Story
Come meet me and 75+ of my adoptable friends at Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue's Super Adoption Event, Furever Yours! Sunday, February 15th, 2026 at Paradise Island in Staten Island from 11am - 3pm!
Meet Nicholas!
Nicholas is a 2-year-old, 13-pound purebred Havanese with a soft, cuddly coat to go with his soft, cuddly personality.
Nicholas is a very bright boy who quickly learned his sit command and loves playing fetch with a ball or squeaky barbell. He still has a lot of puppy joy in him to share with a new family whom he will want to be with all the time. He is housetrained and obediently goes outside while getting in lots of exploration at the same time. He loves new places and new people.
Nicholas enjoys playing with his dog siblings and leaping for joy in the yard and in the snow. He is great with children. He responds with a bark to beeping sounds but otherwise is not especially vocal. Nicholas cannot be alone for long periods and will need to transition to not being with his people every minute. He just has so much love to share that he wants to give it all! Daily brushing is a must for this perfect powder soft coat and budgeting for grooming should be considered. If you have forgotten to be joyful every moment, Nicholas will remind you how good it is to smile and be happy.
Nicholas is being fostered in Scotch Plains, NJ and his adoption fee is $600.
Nicholas is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well.

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
