Meet Hachi – A Friendly, Social Husky Looking for His Forever Home!   Name: Hachi Age: 4 years old Sex: Neutered Male Breed: Husky Color: Black / Brown / Beige Weight: 18.4 kg (40.5 lbs) Height: 52 cm (20.5 in) at the shoulder   Rescue Story   Hachi was rescued from a municipal shelter in 2024, where he was at risk of euthanasia. After his rescue, he stayed at a private shelter and recently moved to the AKR Center to prepare for his journey overseas and, hopefully, his forever home.   Social with People   Hachi is a friendly and affectionate boy who genuinely enjoys being around people. He happily approaches both familiar people and strangers, leans in for affection, and is comfortable being touched and petted.   He is friendly with both men and women and is comfortable being picked up with an arm under his belly.   Social with Other Dogs   Hachi is very social with other dogs. He readily approaches both familiar and unfamiliar dogs to say hello and invite them to play.   He is friendly with dogs of all sizes, although he especially enjoys playing with dogs around his own size. He does well even with higher-energy dogs and, if another dog tries to provoke him, he generally prefers to avoid conflict rather than engage.   When he finds a compatible playmate, he loves having fun together!   Cats   Hachi’s reaction to cats has not yet been observed. A cat test can be arranged for a serious applicant if needed.   Energy Level   Hachi has a moderate energy level. He enjoys walks, outdoor activities, and playtime, but once he has had his exercise, he settles down and relaxes quietly.   Walking   Hachi does tend to pull on the leash, so he will benefit from continued leash training. Overall, he is responsive to his handler and follows people well.   At Home & Other Behaviors   Hachi does not show food guarding toward either people or other dogs.   He is generally a quiet dog and rarely barks when people are around. However, when left alone, he may bark for attention, so he may need some gradual training and support to become more comfortable with alone time.   He remains calm when riding in a kennel/crate and knows how to get out of the car on his own. He does not experience motion sickness.   Hachi currently does his bathroom business outdoors.   Hachi is a wonderful combination of social, playful, affectionate, and easygoing. He loves people, gets along beautifully with other dogs, enjoys being active, and knows how to relax afterward. Hi… I’m Lala 💕 I’m a 3-year-old husky girl, about 15kg, a little smaller than most huskies—but perfectly squishy and cute if you ask me. I have odd eyes (yes, I know, they’re gorgeous 👀✨) and a fluffy body that’s made for hugs. My life didn’t start out easy. I was once on the list at a city shelter, but kind humans gave me a second chance. When I was rescued, I had heartworm, but it was caught early and I finished my treatment like a champ 💪 Now I’m healthy and ready to start my real life—with you. I love people. Like… really love them. I don’t care if we just met—I’ll happily come say hi, wag my tail, and ask for your attention. I adore gentle hands, affection, and being noticed. If you look at me, I’ll probably already be walking toward you 🥰 I get along great with other dogs too! I enjoy having friends and exploring the world together. On walks, I can be a little curious (okay… very curious 👃), so sometimes I pull on the leash. I’m learning though! With patience and consistency, I promise I can get better. Since I spent much of my puppyhood in a shelter, I’ve still got a playful, curious side and a whole lot of energy. I love walks and adventures, and I get really excited to explore new places. I’m super friendly! I get along well with other dogs and don’t shy away from strangers—I warm up fast and love making new friends. I sometimes bark if I really want something, but it’s not excessive—just a little “Hey! Notice me?” kind of bark.   On My Walks‍ Let’s just say… I get very excited at the start. I’ll pull toward all the interesting smells, sights, and sounds and maybe insist on walking my own route. But once I’ve burned off that first burst of energy, I settle down and walk much more calmly. Honey is completely blind, but don’t let that fool you—her lack of sight doesn’t slow this amazing girl down much at all! Once she settles into a home, Honey quickly learns the layout and becomes surprisingly confident navigating her surroundings. House trained & crate trained Good with calmer dogs Has been good with the cats she has met No known allergies & a good eater Very loving and affectionate Because Honey is blind, she would do best in a quieter home with older children or no children. She can become excited and will jump up on people for love and attention, something her foster family is patiently working on with her. Honey does well with other calm dogs who understand that they shouldn’t jump on or bump into her. She enjoys going for walks on a long leash in open spaces, where she can take her time sniffing and experiencing the world around her. Pipo (pronounced Peepo) is a 5-year-old male, roughly 40 pounds. He appears to be a cross of some kind, perhaps husky and border collie. He is energetic, shy, bouncy, highly alert: just the gentlest, sweetest disposition and again, very affectionate. Pipo loves nothing more than to snuggle on the couch, or in bed. He is neutered, microchipped and 95 per cent house-trained -- but can occasionally lapse if left alone in the house too long. He is very good with people and dogs. His main issue is with cyclists: if they come near him he will lunge suddenly towards them, not aggressively but just out of excitement. His recall is not great and he likes to jump, so any off-leash any off-leash activity, at least in the short term, MUST be in a fully-enclosed space, with a high fence.  