown some guarding behavior with stuffed toys around other dogs, so her foster family simply removed them and the issue was easily managed. Ellie May also had a bump in the road on her journey. She tested positive for heartworms, but she has completed the fast-kill treatment and should be good as new moving forward. This sweet, gentle giant is ready to leave the hard parts behind and find a forever family that will give her all the love she deserves. If you're looking for a calm, affectionate best friend with a giant heart, Ellie May may be your perfect match. Story
Meet Boone – A Gentle Soul Ready for a Fresh Start Boone is a striking Great Dane and Black Mouth Cur mix at 65 pounds with soulful eyes and a quiet, thoughtful demeanor. Rescued after being abandoned on the roadside, Boone's past suggests he was used as a hunting dog and likely spent much of his life confined to a kennel. This history has left him shy and cautious at first, but with time, patience, and kindness, Boone reveals his deeply affectionate side. Once he begins to trust, Boone becomes a devoted companion who craves gentle affection and enjoys peaceful moments with his person. He thrives in a calm environment and takes comfort in the presence of other dogs—he gets along wonderfully with canine companions and would benefit from a home with another friendly dog to help boost his confidence. Currently being fostered in Seguin, TX, Boone is looking for a foster or forever home in Central Texas only. He needs a loving, understanding family who can help him continue to blossom at his own pace. His ideal adopter would be someone familiar with hounds or someone who appreciates the gentle, loyal nature of these incredible breeds. If you're a hound enthusiast or simply someone with a kind heart and a quiet home, Boone may be the perfect match for you. He’s not just looking for a home—he’s looking for someone who sees his potential and will offer the love and patience he’s never known before. Boone is ready to start again.
