Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bolt is waiting patiently for his forever home! Bolt is a 5 1/2 year old Great Pyrenees-Catahoula leopard dog mix. Bolt is a sweet and loyal companion, enjoys being in the yard when his foster mom gardens, and loves pets and attention. Bolt has a serious side, he barks when he perceives a threat (the UPS truck, mailman, etc) and a silly side, finding all sorts of random things to play with-he’d rather forage something around the house and cares less about dog toys. Bolt is super helpful around the house, he loves to help load the dishwasher, clean off the counters, and helps with the laundry by dragging clothes and towels from the laundry room outside in the rain, lol, he’s all about conservation! His new family should be sturdy as he can get spunky and want to play while doing zoomies around his people. He would love his own person/people to reciprocate his loyalty, someone who likes to relax and also find adventure. If you are looking for your “ride or die” dog, that’s Bolt, he is smart and eager to please. Bolt could get along with a female dog but would prefer to eat alone. Bolt is being fostered in Tacoma, WA and can be transported within WA and OR . All our dogs require secure VISIBLE fencing. All current pets in adoptive home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations.  Adoption Fee: $175 All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Here's Texana!  Texana is a beautiful, sweet and spunky  1 1/2 yr old girl, looking for a new place to crash.  She's come a long way in her current home, she would just prefer to be the only queen of the castle.  What we know of Texana, she was brought up to the PNW from Texas when she was about 3 months old and unfortunately, did not have a lot of socialization in her younger years.  Regardless, she knows some commands and wants to please her people.  Common of Pyrs she likes to patrol the property, bark at any potential threats, and can be a little stubborn, which is one of the reasons we love our Pyrs!  She's not a fan of cats and has not been exposed to livestock.  She would like do okay with a mellow male dog, meet and greets prior to adoption would be helpful.  Texana is being fostered by her current family in Olympia, WA and can be adopted within WA-OR.  All our dogs require secure VISIBLE fencing. All current pets in adoptive home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations.  We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 6.  Adoption Fee: $275 All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Transport Fee: $350 Transport fee includes the cost of transport plus the Health Certificate required for USDA approved transport. Adoption applications can be found on our website: www.greatpyrsandpaws.org https://greatpyrsandpaws.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5959   Northwest adopter pays cost of transport to independent transport company.  Transport is arranged by GPPR.       Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 24, 2026, 11:41 am

Story
Lily was adopted when she was about 4 months old from Austin Animal Center. It was not until we got home and spoke with a Vet that she was diagnosed with nerve damage to her rear end. The issues are that only about 1/4 of her tail functions, and she has gut issues. She is currently on medication to keep her stool firm and to avoid accidents. She also wears a diaper while on the furniture and overnight, this is purely precautionary. She is about 1 year old now and is super sweet! She is low maintenance and does very well when she is home alone. She is the perfect cuddle dog and will give all the love back to you that you give her! We are looking to rehome her only because our changing jobs and schedules, she would have a better life with people able to spend lots of time with her and other pack mates if you have them.

Story
Sitter needed: 03/12/26 - 03/23/26 Say hello to Dewbert — or Dooby, as his foster family lovingly calls him! This big, happy Great Pyrenees is equal parts gentle giant and goofy sidekick. With his soulful eyes, calm presence, and joyful personality, Dooby brings a little sunshine wherever he goes. Since joining his foster family, Dooby’s transformation has been incredible. His coat has healed beautifully, his confidence has blossomed, and he has truly settled into home life. He loves being near his people and has recently shown just how devoted he is by becoming especially protective and nurturing toward the family’s newborn. That loyal streak is one of his sweetest qualities. Because of this strong protective instinct, Dooby would thrive as an only dog in a loving home where he can bond closely with his people. While he has previously enjoyed playing with the family’s resident dog, he recently showed that he prefers not to share his space or his humans with other pets. However, he is a dream when meeting dogs on walks, puppy playtimes, or when going to a fun happy hour with other furry friends. Dooby is also a classic Great Pyrenees through and through, which means a fenced yard is a must. It’s his happy place to explore, sunbathe, and do his signature “patrols.” One of his funniest quirks is his nightly security rounds. He quietly pads through the house 2–3 times a night just to make sure everyone is tucked in safely. It’s impossible not to smile when you catch him taking his job so seriously. He continues to do well with humans of all ages and is wonderfully gentle, affectionate, and steady. His resource guarding is only directed toward other animals, not people, and with a pet-free home, this won’t be a concern day-to-day. With his humans, he is nothing but a big, loving teddy bear who wants to be close and be part of the family. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will adore you, make you laugh, and fill your home with warmth and devotion, Dewbert is your guy. He’s ready to be someone’s one-and-only, and he will absolutely shine in that role.

Story
Meet FAUNA! • Female • Anatolian/Lab mix • 1 year old • 41 pounds • Medium energy • Good with dogs • Great in a harness • Working on potty training Fauna doesn’t ask for much—just a space to stretch her legs, a canine buddy to share her days with and a family who understands that love sometimes grows quietly. She’s the kind of dog who finds joy in the simple things: crunching on a treat, walks around the yard and the occasional burst of play. Initially shy, Fauna's true self is a calm and quietly observant pup, with a slight independent streak. While she isn’t one to demand constant affection, Fauna’s gentle heart blossoms under patience and will ask for the occasional pat. She’s a stellar walker and would thrive in a home with a yard, daily routine and another dog. In time, Fauna will be the predictable, sweet and low-maintenance buddy every family dreams of Fauna is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative. For more information about Fauna or our shelter please call us at (830) 693-0569 or visit our website at highlandlakescaninerescue.org If you would like to schedule a meet and greet with Fauna or any of our dogs, please fill out an application at https://www.highlandlakescaninerescue.org/adopt-a-dog/how-to-adopt/
