Story
Meet Fergie – A True Lady With a Heart of Gold ?Fergie’s life didn’t begin the way any dog deserves. She was found tied to a post outside a store, shivering in the freezing cold rain, waiting for someone to notice her. Despite the neglect and sadness of that day, Fergie has never let it define her spirit. From the moment she was rescued, she has shown nothing but love, grace, and forgiveness.Fergie is one of the most extraordinary dogs we’ve had the privilege of knowing. She is smart, gentle, and incredibly kind. She carries herself with a quiet sweetness that makes everyone who meets her fall instantly in love. Fergie especially shines around children—her best friend in foster care is a 9-year-old boy whom she absolutely adores. The bond between them is heartwarming: she listens to him with patience and loyalty, follows his lead, and showers him with endless affection. It’s as if she knows she was meant to love and protect children all along. She is the kind of dog who seems to understand emotions and situations far deeper than most. Whether she’s happily following her little buddy around the yard, quietly laying by your side, or greeting you with a wagging tail and soft eyes, Fergie has a way of making every moment feel special. Now, Fergie is ready for her forever family. She longs for a home where she will never again know the cold, the rain, or the loneliness of being left behind. What she deserves is warmth, safety, and the joy of being truly part of a family. In return, she will give you unwavering loyalty, gentleness, and a kind of love that only a dog like Fergie can offer.?? If you are looking for a family dog who is not only amazing with kids but also full of love, intelligence, and grace, Fergie is waiting to meet you.

Story
Please contact JoEllen (sagdinfo@aol.com) for more information about this pet. Please apply online at http://texasgreatdane.org/adoption-application/       Meet Sammy — your future giant best friend!   Sammy's foster mom says he's going to make a fabulous pet for someone willing to give him a chance. His previous homes didn't provide much structure or training so he's grown into a 110lb puppy that's learning how to behave responsibly.    Sammy is a 9-month-old blue eyed Great Dane with a whole lot of personality packed into a very big body! He’s active, goofy, and always ready for his next adventure. Because he’s still a growing boy with lots of energy, he’s looking for a home with large-breed experience and people who enjoy staying active. He needs structure, exercise and mental stimulation to live his best life.    Sammy is learning his manners and will need continued work on leash skills and basic training, but he’s eager to learn and loves people. He does great with other dogs and makes friends everywhere he goes! Cats are unknown. Due to his size and enthusiasm, older kids would be best—little ones might get accidentally bowled over by so much love.   He uses a crate when left alone at home. He loves to be with his people, but will entertain himself with chew toys and bones.     &#239&#184&#143 Certified snugglebug and proudly delivers the classic Dane lean whenever possible.   If you’re ready for laughs, cuddles, and a lovable giant by your side, Sammy might be your guy!     Sammy's adoption fee is $350 and an online application can be completed at www.texasgreatdane.org.    - IMPORTANT INFORMATION -   SASPCA Homeward Bound Dog Rescue and San Antonio Great Dane Rescue are 501(c)(3) foster-based rescue groups based in San Antonio, Texas.    Our group focuses on assisting open admission shelters in South Texas where over 32,000 dogs and cats are euthanized each year.   Our puppies and dogs are completely vetted and live in foster homes. They are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and tested for heartworm disease. All adoptions include one month of flea and heartworm preventative and a leash and collar.   We also host additional adoption events throughout the year.  Please visit our Facebook pages for the most current event schedules.   https://m.facebook.com/HomewardBoundDogRescue/?tsid=0.11494693985281179&source=typeahead   https://m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=185497084826453&tsid=0.7626298417270982&source=typeahead     If your adoption application is approved and you are traveling from out-of-town, we hold your chosen pet for one hour past the event start time to allow for travel time.     We are an all-volunteer organization and do not currently have the resources to process out-of-state adoptions.     Our puppies, purebred dogs, and small breed dogs do get adopted quickly so we encourage interested parties to apply online.   Please apply here:   http://texasgreatdane.org/adoption-application/   December 29, 2025, 9:51 pm

Story
Meet Boone – A Gentle Soul Ready for a Fresh Start Boone is a striking Great Dane and Black Mouth Cur mix at 65 pounds with soulful eyes and a quiet, thoughtful demeanor. Rescued after being abandoned on the roadside, Boone's past suggests he was used as a hunting dog and likely spent much of his life confined to a kennel. This history has left him shy and cautious at first, but with time, patience, and kindness, Boone reveals his deeply affectionate side. Once he begins to trust, Boone becomes a devoted companion who craves gentle affection and enjoys peaceful moments with his person. He thrives in a calm environment and takes comfort in the presence of other dogs—he gets along wonderfully with canine companions and would benefit from a home with another friendly dog to help boost his confidence. Currently being fostered in Seguin, TX, Boone is looking for a foster or forever home in Central Texas only. He needs a loving, understanding family who can help him continue to blossom at his own pace. His ideal adopter would be someone familiar with hounds or someone who appreciates the gentle, loyal nature of these incredible breeds. If you're a hound enthusiast or simply someone with a kind heart and a quiet home, Boone may be the perfect match for you. He’s not just looking for a home—he’s looking for someone who sees his potential and will offer the love and patience he’s never known before. Boone is ready to start again. Story
Breaker is up for adoption in TX, NE and PNW (excluding MA)! Breaker is a 1-year-old, 65-pound Great Dane/Boxer mix with a heart as big as his goofy grin. This splash-happy pup LOVES the water—whether he’s chasing toys into the pool, splashing through a creek, or just romping around the yard, Breaker is always up for adventure. With the playful energy of a Boxer and the gentle, loyal nature of a Dane, he’s the best of both worlds—equal parts fun and affection. Breaker is dog-friendly (with pups his size), loves people, and is happiest when he’s part of the action. He’s making great progress with crate training and is learning his puppy manners, especially when treats are involved. Breaker wasn't given much structure as a pup so, Breaker sometimes tries to play bite to get his way. Even after a board-and-train program, he will need a family committed to consistent, positive reinforcement training to help him reach his full potential. Breaker would thrive in an active home with space to play and maybe even a doggy sibling to share his adventures with. If you’re looking for a loyal, silly, water-loving companion who will keep you laughing and fill your days with joy, Breaker is your guy! To see more pictures and videos, copy and paste this link.
