He gets excited with joy when he sees new people and is a goofy boy who loves to sing and howl. He will test boundaries with people he doesn't know, but with proper structure, routine, and boundaries he has so much potential of being a great boy. He has being improving in a shelter environment, staff can only imagine how he will do in a home. He will need management with his resource guarding. He would not be allowed raw hide, for this is one of his triggers. He would not be able to run free around the house unsupervised for when he is settling in. he will be like bringing in a new puppy into the house, he will need to be taught boundaries and learn the routine of the home. Once he gets settled in and builds that relationship with you, he's such a lovely boy and has so much love and affection to give

Story
Crae / Male / 4Y / 75 lbs / Husky Chow Mix / Big Cuddle Bug / Could Live with Other Dogs / Good with Dog-savvy Children / Unknown with Cats / Fostered in Oshawa / Instagram: @fostertails_crae Meet Crae! Crae was surrendered to Fetch by his owners where they moved out of the country and could not take him with them. The change has thrown him for a loop but he is adjusting well to foster care. With his trusted people he is a very sweet and clingy boy that loves kisses, hugs, belly rubs and having his chest scratched. His fosters describe him as affectionate, snuggly, sweet, calm, gentle, and loving. Crae loves being outdoors either going for walks or exploring the yard. He loves his treat dispensing toys and chewing on kongs. His favourite thing is cuddling and getting belly rubs from his humans. Crae is a mix of two breeds that typically require an owner with some dog experience, and one that is comfortable handling a larger dog. His new family should also understand the importance of daily physical exercise and mental stimulation. True to his breeds, Crae is an active dog that needs an outlet for his energy. He would do best with an active family that can stick to a consistent routine of exercise and play for Crae. In the house with people he knows, Crae is very friendly and loveable. He will ask for pets and belly rubs and is generally calm and easy going. He is calm when guests come into the home and will accept treats but takes a bit of time before he wants pets or cuddles. Once he knows you, he is very friendly and sticks close for pets and scritches. On leash, Crae is content to meet people who approach respectfully. He tends to get very excited and pull quite a bit on the first part of the walk, but once he has done his business he will settle. He loves to sniff and explore, especially if he is in a new or unfamiliar place. He is also curious towards squirrels, rabbits, and other critters and will try to pull if something catches his interest. His fosters are working on proper leash etiquette with him, including “heel”, and Crae responds best when he is on a familiar route or if there are treats on offer. Crae gets at least 3 walks a day, a longer one in the morning and evening, and a shorter one in the afternoon. He also gets time in the yard. Crae responds well to enrichment activities, training, and treat dispensing toys. He usually gets at least 15 minutes of enrichment or training a day. On days when his fosters are busier with work, Crae is perfectly content to hang by himself with a kong and will be calm until it is time to go out again. Crae has been left alone in the home for up to four hours and has done very well, as long as he’s had a good walk beforehand. He is left to free roam the house and has never been destructive. He may whine for a few minutes when first left but will quickly settle down and is usually found lounging, sleeping, or playing with his kong. Crae likes to move around in the night and go between a few different sleeping spots. He may alert bark if there is unfamiliar activity outside so he is kept away from external windows and doors. Crae has previously lived with children and would do fine with dog-savvy kids that will respect his space. He enjoys playing with human siblings but there should always be an adult present to ensure a safe interaction for both Crae and the kids. Crae loves to play with other dogs (and people!) at the dog park but can be selective of other dogs while on leash. He would do best as the only dog in the home, although he has previously lived with other dogs, it took him some time to warm up. He could live with other dogs with proper and slow introductions. If his future home had other dogs, a meet and greet would need to be arranged as part of the adoption process. Crae has not been cat tested but may chase. Crae is super trainable and treat motivated. Training him is lots of fun. He responds very quickly for any reward. He knows sit, down, stay, come, roll over, paw, other paw, has good recall and is working on heel. Crae will need continued leash training. Crae is fully potty trained. Crae’s ideal home would be one where he can get plenty of physical and mental stimulation every day. He loves being outdoors so a yard to hang out in or plenty of walks would be best for him. Crae reacts to unknown noises or movements outside the house so a quieter neighbourhood would be best. Crae seems to be anxious during car rides. He does best if one of his humans sits in the back with him, to offer reassurance / treats. Crae has lived with children and other dogs before and has enjoyed socializing in off leash dog parks, and could live with children or other dogs who are properly introduced and respect his space. If you’re interested in adopting Crae, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Crae’s adoption fee is $700. