Alakai is a beautiful boy seeking a family to help him gain some confidence in this big world! When Alakai came to us, he was terrified of everything. Leashes, other dogs, any sound you could think of it was all too much for him. We are very slowly making progress, but he is going to take a lot of time to come around and learn how to be a normal dog. He will need some help learning his basic commands and manners. Continued reward-based training would benefit him greatly. He will need a patient and loving family who will go slowly with him and allow him to do things at his own pace. With any fearful dog, we believe he shouldn't be left unsupervised while going outside to potty as he could be a flight risk. We are hoping that once he gets away from the stress of the shelter, he will be a completely different dog. If you have other animals in your home, we recommend bringing them in to do a meet and greet before taking Alakai home. Hutch has been very well loved and his owner only had to surrender him due to circumstances beyond her control. He is such a sweet boy who loves people, including kids. His previous neighbor had many children that he played with often. He also gets along with other dogs but has not been cat tested. Hutch is a free spirit. He likes to play outside, digs (possibly from boredom) and buries toys sometimes. At night, he has always had free reign of the house and would bark once to let his owner know if he needed to go potty. Hutch is not a fan of crates. He is used to spending a lot of time outdoors. He was kept on a long leash, but if he will be in a fenced yard it would need to be tall, or he would scale it or try to dig underneath . Hutch needs plenty of space, so apartments would not be suitable for him. He needs lots of walking and exercise. This handsome boy has recently entered our DASH Prison Training Program where he is brushing up on basic commands and doing well. His handler says he is a great dog, loves how calm and relaxed he is. He says Hutch loves belly rubs, his walks and playing with the other dogs. I have a feeling he won't be with us long so Apply today if you want to meet him!! This little baby has just entered our DASH Prison Training Program (We also have her sisters Bluey and Muffin) where she will be learning her puppy manners and basic commands so she can be at her best at all times in her new home. She will be working on things like sit, stay, down & wait as well as being leash trained, housetrained and how to be content in her crate. She loves people so much that she cries & barks when in her crate but she is just learning it's not forever. Of course she will need further guidance / patience from her new family to get it perfect and learn the rules. She is doing well with leash walking and housetraining is an ongoing process.  Bingo loves playing with the other dogs and people.  She is a very affectionate girl and loves nothing more than to snuggle up or  play  with her toys but through it all she LOVES being the center of attention .   She's not yet been kid or cat tested so proper introductions are a must.
