Story
Introducing Colt, the wise and wonderful husky who's ready to embark on his golden years in style! At 10 years young, Colt may be a senior boy, but he's still got plenty of pep in his step and love in his heart.Colt is a friendly fellow who gets along great with cats - they're like his little buddies! But when it comes to other dogs, he prefers to be the only pooch in the house. He's happiest when he's the center of attention! This sweet boy is looking for a home with adults who can give him all the love and cuddles he deserves. He may not be as spry as he used to be, but he still enjoys leisurely walks and snuggling up for a cozy nap.If you're searching for a loyal and loving companion to share your life with, Colt is the husky for you!

Story
If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please visit our website, for details about our fees and process, and to complete our Adoption Application.   ARPO limits adoptions to within 50 miles of Indianapolis.  We do not have a shelter; all pets are in volunteer foster homes.  Cooper is the true definition of a derpy puppy! While he will definitely need someone that understands and is willing to work through the anxiety that comes from being pulled from a shelter/unfortunate start, I truly feel he will thrive in a home with patience that shows him that he is loved. I have gotten to know him over the last few weeks as his foster momma, and he truly is a friendly puppy that just wants to slobber on and kiss everyone he meets. He has shown an extreme interest in playing with other dogs (especially those that will rough house back with him), does very well with cats (he is currently living with 3), and he has met a variety of new people on the day-to-day showing only tail wags and butt wiggles. He is very food and toy motivated, and he came to me with pretty impressive leash manners/command knowledge. He will sit on command, and he tends to stay by your side on walks. I am glad that this young boy is being given the chance at a second start, and I look forward to helping with the integration of him into your home. Cooper has been neutered, microchipped, is up to date on vaccines, and HW negative. His estimated birthday is 9-15-23.If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please complete the online Adoption Application.  If you would like to donate to this pet's care, please click here. Story
This is my baby Draco. It hurts to have to post this but I do. I am finally moving out of a bust down one bedroom apartment, and they will only let me take one of my dogs and I have to say she’s a service dog . My mom first adopted Draco when I was 15. She left him with her ex friend for around a year a half about 2 years after we had him. He was neglected and abused. He ended back up at the shelter and I was able to claim him. My original intent was to rehome him but I held on to him. But now that I can only take one dog I have to. He is a funny quirky loveable boy. He has bronchitis from allergies and needs to be given Benadryl twice a day to help him. I just recently took him to the vet where they told me this. He coughs, hacks, and wheezes but hopefully this will get better once he is on the Benadryl for a little bit. I would also please ask you take him to your vet and see what they recommend. Before adopting I will want to do a home visit and introductions between any other anim

Story
Meet Balto! This senior fellow came to Helping Paws from the shelter with a bum back leg. We had him checked out by our vets and it was discovered that he has old ligament damage to that knee. That doesn't slow him down, though! Now that he has pain meds to be given as needed, he is a happy boy! He does well with other dogs and ignores the cats in his foster home. He is all Husky for sure, so people with breed experience would be preferred, but not required. He hasn't been around a lot of kids, but he is friendly with people. We suggest older children because he does occasionally take treats pretty roughly and we wouldn't want little fingers to be bitten. He is house trained and crate trained! He loves to curl up on the couch and nap, like any older gentleman would :) Balto's adoption fee is $200 and with that he comes neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He's also been on heartworm and flea prevention. Interested in meeting him? Visit www.helpingpawsonline.com/adoption-application

Story
Meet Aristotle! This guy came to us after being turned into the shelter as a stray. He had been staying in a wooded area with another dog for months and was tough to catch, but a local group that specializes in cases like this was able to get him into safety and now he is in a foster home that is continuing to work on him becoming a more confident guy! Aristotle is approximately 3 years old and weighs a little under 50 lbs. Obviously he age and breeds are guesses since he was a stray, but he definitely has the husky tendency to be an escape artist - LOL. He can scale a 6 foot fence, so he will need to be leashed or watched closely at all times when outside. He is very timid with new people and so an adopter would need to be committed to continuing working with him on socializing. He absolutely LOVES other dogs and so if you are looking for a companion for your dog, he is your guy! He also has done well with the cats in his foster home. We would suggest no children just because of timid nature and the fact children move fast and that easily startles him. He is currently working on his housetraining and crate training and is doing well to acclimating to life in the house :) Aristotle's adoption fee is $250 and he will come fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He is also heartworm negative and currently on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. If you are interested in meeting him, please visit www.helpingpawsonline.com/adoption-application

Story
Eric or Price Eric as he likes to be called was found wandering around looking for his castle. He is a very relaxed Husky who loves to be with people and snuggle on the couch. He is a very curious dog who prefers to be with people, and is extremely athletic so he would need a 6ft fenced in yard. Eric has met other dogs very well and seems to be pretty social and comfortable around other dogs. He would love to be Fostered or adopted by you. We are looking for someone with Husky experience for Prince Eric. *Adopters must live in Central Indiana, no more than 45 min from downtown Indy *Please visit website for how to adopt: https://sketchymuttsandunderdogs.org/adopt *Please note that we do not operate on a first come first served basis.

Story
Gorgeous boy, Blaze, was groomed today and he is now ready for adoption!! Blaze was found as a stray in Speedway with significant matting in his coat. Blaze lives with other dogs and gets along with them very well. He has no food, toy, or water aggression. He is approximately 3 years old and 50 lbs and is crate and potty trained. He would do best in a home without small dogs or cats, as our foster says he is overly interested in them. He has met and done well with children as well. Blaze also walks well on leash. He does dig, but has not tried to dig under or jump over the fence. Blaze is vaccinated, heartworm negative, on heartworm prevention, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $300.

Story
Meet Canelo, a very special guy with a heart as big as they come. In fact, his heart was so inviting that it attracted some unwelcome guests - heartworms! Canelo received treatment and is now heartworm-free, ready to embark on a new chapter of his life. He was brought to HSHC as a stray, but he's eager to leave his past behind and find a loving family to share his dreams with.Canelo, a handsome Chow Chow Mix, believes he falls into the working breed category. This makes sense because he loves learning new tricks and deriving joy from making his humans happy. If you happen to have other dogs at home, Canelo would love the opportunity to make their acquaintance - he's known for making a fantastic first impression. During his showings, he also met some children and absolutely adored them! The only thing Canelo requests for his new home is a cat-free zone. If you're in search of a hardworking, snuggly companion, Canelo is the man for you!
