Hey there! I'm Flappy Jack. Don't let my giant size fool you, I am just a giant chill boy. I like to live life slowly and in the moment. Being that I a guardian dog breed, I love having lots of space outside to mozy around and enjoy the fresh air. I came in as a stray so my friends at Heartland don't know a lot about my past. I have met a few dogs here at Heartland and I ignored them and just did my own thing, however, I do find cats to be EXTRA interesting and I should NOT live with them. With my curious nature, if you have other dogs in the home, I'd like to meet them before going home with you. Please stop by Heartland and let the staff know if you'd like to meet me.

Grits are good for you, ask any Southern mama :) You guessed it, my name is Grits and I have a LOT of determination! I came from the pound with HORRIFIC injuries related to a multiple dog attack :( And boy I was in pain and had horrible infections and was so so skinny and just sad... But the rescue peeps fixed me up! It took several weeks of LOVE, good nutrition, wound care and "heart repair" to return my zest for life and to see the glimmer of hope in my eyes... Now I am all fixed up, healthy and happy and READY for you!! Don't ever let me be out on the streets again, fighting off other dogs to live. Give me your COUCH, an air conditioner and lots of love and treats and I will be yours FUREVER!!! And speaking of fur, well, you know I am a Great Pyrenees and we SHED great amounts, so you must love me more than my hair!!! Muffin 💛 4 month old male Pyrenees/anatolian shepherd mix. He is doing great with potty training and he kennels really well during the day and loves to play with dog toys. He is always on high alert and would be an excellent gaurd dog. He is the first one to bark when he hears something strange but not in excess. He does great with the rabbits, cats, small elderly dogs and big dogs. He can be a little shy at first but once he gets to know you he warms right up. He loves being outside exploring with the family or inside taking a nap. He would be wonderful for a household with an adult dog that can teach him the ropes or a family willing to expose him to lots of different things.   Meet Jimmy! Jimmy is a 3 year-old Pyrenees mix who was surrendered to an overcrowded shelter by his owner. You could see the heartbreak in Jimmy's face but despite his devestation, Jimmy's delightful personality and wonderful temperament shined. He is a social guy and spent a lot of time in play groups with other dogs and winning over the staff and volunteers at the shelter. Jimmy is a sensitive guy who has a strong drive to be in the company of his people or canine friend. He will happily greet you with a toy in his mouth, followed by rolling over for belly rubs. He is the definition of a gentle giant. Jimmy is looking for a home where he can be included in his families day to day routine and his time alone would be minimal. Meet The Seven Dwarfs!  They are available for adoption through our friends at Love Leo Rescue. They’re currently in LA, but transport to the PNW is available.  These sweet puppies were born to a Pyrenees mix mom and were found as strays in the desert. We think they may be mixed with Australian Shepherd. They are roughly 9 weeks old now and we’re guessing they will be somewhere in the 70 pound rings at maturity.
