Story
meet Steve! Up to date on rabies. Good with our 4 and 10 year old. loves riding shotgun, long runs in the sand on the beach. would enjoy a yard, but our apartment was fine as long as he was exercised. loves his peanut butter mat, fetch! He loves runs. never had a single health problem in our time with him. rehoming because he goes after our cat and also cant dedicate enough time for him to thrive. My husband works, also leaves for military sometimes for a month, and in school. I watch the kids,&my son is disabled, which requires all of my left over attention. —-no adoption fee because he’s not neutered—-

Story
Rory is one of those dogs who just blossoms when she knows she’s safe and loved. From the moment her foster got her home she knew she was going to going to get to see her in full bloom and she absolutely has. Although I spent a few hours with Rory, enjoyed her company and got to know her more, most all of what is shared here is from her devoted foster. With a front row seat she has the best view. Take a look at her beautiful view, get to know Rory a little more and then come back to read more. https://youtu.be/uApRznAenJU At home, Rory’s an absolute sweetheart. No accidents here! She’ll let you know when she needs to go out, usually by whining and giving you that classic “let me out, please!” look. She’s a big fan of toys and loves playing fetch, though she might not always bring it back to you, its kind of her way of taking a break. She’s definitely part couch potato too – or in her case chair potato. Her favorite place to curl up is on the armchair, where she goes from happily watching TV with you to full on snoring. You’ll still be able to hear the tv though, they are just quiet little snores. Rory is estimated to be 5 years old, weighs 57 lbs, and may be a husky/lab mix. Of course, she is a rescue so age and breed are not details we can guarantee. Rory’s foster praises her for being friendly with people and great with kids. She shared that her two- and three-year-old niece and nephew adored her, and she was always so gentle and patient with them. On top of a variety of dogs, Rory met a two-month-old puppy during a recent visit at a family friends house and had fun playing and was so sweet on him. She lives with dogs and has met all sorts of dogs, big, small, young to old. She can be a bit shy during on-leash greetings but is polite and if she is not feeling comfortable she will simply keep on walking. Rory is definitely more of a dog-companion than a dog-playmate with her best match being easy-going dogs that don’t feel the need to push or insist she play. She doesn’t mind gently letting them know in her own doggy way that she isn’t interested and then moves on. Rory has basic leash skills and continues to learn in new environments. She recently got to tag-along for a pet-store run and was very polite but a little unsure of walking next to the cart but settled in after just a few minutes. Clearly she is a smart cookie and picks things up quickly. Her foster has praised her crate manners, calling her a rock star! She is quiet and settles into sleep easily. She also knows basic commands including “sit”and “lay down.” She also learns quickly and takes correction well. We would love to see Rory in a home with a yard, adding a family with kids to that scene would be the true dream. Rory does not need another dog in the home, her people and a few toys will fill her bucket each and every day. The only no we would encourage is no cats. Her foster has cats and will attest to her attempts to get a good game of chase in when she first met them. They are kept separate now after one curious moment turned into a little too much excitement, so a cat-free home is best. Overall, Rory is a loving, fun, and smart pup who’s just waiting to be part of your family. She’s come so far in such a short time and is ready to keep learning and loving with you by her side. If you’re looking for a loyal buddy who’s as happy exploring the world as she is snuggling up for TV time, Rory’s your girl! Ready to make the first move? You can join along on our private Facebook event page to follow their adventure, connecting you with other adopters and providing updates throughout their transport journey! You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience!  The adoption fee is $900 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectible, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!  We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.  Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!  Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission! Story
3 yr old white M Siberian Husky Notes from his foster:  Chip is a very loving and intelligent. What an amazing dog! He has so much love to give, yet at the same time he has high energy! The husky traits are definitely there like talking to you, of which is  moaning and somewhat of a soft howl. His new adopters should be aware of what those traits are and with any negative ones he is trainable. But it needs to be a constant reminder to him, he is very trainable as an intelligent pup could be! He loves laying on the couch next to his human. He'll either lay his head on you or lay with half of his body on you, which means he wants loving!   The shelter estimates Chip to be 3 years, I challenge his age to be at least a year    younger. I've looked at his teeth, evaluated his boundless energy, and when playing with other dogs, he acts like a pup.   He does well with indoor cats, but he sometimes goes up and sniffs them like he's checking to make sure they are ok.  If he is outside and one runs away he will chase it -supervision is a must   It's not a good idea to have small animals like rabbits, guinea pigs or hamsters. Due to the huskey's high prey drive! Chip would be great in an active home that loves the outdoors and is busy with outdoors activities with him, like hiking or swimming. He loves water so much that he plays in his water bowl and likes to bite at the water coming out of the hose. Thankfully he's learning to do it outside in his water bowl only. The daily walks which    he needs, he has been doing extremely well on not pulling, except at the beginning or if another owner/dog is walking by. He'll pull because he is very excited to meet them. I have him sit and calm him down until they have gone by. He loves car rides to a fault. If a neighbor gets in their car and starts it up he will continue running around the car until you call him off. But keep attention on him because he's known to run after the car, like let me in, you forgot me!   Chip would do best in a cold weather environment. We haven't had time to take him to the snow but I can imagine him loving it! He loves to go out on the deck late at night. He lays with his nose in the air, wide awake enjoying the cold night. Then he comes in and either jumps on the bed partially laying on me. Or if I'm rolled    over towards the middle of the bed, he'll lay on the bed along the edge. Always waiting to be petted. And yes, we do have other pets but once he moved in, he took over everything! If something is on the floor and becomes missing whether it's a dog item or an item of his human, Chip has most likely picked it up and moved it somewhere else. He does know how to share. He is not food aggressive, will let my labradoodle eat out of his bowl with him. And he shares all of the other pets toys he took over. When all the pets are resting or it is bedtime, his high energy is gone and he calms down to a resting state, sleeping too.   He does need a home with another younger high energy dog to play with, my 2 15 year old Yorkies are not playmates. My 5 year oldlabradoodle adopted as apuppy    during COVID did not learn how to play with dogs. She sure knows how to play with Chip whether she wants to or not. She always runs out of energy way before he does. Chip might even bless a family with another high energy dog. They will wear each other out. And eventhough my Yorkies don't play he has learned to leave them alone occasionally forgetting and dangles a toy over their head as they show their growling teeth, so he moves on.   Chip is very friendly with people one of the only things he hasn't learned is not to jump up on the person. He's so excited to meet someone new,  that to get their attention he thinks they needs to be eye to eye. Kids he has had little exposure. He will do well with kids just needs an adult there to watch over until he calms down with his     excitement. He is also vey dog friendly unless the other dog turns aggressive on him he will respond back to correct Most of all he becomes very attached to his humans and loves them MOST of all !!!   ##2559846##
