RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.

Story
Looking for a new home for my 5year old best friend husky named Maya. I cared for her to my best of ability and gave her all the love I could, as she comes from a very traumatized past. When she was given to me she was was not looking well and still show scars from her past. Her previous owener was a guy who had drinking problems and abused of her. It was very hard for her to get used to my father, brother, or any male that came in contact with her but now loves them very much. At first she is very shy but has gotten better at meeting new people and not being so scared. She is very owner attached and is defensive over master. Very playful and will want to be around owner 24/7. Overall an amazing best friend who would always bring me up when I wasnt feeling my best. Which is why its so hard for me to let her go but taking care of her has becomed overwhelming for me as I am expecting and soon to have a baby. looking for person to be able to give her the attention, I no longer can.

Root BeerMaleAge: 9-10 MonthsWeight: 55 lbs.Breed: Husky Mix                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Hey there, I’m Root Beer, but I go by Eli. I am an energetic, yet quiet fellow who gets along with other dogs and cats. I haven’t had much interaction with kids, but my foster family thinks I would do well with older kids. I still have some puppy energy and will need an active family to make sure I get the exercise and mental stimulation I need to thrive and continue improving my skills. I love treat puzzles and frozen lick mats to keep my young mind occupied! I am house trained, crate trained and know basic commands. I am a very good boy in my crate and barely make a peep! I have much improved on a leash although I still pull a little (the smells on walks are just so exciting!) but my foster family expects I will perfect my leash manners in no time. A little more about me: I would do best in a home with a fenced yard or playmate/fur sibling to keep up with my energy. Bones and antlers are my favorite chew toys – anything I can chew on for long periods of time. I LOVE to give kisses and hugs and follow you around everywhere you go! I am a social butterfly and love meeting new people and dogs! I have recently learned I LOVE the dog park and am always one of the best behaved boys there. I also love to play with a frisbee and am so close to being a frisbee dog where I can catch it mid air! I am so excited to have some fun adventures with my new family who will provide me all the love and attention I deserve! If you are interested in meeting Root Beer, apply to adopt him at www.causeforcanines.org. Adoption fee: $325 Must be an Ohio resident & 23 or older. Children must be 8 or older. ##1425209##
