Story
I met Buster 08/13/25 when I found him outside my gate when I came home from work. On 08/16 Buster’s owner came looking for him, a homeless man. It was hard to let Buster go knowing his living situation but to see how happy his owner and him were to reunite made me realize they were each others half. Since then I had been going to visit Buster and his owner under the bridge and bringing Buster home a few times a month to bathe him, feed him and just spend some time with him. Buster was not neutered and the man would not use a leash so Buster would wander off sometimes and get lost. On 01/12/26 I saw Buster’s picture on the next door app and upon doing some research I found out he had been taken to the shelter. His owner came looking for him at my house and he explained he had been placed in a shelter and had to get clearance. He asked if I could help get Buster out so he could take him to the shelter so I adopted Buster for him but he has not returned since 01/20/26. I hope he’s okay.

Story
Belly is the sweetest most affectionate dog. It breaks my heart writing this but our home just isn’t the right one for her. She isn’t good with kids as she gets spooked easily and we have a 2 year old that wants to love her and jump on her. Belly is very energetic and likes belly rubs. She is extremely loyal and protective. She plays well with other dogs but can be reactive to certain dogs while on a leash. She is 3 years old and would make a perfect companion for anyone without small children at home.

Story
Meet Dexter, a 10 year old Jack Russell mix. Dexter has lived in his current home for 10 years and has seen many changes. Early in his little life a more aggressive dog joined their family who bullied him. This taught him to become possessive of his food and his toys to the point where he also became aggressive in how he deals with people or dogs who get too near. He has also gone from a home with a yard to a small apartment so he doesn't have much room to stretch his legs. Dexter enjoys being active with walks, runs and dog parks. He is cuddly and will curl up for a nap with you wherever you are. He doesn't mind baths and isn’t afraid of thunderstorms. The ideal family for Dexter is one that is active but that doesn’t have other dogs or small children. Does Dexter sound like the dog for you? ALICE-Special Needs/Sponsors IMPORTANT: The Nature Network Inc. is a small 501c3 non-profit no-kill organization. Most animals we rescue are abandoned at the pound, who no one wants--seniors and special-needs. 100% of all funds are used for them—extensive veterinary and medical costs, prescription meds, rehab, special foods, supplements, and more. We are deeply grateful for help. To meet us, help us, or if you know people or businesses who would like to, please contact us at: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (Also our PayPal Giving email address for donation and sponsorship). Mailing: The Nature Network Inc., 3826 Grand View Blvd., #66790, Los Angeles, CA 90066. All donations are used for our rescued animals. No funds are used for salaries, advertising, social media, or human expenses. All of us, including board members, are volunteers. Our veterinary references are available upon request. ALICE is a Jack Russell/Bull Terrier unusual mix. Alice is sponsorship only at this point, as she has damaged ankles and toes and her right eye needed to be removed. She was rescued from one of the Los Angeles City Animal Shelters just in time. She was slated for death because they claimed she was still on medication, which in fact she no longer was! Alice now receives cold laser treatment to her various joints every week which has enabled her to move about well and be able to walk more smoothly without the pain that she had before. Her treatment has also shrunk the swelling on her ankle joints. Her right eye was beginning to cause pain and no longer responding to 5 different glaucoma medications for over a year and had to be removed. Her remaining left eye is now healthier, and she can see out of it much better. Since Alice has damaged/deformed toes and feet, and missing her right eye, gets ongoing cold laser treatment, and various eye medications to keep her left eye healthy, we need sponsors who would like to help her.. To sponsor and know more about Alice and her issues, please contact: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (also our PayPal donation/sponsorship email address)

Story
DARWIN is currently special-needs as he recovers from an abusive home, and so far he is doing well with rehab, but we still have a way to go. Darwin is a wonderful, affectionate, and loving boy. Although he likes playing fetch and chasing his ball, he equally enjoys being a couch potato and cuddling and sleeping. He is often quiet, and unlike many of the higher-energy Jack Russells. He is friendly and sweet but terribly fearful, and is an indoor dog since he has white, very fine hair, can sunburn easily, and also freeze in the winter. Darwin is housetrained, walks well on his leash, obeys simple commands, and is friendly with other friendly dogs, both female and male, and smaller dogs. Darwin is about 8 years old and is neutered. Darwin’s parents split up and neither one of them was able to keep Darwin. Darwin is a smooth-coat Jack Russell with perhaps a tiny touch of Corgi. For more information about DARWIN, please contact us at: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (also our PayPal Giving donation and sponsorship email address)

ANITA: Jack Russell Mix / Spayed Female / 1 Year / 24 Pounds HOUSE-TRAINED, PLAYFUL, AFFECTIONATE! ANITA. is a loving, gentle, docile and easygoing young girl. She sleeps comfortably in a crate, gets along well with other dogs, and is quiet in the home; she rarely barks and isn’t destructive. Now she is ready for a safe, loving home where she can continue to be the sweet, devoted little dog she is. ANITA, was abandoned along with her puppy in an empty house. A neighbor had been hearing a puppy crying for several days. So he started looking for the source of the noises and that's how he found them hungry and thirsty. They were taken to a safe place and given all the care they needed. In the canine heart, there is always hope. Every dog deserves a safe and loving home. Adopt a rescue dog today; we are their voice! Story
MILLIE is a lovely adult/senior, 8 pounds, girl Rat Terrier whose senior human dad passed away, leaving Millie and her four little companions, Cookie, Shorty, Poopsy, and Missy, without their dad. They all get along really well, are house trained, and also know to use pads to do their business indoors, and at night, and when it's raining or very cold out. They are not barkers, only barking to warn that someone is at or near the front door, and then they settle down again. They are great with cats because their housemates have been six (6) cats! If shown a lot of affection and understanding when welcomed into their new homes, we are sure these lovely kiddos will do well in a loving new home even if they don’t stay together. IMPORTANT NOTE: Recently the number of deaths from hungry coyote attacks has greatly increased. Coyotes can climb 10 foot fences with a small to medium sized dog in their jaws. This happens in broad daylight in the middle of the day, and on trails while hiking with your dog on a leash, it is truly unbelievable, and we have frightening first-hand accounts. We are listing these lovely pups to help their current foster/rescue in finding them wonderful new homes. All four girl pups are spayed, Shorty is neutered, and all of them current on vaccines. To learn more about Millie (Cookie, Shorty, Poopsy, and Missy), please contact us at: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (also our PayPal email for donations and sponsorships).
