Story
Dixie is a 3-year-old gentle giant with a huge heart, a big goofy smile, and A LOT of love and snuggles to give! She’s a beautiful Lab/Husky mix who has decided that at the ripe old age of three, she has officially earned an early retirement.
And honestly? She makes a pretty compelling case.
Dixie is fully house-trained and knows her basic commands, including “sit” and “crate.” She loves car rides, walks, playing fetch, and — perhaps most importantly — chilling by the couch with her person.
Dixie would absolutely love to find a person or couple who is looking for a best friend and a companion for all of life’s good stuff. Want to go for a long walk? Dixie’s in!
Want to hop in the car and go somewhere? Dixie’s in!
Want to play fetch? Dixie’s REALLY in!
Want to curl up on the couch and binge Netflix for the rest of the evening? Now you’re speaking her language.
Dixie is very social and adaptable. She goes to doggy daycare and does well with both people and dogs at the rescue. She’s certainly not anti-social — she just happens to have a preference for a quieter, more relaxed lifestyle.Dixie can live with other dogs, but she would also be perfectly happy being an only dog. And honestly, she’d probably enjoy being the center of attention. She’s ready to be someone’s one-and-only best girl!
Basically, Dixie would like to retire early — not because she doesn’t like people or other animals, but because she has decided she’s done with the hustle and bustle. She’d much rather spend her days taking a nice walk or playing a good game of fetch, then stretching out on the front porch and watching the sunset with her favorite person.
She’d like to watch Netflix without having to worry about bedtimes and bath times interrupting her episode. She’s totally happy to go out, socialize, visit, and have fun — she just doesn’t need the party going 24/7.
Dixie is looking for a home where she can relax, be loved, and enjoy her well-earned early retirement. She has so much love to give and would make an incredible companion for someone who wants a loyal best friend by their side.
Dixie is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, fully house-trained, and — naturally — expects a treat after demonstrating all of her excellent manners. So, knowing that Dixie is a girl who has very specific ideas about her retirement lifestyle… could you be the person she’s been waiting for?
