Story
Hello, hello! I’m Odette, and you are…? I bet you are wondering how a dog like me wound up in the hands of a rescue group. Well, I was found by San Antonio Animal Care Services after being hit by a car. I was in rough shape with a broken front leg as well as having great difficulty using my back end. Fortunately, the shelter provided me with much-needed analgesics and gave me a little time to see how I might recover. After about a week I was able to rise. I won the hearts of the shelter workers and they started their campaign of finding me a rescue or eligible adoption placement. Something about my pitiful face, tattered ears, and bum leg prompted SNIPSA to take a chance on me. Fast forward and x-rays showed not only did I have a fractured radius and ulna, but I also suffered a traumatic tear to my ACL. The kind doctor at STVS put my front leg back together with a metal bone plate and lots of screws (I don’t want to count but I saw the x-ray and wow that’s a lot of metal for a girl like me). Now I spend countless hours as a “couch hog” resting and dreaming about my days of frolicking through green pastures. Down the road, I will have my knee repaired but for now, I am doing quite fine. I love to explore the backyard and have especially enjoyed all our beautiful sunshine. I am putting on some weight and my coat is ever so shiny. Docile, curious, regal, and kind – I am a fantastic specimen of a dog. I love everyone I meet and don’t quite understand that my large head can take up almost your entire lap. My long legs fill up the entire back seat and my shoulders sit well above your knees. I love kids and other dogs alike, and am just happy to be alive. Being a Great Dane mix, I am gentle, loyal and a little goofy. The more you read about my breed, the more you will grow to love us. You may notice that my adoption fee is slightly higher due to all the extra medical care I have received. I have been lucky to have a great team supporting me along the way and look forward to the day when I will find my forever people. So, won’t you consider adopting me? Although you may have to buy a little extra dog food or invest in a family sized dog bed, I promise not to disappoint. I am in it to win it!!!!

Story
Let me introduce myself - My name is Deuce. I'm part Great Dane, part Black Lab and 100% goofy! Play time is the absolute best, especially with other dogs with similar play styles. I love going on adventures, like hiking, exploring, and car rides - yes please! I've been told I'm a bit of a sun-worshipper - who doesn't enjoy a good nap, soaking up some rays?!?! I play nicely with my stuffed toys and even share nicely with my canine friends. If I get bored while alone, I will find something to keep me busy, so I much prefer to have a human or canine companion. I'm treat motived and know some basic commands, like sit and down. I enjoy learning new commands and skills, I may not be the fastest learner, but I am a thorough learner. Deuce has been at the shelter since August 2021 - he is so ready for his forever home. Deuce has a little extra in his swagger, kind of a "John Wayne" walk. Occasionally you'll catch him skip a beat in his gait or he might easily trip, but it certainly doesn't slow him down for walks, jogs, or play time. If anything, it makes him even more interesting and endearing. Deuce may chase cats that run but may be able to co-exist with cats that stand their ground. Mostly he just wants to play with them. Deuce can be a little unsure around new people so he will need a patient adopter that allows him to get to know new people at his pace. Most importantly, Deuce is loving, loyal and will melt to the ground when doted on - he will make a truly wonderful companion and keep you smiling from all his silly antics!

Story
Ari is a very sweet girl with a quirky personality. We are unable to give her the freedom she needs and has caused behavior issues with our other dog. Given the right home she would thrive. She loves being outside and would do best as an outside dog. She loves to run around and play with toys. She has lived with cats before and has been around children in small increments. She is slow to trust but once she does she is extremely loyal. Shes a free spirit but does best with structure. She can be food aggressive if she feels threatened but can be fed in a different space. She is a little over 3 and was found as a stray. She has grown into a beautiful girl and quite the guardian.