He currently lives with 2 dogs and would do well with another neutral or meek dog in the home. Pipo is quite sensitive and needs a very gentle home. His ideal home would be one where he is the centre of attention, where he can cuddle on the couch and bed. A home with someone who is experienced with rescued dogs and reactivity, and only uses positive reinforcement. Hi, I’m Rian 💛 I’m a 5-year-old boy, a Malamute–Husky mix, and I weigh about 23kg. I know… I look big and strong, maybe even a little cool. But if you get to know me, you’ll see—I’m actually just a big softie. I really, really love people. Even if we’ve just met, I might come right up to you like, “Hi… can we be friends?” I love being close to my person. Spending time together, making eye contact, sharing quiet moments… that’s what makes me feel safe and happy. Once I open my heart, I become very affectionate. I’ll want to stay near you, lean into you, and just be by your side as much as I can. I get along well with other dogs too! I have a gentle nature and enjoy playing, whether it’s with toys or with friends. I’m a bright, cheerful boy who just enjoys life and companionship. I was rescued from a place where my time was almost over… but I didn’t lose my trust in people. I still believe in love, and I’m still reaching out for it. I’m also a pretty quick learner! Thanks to the people who believed in me, I've been able to leave my past behind and look forward to a brighter future. Now I'm excited to find a loving forever family and begin the next chapter of my journey, surrounded by love, happiness, and new adventures.   MY HEALTH All vaccinations up-to-date Neutered & healthy with no known health issues   MY PERSONALITY Hi, I'm Bach! I'm a big, easygoing boy with an even bigger personality. Around here, I'm something of a legend— because I absolutely loved the challenge of seeing what I could climb over! Fences, gates, kennel walls... if it could be jumped, I considered it my personal obstacle course. Once I mastered every challenge, though, I happily retired from my "engineering projects" and decided life was much better spent relaxing. These days, I still prefer hopping over a low gate instead of using the open door—it has become more of a funny habit than anything else! Despite my adventurous streak, I'm one of the gentlest dogs you'll ever meet. I adore people, get along beautifully with every dog I meet, and I'm even wonderfully respectful of small dogs and neighborhood cats. Nothing seems to ruffle my feathers, and after a little fun, I'm perfectly content to stretch out for a nap as if the world could never possibly be in a hurry. My calm, steady nature has earned me the reputation of being everyone's dependable friend—like the wise, longtime neighborhood guardian who quietly watches over everyone. If you're looking for a loyal, gentle giant with an unforgettable personality, a great sense of humor, and the sweetest heart, I think we might just be the perfect match.   MY SOCIAL SKILLS · With People: I absolutely love being around people! Whether we've known each other for years or we're meeting for the very first time, I'll happily come over to say hello, lean against you, and soak up all the pets and affection you have to offer. Once we've become friends, I'll happily roll over and show you my belly—a special sign that I trust you completely. I'm also comfortable being gently picked up, making it easy to care for and cuddle me. I haven't had the opportunity to meet children under 13 yet, so I'm still looking forward to discovering what they're like. · With Dogs: I'm polite and well-mannered around other dogs. I'll usually walk over to say hello when we meet, but I'm not much of a playmate and generally prefer doing my own thing. I don't pay much attention to other dogs and am happy to peacefully coexist. · With Cats: My reaction to cats is unknown   ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY I have low energy level – I have a calm, gentle nature. While I enjoy going for leisurely walks and spending time outdoors, I'm happiest relaxing by my person's side and enjoying a peaceful day together. I'm an experienced walker with excellent leash manners, so I stay close to my person, walk without pulling, and make a wonderful companion for quiet strolls.   TRAINING & HABITS I'm easygoing when it comes to mealtime and don't feel the need to guard my food from people or other dogs. I'm a quiet companion who rarely barks. When I'm in my kennel, I may whine a little because I'd much rather be close to my people, but I settle well with reassurance and a consistent routine. I generally prefer doing my business outside during my walks. I may be tempted to mark in unfamiliar places, but with patience, consistency, and gentle guidance, I can quickly learn the house rules in my new home.   MY IDEAL HOME I’m searching for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself.