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Axel is 3 yrs old and weighs 50 lbs. He was rescued by an Egyptian woman after she spotted him in a Cairo pet shop, stuck for several months in a cage that was way too small for his size and being manhandled by the shop owner. She bought him out of pity to get him out of this abusive situation. Axel is playful, happy, outgoing, adventurous, occasionally vocal, affectionate and sweet. Highly energetic. Very playful, he can get carried away with mouthing and sometimes playnips when at play. Axel is very friendly and open towards strangers and will not hesitate to dive straight in for human affection. He LOVES being complimented and receiving attention.. Axel can be assertive at times and let out howls when he wants attention. If he needs to go out, he will walk to the human who he is the most comfortable with and stare at them. Once you lock eyes with him, he will wag his tail and howl to let you know he needs to go outside. If you don’t lock eyes with him, he will let out a few grunts and whines to get your attention. He will only sometimes bark during playtime (mostly during a stare-down contest). He playfully growls whenever he plays tug-a-war with his toys. He tends to bark and cry when he sees other dogs because he wants to meet them. Axel is very quiet outside of playtime and usually spends his time sleeping. He is friendly towards visitors and strangers, all ages and both genders. Axel tends to be gentler with seniors/elderly people and children, reducing his reactions to sniffing their hands and giving kisses to their faces. With teenagers and adults, he is more likely to be excited and may stand up to greet them. Axel is not initially friendly towards other dogs when they are around his owners, he tends to be protective of them and be leash reactive so proper intro is required. He has taken a 2-week dog behaviour-training program, where he showed friendliness towards other dogs of varying sizes, breeds, and genders when his owners weren’t present. Axel is trustworthy and can be given free reins when home alone: yes, but do not leave the following around: Axel is well housebroken and is very good at holding his bladder. He is leash trained but pulls when he sees other dogs or small animals. He sits and gives paws for a treat. Say “gentle” and he will take it gently. Axel is very smart and has learned several commands sit, stay, no, go to bed, lay down/lie down, bad dog, good boy, yes, paw, other paw, “can you sing” (will howl in response), “enough” (will stop howling), come here, time for bed, let’s go. Responds to whistles. He is crate trained and remains quiet, but does not like being crated He cooperates during shampoo and rinse. Will nuzzle himself closer to you during towel-drying. IDEAL ADOPTIVE CANDIDATE: active, outdoorsy adults, who has time to dedicate to an energetic dog, well experienced with large breed dogs, preferably familiar with the husky breed and live in a house with a large securely fenced backyard for extra exercise.

Cheekoo | Spayed Female | 1 Year | Husky Mix | 48 Pounds | Crate Trained: Yes | Dogs: Yes | Cats: No | Kids: Yes | Meet Cheekoo! Cheekoo joined us from a remote northern community along the James Bay coast. She was only just a young dog herself and had 4 puppies, Whisper, Ocean, Shelby, and Luna! (Whisper is still looking for a home!) Cheekoo is a fantastic dog who loves being around people and other dogs. She loves to play with toys and enjoys games like tug and fetch. Cheekoo is a higher energy dog that would be happy to join you on long walks and hikes! An active family is ideal! She is very affectionate, loves a good snuggle, and is very eager to please. Cheekoo is doing very well in her foster home falling perfectly into routine! She is doing great with the other dogs. And though she has been around cats, she does like to chase them so a cat free home is probably best. She is a quick learner and is very focused when you have a delicious treat. Cheekoo is looking for her paw-fect home. Is it you? Cheekoo is spayed , microchipped, and is current on vaccines. She is being fostered in Burlington, ON. 📌 Apply to Adopt! ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️ https://forms.gle/Yw6mFZVLod1nm9fR6
