Story
Adventure-seeking, nose-following, smart, and playful Husky seeks forever guardian(s) to adventure with, play with, and snuggle! Klondike is our 62 lb, about 4-year-old Husky fella who *loves* a sniffing adventure and would likely excel in a nosework class with his guardian. He has gone on hikes with staff and loves the adventure. He loves his enrichment—both mental and physical—as well as a nice nap after his needs are met. He’s an active guy looking for an active home with a fenced yard. He’s done so well in our yards here at POOCH—he’s never tried to go over or under the fences, which is A+++ for a Husky! He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all of his vaccinations. Being the smarty pants that I am, my friends here at POOCH are helping me be my best self through appropriate enrichment: playing, sniffing, shredding, brain games, food dispensing toys, and learning! I have done well playing with my dog friend here at POOCH, so if you have another dog we could see if we can be friends, or I could be your one and only as well—I’m a flexible fella! I am neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all of my vaccinations. If you’re ready to be adventurous together, meet my amazingly special mental needs, and be rewarded with lots of love and fur on your clothes, fill out an application to be my forever person today! Likes: People! Being outside! Other dogs! Agility games & equipment. Dislikes: Not being able to be active. Get more info at pooch.org/klondike

Dog meet and greets are by appointment only, please answer the questions below the bio, either through Petfinder, Adopt-A-Pet, Rescueme.org or by directly e-mailing us at shelter@hbpets.org. Please be patient, we try and get back to you as quick as possible. Longest dog resident: 509 days, that is how long Luca has been at our shelter, 509 days, as of 1/23/24. We don't understand why, Luca was transferred from a county shelter in 2022, he was tagged to be euthanized due to overcrowding. They reached out and we took him in. He is a little over 2yrs, he is past the "husky escape artists phase", he loves all other dogs and most people. He makes us laugh everyday with his goofy personality, he loves water of any kind, whether that be our doggie pools or the muddy pond that shows up in the winter time in our field. He knows sit, stay, leave-it, kennel and handsome boy (he tilts his head). He walks the field with us, off leash, his recall is 90%, he loves to play, he loves car rides, to be brushed and most importantly he wants to be with his humans. He would love to have a husky experienced home, with no cat. My adoption fee is $150: This includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines, microchip, dewormer, flea treatment and a 1 pound bag of food they are currently on. 1. Do you own or rent? 2. Do you have a private fenced yard? 3. Do you go hiking, jogging or do physical activities that he can be a part of? 4. How many people and age groups live in your home? 5. How many animals, types and what they are like! 6. Do you have time to continue his leash manners? 7. How many hours a day will he be alone? 8. Please tell us more about how he would spend his days and what activities you would plan!

Gunner is a 1 year old affectionate, loving, high-energy, good boi. He knows all his basic obedience cues & is so tuned into his human that he almost anticipates what you are wanting from him before you even teach him a new cue. Gunner will 100% bond with you &, once bonded, will do anything or go anywhere you want. He lives for his human! I am a dog trainer & agreed to take Gunner on as a boarding client for his previous owner who abandoned him in my care & never came back. I can offer free ongoing training to anyone who adopts him local to Salem, OR. If you are not local, I can offer free ongoing training via Zoom. I can also transport to anywhere in Oregon, Southern Washington, North Cali or Southwestern Idaho. This is your ride or die dog! Please help Gunner find his Furever home!

Story
Kooper is looking for his new people. Unfortunately after owning him for just over six years, I am no longer able to provide him the best environment to live in. Kooper has a four year old human sister who has not learned to respect his boundaries, and who is having a very difficult time learning. This process of trying to learn and respect his boundaries has gone on for about a year now. He is very tolerant of her and has chosen to just walk away from her when his boundaries are not respected, but we would hate to see the situation escalate. He would do much better in a home with older children who can understand his boundaries, or in a family without children. Kooper is between 6 and 7, I got him in September of 2017 and was told he was about six months old at the time. I had him neutered when I got him. He has current vaccinations, and is a healthy dog with great energy. He is an indoor dog and potty trained.

Story
You remember the 80's, the car named Kit?? Had David Hasselhoff as his driver and sure had a lot of fun and adventures :) I kind of LOOK like David Hasselhoff (if I do say so myself) and I am SMARTER than the car, Kit!! Again, if I do say so myself :D So, speaking of cars.... i was run over by one (or maybe it was a truck :( I don't remember, all I know is I ended up in a bad way and at the pound. Both my back legs broken and my hip was dislocated as well. That is how the rescue found me, my beautiful David Hasselhoff eyes pled through the sad photo and the rescue chick said, "uh, yes, lets save sweet boy". And that is how my life BEGAN again! I have had my hip surgery, called an FHO, and that was on my GOOD LEG!!! But as God would smile His favor on me, my other leg started HEALING WELL while I recovered from the surgery! Therefore I did not have to have my other leg amputated!! As a pup, the ability of my body to heal is amazing! So, here I am! Ready for adoption! I do have a hitch in my giddyup, but really nothing compared to how I was after the accident. I am a SURVIVOR!! His foster mom states, " Kit is an amazing pup, smart and determined! He taught himself the doggy door in one day, is good with the kitties, great with all other dogs and all people. He will be missed in his foster home, he has the determination of a tough pup and the sweet love of a spoiled pup :) Whoever adopts him will have a great companion!" AdOPT the BROKEN pups, THEY WILL LOVE YOU EVEN MORE!!! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $500 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)
