At about 3.5 years old and 35 lbs. each, Lightning and Mater are social, adventurous boys who have done very well meeting a variety of dogs at the sanctuary. They love to play, communicate appropriately with other dogs, respond well to boundaries and corrections, and are easy to redirect. They can be enthusiastic playmates, so canine friends who appreciate their energy and playful style would be the best fit. And if your family loves the outdoors, these two are ready to join the fun! Lightning and Mater absolutely LOVE the water and would make wonderful companions for hikes, outdoor adventures, and days spent exploring together. They know some basic cues, listen well, and are very people-oriented, making them eager to engage with their handlers. We think these boys could do wonderfully with children 8 and over and would thrive with an active family committed to giving them plenty of exercise, enrichment, affection, and opportunities to be included in everyday life. Due to their high energy and play style we recommend a household with no cats. Most importantly, Lightning and Mater share a very special bond. Shrek is a great name for me! I am kind of a sweet OGRE looking boy with a loving heart and kind of beat up body. It is HARD to live on the streets! I had an old injury so limping was my norm. It was discovered that my back leg had been broken and healed very wonky. Now my bad leg is gone and I am pain free! NOW, I am a healthy TRIPOD boy looking for just the right family...one who will care for me for all my days! I deserve it and you deserve this cute OGRE in your life too!
