Story
Meet SASHA! She: • Is a female great pyrenees mix • Is 5.5 months old • Weighs 52 pounds and could range from 90 to 100 full grown • Is good with other dogs • Appears to be good with cats • Is great with children • Is crate trained • Walks well in a harness • Is not potty trained • Rides well in the car • Is high energy About: Sasha has the sort of eyes that peer deeply into your soul! She effortlessly forms connections with new people and is very loving. Though she is playful with familiar dogs, Sasha can be shy or apprehensive when first meeting new four-legged friends. She is still learning her indoor manners, but is intelligent and eager to learn. With energy to spare, she will thrive alongside a large playmate who can not only match her energy level, but will continue to teach her proper dog-to-dog interactions. Sasha has the guardian instincts of a pyrenees, and will steadfastly watch over her family through all of life's challenges! Sasha is vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative. For more information about Sasha or our shelter please call us at (830) 693-0569 or visit our website at highlandlakescaninerescue.org If you would like to schedule a meet and greet with Sasha or any of our dogs, please fill out an application at https://www.highlandlakescaninerescue.org/adopt-a-dog/how-to-adopt/

Story
Meet MIKASA! She: • Is a great pyrenees mix • Is 5.5 months old • Is good with other dogs • Appears to be good with cats • Weighs 47 pounds and could range from 90 to 100 full grown • Walks well in a harness • Is not potty trained • Is high energy About: Mikasa is a big girl who wants to be your lap dog, though she may not fit there for much longer! She’s a lover with a gentle streak, however she is still overflowing with puppy rambunctiousness. Mikasa is interested in accompanying you through the house, watching your every move just to see what you're up to. She can hang out independently, but Mikasa would thrive under the watch of a bigger, older dog to show her the ropes of the house and to play with her. We see her blossoming under the typical household environment with a nicely sized yard and daily walks as an outlet. Priming to be a family dog, all she needs is someone to love that will say “mi casa su casa!” Mikasa is vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative. For more information about Mikasa or our shelter please call us at (830) 693-0569 or visit our website at highlandlakescaninerescue.org If you would like to schedule a meet and greet with Mikasa or any of our dogs, please fill out an application at https://www.highlandlakescaninerescue.org/adopt-a-dog/how-to-adopt/

Story
Goose is a good dog. He has some behavior issues that are not suitable for smaller homes and should be working on a farm protecting livestock. He’s great with kids but prefers not to live with other dogs. He’s only had one owner his whole life and needs someone who can give him the one on one attention he deserves. He’s completely house trained, and highly food motivated. He gets aggressive about his food bowl with our other dog of 13 years and continues to display severe resource guarding behavior even when separated for feeding times. I cannot stress this enough, he’s a good dog.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  Meet Miles! Miles is a ten-month-old pup who was rescued from the streets with his sister. He roamed near a highway the first four months of his life. Miles is about 70 pounds and packing on the weight now that he is being fed regularly. He has double dews. Miles gets along with everyone, cats included. His crate is his safe space, and he eats and sleeps well and with no issues. Sometimes he goes to his crate to decompress when the house gets a little loud. He loves to jump on the trampoline He uses a chair to climb up and jump with the kids. He is good with kids. He does counter surf but has gotten much better and "down" is all it takes to remind him of his manners. He would love to be someone's snuggle buddy. He would be okay even with someone elderly- he is very chill. Miles is currently in Texas but can be on the next transport! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Misty!  Misty is one of Sunshine’s litter from the large PNW rescue over the summer.  She is a precious and sweet girl who loves to play but can also settle to be chill.  She has a lot of personality and the leader of her litter pack.  She loves attention!  For those of you who don’t know, Misty was bottle fed by her foster with the rest of her siblings when her mom Sunshine got sick and needed surgery.  When the foster took this litter they were only one week old!  Misty is food motivated and will learn from a family using positive reinforcement.  She  is still a puppy so will need help with puppy needs such as walking on a leash, potty training, crate training, and socialization.  Misty needs a med-large adult playful dog in the home for mentorship.  