Story
Introducing Colt, the wise and wonderful husky who's ready to embark on his golden years in style! At 10 years young, Colt may be a senior boy, but he's still got plenty of pep in his step and love in his heart.Colt is a friendly fellow who gets along great with cats - they're like his little buddies! But when it comes to other dogs, he prefers to be the only pooch in the house. He's happiest when he's the center of attention! This sweet boy is looking for a home with adults who can give him all the love and cuddles he deserves. He may not be as spry as he used to be, but he still enjoys leisurely walks and snuggling up for a cozy nap.If you're searching for a loyal and loving companion to share your life with, Colt is the husky for you!

Story
Meet Pepper! This adorable Alaskan Klee Kai pup found his way to HSHC in March of 2024, trotting in as a brave stray ready to embark on his next adventure. It was evident that Pepper hadn't had much experience with leash walking and socialization in his past, but he's already accomplished SO much thanks to his incredible foster family. We've learned that while Pepper may be a bit shy at first, he's a quick learner and is eager to please. So, let's talk logistics. Housebreaking? He's getting there. Socialization? It's all about baby steps and belly rubs. Leash manners? Well, let's just say Pepper's got some fancy footwork to learn, but with a little patience and a lot of treats, he'll be strutting his stuff in no time! Speaking of fancy footwork... Pepper's got a bit of a Houdini streak in him, so we're asking for a 6-foot privacy fence to keep him safe and sound while he explores his new digs. In your adoption packet, you'll find all the goodies you need to help Pepper become the best version of himself. From training tips to daycare options, we've got you covered every step of the way and we're always here to help! For families considering adoption, it's important to note that Pepper would do best in a home with children aged 13 and up. Potential adopters are encouraged to bring their dogs for a meet and greet here at the shelter. After all, Pepper is a social butterfly who loves making new friends! With his lovable personality and endless potential, Pepper is sure to make a wonderful addition to your family. If you're ready to open your heart and home to this sweet pup, just click the link that says, "Interested in this animal? Click here!" The adventure begins with Pepper - are you ready to join him?

Story
If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please visit our website, for details about our fees and process, and to complete our Adoption Application.   ARPO limits adoptions to within 50 miles of Indianapolis.  We do not have a shelter; all pets are in volunteer foster homes.  Cooper is the true definition of a derpy puppy! While he will definitely need someone that understands and is willing to work through the anxiety that comes from being pulled from a shelter/unfortunate start, I truly feel he will thrive in a home with patience that shows him that he is loved. I have gotten to know him over the last few weeks as his foster momma, and he truly is a friendly puppy that just wants to slobber on and kiss everyone he meets. He has shown an extreme interest in playing with other dogs (especially those that will rough house back with him), does very well with cats (he is currently living with 3), and he has met a variety of new people on the day-to-day showing only tail wags and butt wiggles. He is very food and toy motivated, and he came to me with pretty impressive leash manners/command knowledge. He will sit on command, and he tends to stay by your side on walks. I am glad that this young boy is being given the chance at a second start, and I look forward to helping with the integration of him into your home. Cooper has been neutered, microchipped, is up to date on vaccines, and HW negative. His estimated birthday is 10-2-23.If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please complete the online Adoption Application.  If you would like to donate to this pet's care, please click here.
