You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please note that we can not guarantee the age, expected weight or breed of any animal. What we provide is our best estimates based on our experience and the information provided by the our medical partners. If breed and eventual size are of great importance we suggest looking into a breed specific rescue or adopting a full grown animal. Unless otherwise noted, ALL animals are fostered and available for adoption on Long Island, NY.  Salvador is truly one-of-a-kind, a dog with a unique and captivating appearance that is sure to steal your heart. Sporting one brown eye and one blue eye, Salvador's eyes are simply mesmerizing, and his sleek white coat accentuates this striking contrast beautifully. While we can't pinpoint his exact breed mix, there's a hint of boxer in him, giving him a strong and athletic build. But it's not just his looks that make Salvador special; he's also a bundle of joy and a total goofball. He's got that endearing lanky charm and a penchant for galloping around the play yards with infectious enthusiasm. Salvador has a favorite staff member whom he adores playing with, and they've even taught him a few tricks that he's eager to showcase. Salvador is the perfect companion for someone seeking a big, lovable goofball to share their life with. He's full of energy, love, and a playful spirit that's truly infectious. However, it's worth noting that Salvador can be a bit shy around strangers. He's looking for someone patient and willing to spend some quality time getting to know him at St. Francis Farm (SFF). Your support and interest in Salvador could make a world of difference in his life. So, if you're ready to open your heart and home to this unique and charming dog, please consider reaching out to us at SFF to arrange a meeting with Sal, as he's affectionately known. Tifo and Ghost Bonded Pair Foster/Home Needed – Long Island, NY Meet Tifo and Ghost. These best buddies are in need of a new home because sadly their owner, who loved them very much, recently passed away and the family can no longer care for them. Tifo is a 10yr old male Border Collie mix, weighing about 65lbs. His recently deceased owner took him in 8 years ago when the previous owner died. Sadly, the pair were homeless and lived in the owner’s car. They were not treated kindly by the neighbors and it’s left Tifo a bit skittish, but he's determined to bond with whoever will be caring for him. Understandably, he does not like cars. Tifo is fine with other dogs but he is more of a loner, preferring human company, or hanging out with his best buddy Ghost. Ghost is a 4-5yr old male Huskie-Malamute mix, weighing about 100lbs, who loves everyone he meets! His owner adopted him 2-3yrs ago from someone she knew. He is a friendly and sociable dog who gets along well with both animals and people. Ghost is just a big ole fluffy mush! Both dogs are neutered and updated shots. Chance URGENT Foster/Home Needed Meet Chance! This sweet boy is an 8yr old Siberian Husky, weighing about 50lbs. He is crate trained and housebroken. Chance is very well-behaved and loves to learn. He gets along well with other dogs and peacefully tolerates cats. He was born with Premature Bilateral Cataracts Disease. It’s a progressive condition that has left Chance with limited sight. He mostly sees shadows but acclimates well in most if not all surroundings. A fenced yard is very important as he loves to play and run around. Due to his sight limitations, children under 13yrs are not advised. Chance is otherwise healthy, neutered and fully UTD on all. If you have the heart and the home to be the second chance for sweet Chance, please contact adoptions@paws-li.org or go to our FB page or call the number listed below. Story
9 Year Old Brick recently lost the only home he ever knew. His owners had him since he was a puppy where he had a wonderful life. However, once Brick's family had a child of their own, his life changed. They did not set him up for success or properly prepare him for a new baby in the home so shortly thereafter Brick was confined to the kitchen for 2 years of his life. That meant no more long walks, no more family outings, no more snuggling on the couch. To make matters worse, Brick was also never neutered as the family was considering breeding him which also didn't help the situation. On two separate occasions poor Brick was attached at the local dog park. As a result of this it caused him to become dog selective and needing to be an only dog. We are going to make sure Brick gets neutered and will also have a Senior Blood Panel done to ensure he is healthy and up to date with everything. Two weeks ago, the family had a bunch of people over and amongst the chaos Brick bit their daughter who thankfully was fine but as a result the family opted to discard poor Brick. He stayed at their vets office for a few weeks in boarding while the family found him a temporary foster. She has been taking amazing care of Brick but unfortunately she cannot keep him permanently as she has a cat who he doesn't want to share his space with. She reached out to our rescue for help and we weren't going to turn her away. We have physically met Brick who is the sweetest boy and you would never believe he was 9 years old. He absolutely loves his humans and would enjoy the companionship of someone that is able to give it to him. As we took him on a walk, other than whine he did not seem all that phased by other dogs walking by. But considering all this poor baby has been through we still recommend him to be the only dog and pet. The ideal home would be with an adult or adults only with preferable husky experience. He currently has a bit of anxiety but that is to be expected from all he has been through. With the proper love and stability this boy will thrive once in his forever home. Brick is currently located on Long Island, NY Available in NY/NJ/CT/PA

Story
Larz is around a 6 years old, male Siberian Husky and came into the shelter as a stray wearing a make shift harness that our medical team had to cut off because it was so tightly wrapped around him. During his routine check-up and upon his intake, medical staff realized he has an old injury to his left eye, which is non-functional, but this doesn't stop this guy from getting around! He came in shedding his coat, and slightly matted but our staff quickly brushed him out and as he's still shedding his winter coat, they got a lot of that matting out and he is feeling much better. Larz did growl during his food test, and tends to guard his toys, so he would do best with a savvy owner who has experience with guarding. He did well with his play test with a low-key, polite, female canine friend, but can try to mount sometimes. Due to his guarding he would do best in a solo dog only home, with kids ages 16+.If you would like to know more, contact our placement team at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:E: Adoption@hempsteadny.govE: Rescue@hempsteadny.govE: Foster@hempsteadny.govT. 516.785.5220#Adoptme #takemehome #upforadoption #longislandanimalshelter #shelterdogs #siberianhusky #huskydog #husky #huskiesofIG #dogsofinstagram #dogsoffacebook #dogsupforadoption #dogoftheday #woof #nycdogs #availableforadoption #animalshelters #rescue #rescuedogsarethebest #rescued #rescueismyfavoritebreed