She has so much love to give a family who will provide her with the same, is that you? OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION: 1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES THAT HAVE AT LEAST ONE MEDIUM TO LARGE YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL RESIDENT DOG that is age 1 or older. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor. 2) These puppies can be livestock dogs to farms and homesteads experienced in training LGDs. They also must be family pets that are allowed inside the home. 3) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone must also be home at least part of the day. Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8+ hours a day. 4) We give preference to applicants with prior Great Pyrenees knowledge/experience. 5) Secure and visible fencing required. 6) You must have a plan in place to socialize your puppy properly. Adoption Fee: $375 All of our puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on age appropriate vaccinations.  We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 6. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  Meet KHLOE!  Khloe is a beautiful gal who is a little over two years old and weighs 88 lbs!  She is super friendly and loves people!  She gets along with other easy-going dogs but does not get along with cats. Khloe does have young dog energy and would do well with an active family.  She is working on her manners, she does like to greet humans with a hug, so small children might not be the best fit.  Khloe just gets so excited to see everyone! Khloe enjoys walks and is doing well with leash training. Khloe is currently being in Texas but can be on the next NW transport.   All our dogs require secure VISIBLE fencing. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Birch!  Birch came into rescue with Cedar when their mom died tragically in a freak accident.  Their mom was well known in the small community of Shelton, WA and the residents rallied around to get the dogs somewhere safe to stay after her passing.  Birch is a 17 month old Pyrenees-Border Collie mix and still full of puppy!  He will likely have the energetic traits of a Border Collie so will need to be kept active and mentally stimulated so he doesn't get in trouble. He loves attention and it's difficult for people not to love on him when he jumps up and puts his arms around you.  So he'll need some help with not jumping up.  We are just getting to know this sweet boy so we will update his bio when we know more.  He is good with other dogs and has not been observed with cats or livestock.  Birch is being fostered in Shelton, WA. All our dogs require secure VISIBLE fencing. All current pets in adoptive home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations.  We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 6.  Adoption Fee: $225 All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Transport Fee: $350 Transport fee includes the cost of transport plus the Health Certificate required for USDA approved transport. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Cabo is a 5-year-old male Pyrenees mix weighing around 98lbs.  Cabo was dumped at the shelter by his owner, injured and in rough shape. We believe Cabo is hearing impaired. He was left at the shelter to die and thank goodness rescue came to his aid and saved his life.  He has done well in his fosters home.  He is not destructive inside or outside of the home and is not a digger. He is house trained, and crate trained. He does patrol the yard and will bark at strangers.  Due to the trauma he suffered with his previous owner and being hearing impaired, he will need to be an only dog in his home and doggie parks are not a good idea for sweet Cabo. Cats are unknown but doubtful. Cabo is very sweet to people males, females, and children that know how to behave with dogs.  He is not to be ridden like a horse, pulled on, or stepped on; he needs to be respected since he is hearing impaired.  He can be startled easily.  Once he trusts you, he does wonderful!  He likes all kinds of goodies, treats, food of all sorts.  His ideal home would be that he is the only dog.  He could be with a family if the kids are sweet and gentle, a couple, or a single person.  He is not much of a hiker or runner but walks would be sufficient.  Must have an intact fenced yard as he will roam if no fence or holes in your fence.  He is not off leash trained.  He is trained for sit, come, heel for leash walking, off for not jumping on his humans, and “nice” or “gentle” for taking treats.  He sleeps in his crate at night and is not anxious with car rides. He is such a super great dog and has come so far; he needs his forever home for this big guy that is very loving to his humans.  Could that be you???? Cabo is currently being fostered in the DFW area but can be on the next PNW transport.    All our dogs require secure VISIBLE fencing. All current pets in adoptive home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations.  We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 6.  Adoption Fee: $275 All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.
