Story
Meet Eddie! This energetic lad is all about playtime, cuddles, and naps (in that order) - there is not a moment where this husky isn't thinking about showing off his acrobatic skills. Though his brain may work on low internet speeds, he is certainly very attentive when it comes to treats. If you want a best friend who will keep you active on your toes, Eddie is for you! Kids: With how energetic Eddie is, we recommend children 12+ to handle his strength. Dogs: We are unsure how Eddie is with other canines, we advise patience and caution during any introductions. Cats: With Eddie's prey drive, we strongly advise no cats or other small critters.  Some of Eddie’s favorite things: peanut butter, playing fetch, running around, singing you his favorite songs Eddie is Neutered, Microchipped, and fully up to date on age appropriated vaccines! Story
Luna was surrendered to the shelter with her brother, Loki, and while losing your home is never easy, this girl is choosing to cope the only way she knows how: by being an absolute pop princess.Luna loves other dogs, thrives on playtime, and treats the outdoors like it’s her personal stage. Sunshine? Yes. Grass? Yes. Running around like she’s late to the chorus? Absolutely. Her missing leg does not slow her down—if anything, it adds to her main-character energy. And the voice. Oh, the voice. Luna doesn’t just bark—she sings. She howls. She performs. She hits notes you didn’t ask for but will absolutely grow to love. It’s giving tour dates. It’s giving encore.Playful, outgoing, and full of joy, Luna is the kind of dog who turns everyday moments into something fun. She’d do great in a home with another dog, a yard to explore, and people who appreciate a little drama, a lot of personality, and a girl who knows she’s special.More information? Story
Loki came to the shelter alongside his sister Luna, and just like her, he’s handling big changes with joy, playfulness, and a whole lot of personality. He’s a total dog’s-dog—loves other pups, thrives on playtime, and is happiest when he’s got a buddy to romp around with (bonus points if it’s his sister).Loki is high-energy in the best way: playful, silly, and always ready to turn a yard, park, or living room into his personal playground. He adores being outside, where he can zoom, sniff, and soak up the world like it’s brand new every time. And yes—he sings too. Not quite the headliner like Luna, but absolutely part of the band, chiming in with enthusiastic howls when the mood strikes. He’s the kind of dog who makes life brighter just by being in it—happy, social, and endlessly fun. Loki would do wonderfully in a home with another dog, an active family, and people who appreciate a little chaos mixed with a lot of love.More information? Story
Meet Bo 🐾❄️Bo is a 4-year-old snowball of energy wrapped in a stunning white husky coat. He’s basically a fluffy missile of fun, ready to zoom through your life at full speed—but in the best way possible.Bo loves kids (bonus points if they throw balls) and other dogs (especially ones who can keep up with his sled-dog-level enthusiasm). Cats? Not so much—he treats them like tiny, unpredictable ninjas, so he’ll need a home without our feline friends. This goofy guy enjoys zoomies, dramatic howls at the moon, and convincing humans that belly rubs are mandatory life experiences. Bo is looking for a forever family who can keep up with his energy, laugh at his antics, and maybe even join him in a spontaneous snow roll or two. ❄️😆Bo is more than a dog—he’s a four-legged comedy show waiting to move in.More information? Story
Meet PAWSLEY!! ⚡🐾😄 HIHELLOHI! I’m Pawsley and I am coming to you LIVE with approximately 12 cups of coffee in my system (don’t ask how, just accept it). I came in as a stray on 12/17/25 and I’m around 4 years old, which means I’m mature… but also ZOOMY. First things first—have you SEEN my smile?! And my gorgeous blue eyes?! I am a very handsome guy and I would like you to admire me for at least a full 10 seconds. Thank you. Okay so yes, I might be a little shy at first. Just for a moment. A teeny tiny pause. And then BOOM—I warm up and suddenly I want ALL the affection. Pets? Yes. More pets? YES. Don’t stop. Ever. I really want to play and I have LOTS of energy and I am ALWAYS MOVING, but toys are… confusing? Like, what are they for? Are they snacks? Are they friends? I’m still figuring that part out. But I am absolutely ready to learn—with you! I would be AMAZING with an active family who wants to walk, play, explore, and keep up with my caffeinated lifestyle. I promise to bring joy, smiles, and nonstop entertainment. I’m available for adoption so hurry in to meet me—before I run another lap around the room! 📍 Pawsley is located at the Richland County Dog Shelter in Mansfield, OH 📞 419-774-5892 📧 dogs@richlandcountyoh.gov It is an application process. You can request one via email.

When he first arrived, I thought he was much older and that he would be a hospice case. He was stiff and frozen in fear and skinny. He would barely move. I put him in a kennel with younger dogs and he soon found his youthful spirit again and is like a different dog now. I don't know his age for sure but he has lots of life and happiness left in him and I think he is younger than 8. He weighs about 60 lbs now. He learned how to climb out of the 6 ft chain link kennel but he doesn't stray far from it except to follow me on walks. He goes down the pond to take a dip but mostly just hangs out by the kennel. So while he has the skills of a husky to escape, he doesn't have the urge of a husky to run off and go explore. I don't even put him up when I leave because he doesn't go anywhere. He is great with other dogs but sometimes doesn't know how big he is so he wouldn't be good around scared little dogs. Not because he would hurt them, but because they might get scared of him. He is fine with my chihuahuas but they are very bossy and not scared of anything. For that reason, I also don't think he should be around cats. To be clear, he is not aggressive at all, he just tries to play with everything and with his size that just wouldn't work with a dog or cats that's scared of him. He is very food motivated and walks well on the leash as well. He is an awesome boy and I am glad he didn't die at the kill shelter. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) - Vermont (Brattleboro) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative). Adoption fee: $550 (includes the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma and all vetting listed above) Adoption application (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 FAQs (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eb_SRtk1AzaBl87UltcLJ24MjH9UhQm_LE77iWZEQA/edit?tab=t.0 Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95
