Story
Kyle is a special guy and our longest term canine resident. Every so often, we get a dog that just doesn't quite conform to the typical canine ways. Perhaps they would prefer to be cats, or don't really know how to speak dog. Maybe they are introverts and wish they weren't expected to be quite so social all the time. Whatever the case may be, Kyle is one of those pooches. He can be somewhat feline in the way he behaves; he would like to be petted on his terms, and he would like to do his own thing in the yard, and he has his favorites when it comes to people. However, Kyle also has many wonderful qualities. He is incredibly affectionate with his people, wanting to give kisses and sit in their laps. He makes some very funny noises, often sounding like the grouchy old man he is on the inside. He is housetrained and always potties right away when he goes outside. He is quite smart and quick to offer a paw in exchange for a treat. Except...it better be the kind he likes, or he'll spit it out. He is doing his best to learn about How to Be a Dog and is currently in a foster home with another male dog. He's not terribly playful, though he'll trot around now and then or paw to say hello. Kyle would be best in a home without cats or children. If interested in Kyle, please email our Outreach and Behavior Coordinator Emily Herr at herre@bloomington.in.gov

Elsie is a Courtesy Listing and is not housed at the Animal Shelter. Please note that the City of Bloomington Animal Care & Control accepts no responsibility for this pet. Potential adopters are responsible for communicating directly with the pet's guardian. We have a very large yard, but she needs more space to run or an electric fence because she is very good at escaping if able. Loves kids of all ages, lives with 3 other dogs and 4 cats and they all get along wonderfully. Walks pretty well on a leash. She’s soft and fluffy and loves to cuddle. Very goofy and talkative. Needs work on house training or the ability to be outside more often.I rescued her 7 months ago and she was beaten and starved. She’s healthy and happy, but does get easily spooked still. She really is a great dog and I hate that I’m not the home she needs. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Ashley (ha.evans@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet. Online Adoption Application › Tripp is a handsome young adult male husky.  He's quite full of himself and LOVES to show off his husky voice.  He's very treat motivated & too smart for his own good sometimes.  He's dog friendly but does have a more dominant / confident demeanor.  Tripp does not see the need to befriend cats.  His prey drive gets the best of him so he's seeking a home with no cats.  Tripp is crate trained & medically up to date.  He's truly a goofball. He loves to run & play - whether that be with himself, with toys or with his furry foster siblings.  He is still working on mastering his manners & can sometimes struggle with meeting stragners politely.  Someone with breed experience would be best suited for Tripp.  Anyone interested in Tripp can apply at https://care.rescuegroups.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 6, 2024, 8:57 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Ashley (ha.evans@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet. Online Adoption Application › Bolt is a handsome, energetic, and super sweet boy! DEFINITELY one of the cleanest dogs you will ever meet! Bolt loves everyone he meets and he loves attention. He does well with more submissive dogs. Proper introductuons are a MUST! Sadly cats are no friend of his. He will require  a cat free home. He really wants to be their friend, but doesn't  understand  he can't  play rough like with another dog. Bolt knows basic commands such as ‘sit’ and ‘crate/room’. He is eager to learn and treat motivated. He is super sweet and super smart. He is crate/house trained (currently he has his own bedroom at his foster home and has been a true gentleman). Bolt is a full grown guy and is the SMALLEST husky we have ever seen. He is agile and does the cutest twirl/dance when he is happy and wants attention. He walks well on leash and harness. He will require at least a 5 foot fence b/c he can jump and does have a bit of prey drive (squirrels, etc. drive him nuts). He likes to go outside and run for a bit…potty and then back inside with his family.  If you have any questions please contact his foster mom Jodie. **Contact the email above. All emails and applications  are being forwarded  to Jodie.**Bolt is up to date on  vaccines, microchipped, on monthly  preventatives and neutered.Visit  care.rescuegroups.org for his profile and application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 6, 2024, 8:57 pm

Story
Max is a Courtesy Listing and is not housed at the Animal Shelter. Please note that the City of Bloomington Animal Care & Control accepts no responsibility for this pet. Potential adopters are responsible for communicating directly with the pet's guardian. Our Max, 8 year old male Alaskan Malamute is getting increasingly more anxious as he ages. He has begun marking his territory in the house constantly, and he is absolutely petrified of storms. We have 5 huskies, 3 male, 2 female and we think Max really needs to be an only pet for the remainder of his days. He is healthy, loving, loyal, thinks he is a lap dog. Would be great for someone needing a companion as he always want to be sitting or laying at your side. We rescued him from a puppy mill about 2 years ago where he was left outside in a stall/kennel for most of his life. This is why we thing he is terrified of storms. He shakes and needs to be comforted for a good 30 minutes before a storm even arrives. Currently he is an indoor dog with full access doggie door to the outside fenced yard 24/7. He HATES to be left alone and locked out in the yard. It is the only time he will bark. As he ages and gets more nervous he marks anytime a male dog is near him. We have tried EVERYTHING to make it stop but it hasn’t. He may need anxiety chews or something but I feel terrible that he is constantly feeling that anxiousness. We have 5 kids and I run an in home daycare. He is good with kids and animals of all ages. As he ages he doesn’t love to be crawled on or picked at by the toddlers so much so he will give them a little verbal back off but he has never nipped at or bitten anyone. He is neutered and up to date on his rabies vac. He is just such a sweet boy and we don’t know what to do with him. We want him to be happy in a less stressful environment. If you are interested in Max email Thejourneybloomington@gmail.com or text 812 671 2013. ***Please ignore the Apply to Adopt button for this pet & contact the owner directly***

Story
Tank is the cutest little dude we know! From his silky fur to his silly purple tongue, he is not your average looking pup. He loves to do zoomies in the yard and then come back inside for snuggles. And let us tell you...he is a PRO cuddler! Tank will wiggle and squish himself right into your lap, belly up, and give you the most offended eyes if you dare to stop petting him. Sometimes, he will sneakily tear a piece off of his toy and then hide the evidence. He's innocent of all toy destruction accusations! Tank does have some allergies and with the right diet and allergy medications, we got Tank's itchies under control. We would be happy to go over this with interested adopters. Tank would prefer to be the only dog in the home.
