ALICE is a Jack Russell/Bull Terrier unusual mix. Alice is sponsorship only at this point, as she has damaged ankles and toes and her right eye needed to be removed. She was rescued from one of the Los Angeles City Animal Shelters just in time. She was slated for death because they claimed she was still on medication, which in fact she no longer was! Alice now receives cold laser treatment to her various joints every week which has enabled her to move about well and be able to walk more smoothly without the pain that she had before. Her treatment has also shrunk the swelling on her ankle joints. Her right eye was beginning to cause pain and no longer responding to 5 different glaucoma medications for over a year and had to be removed. Her remaining left eye is now healthier, and she can see out of it much better. Since Alice has damaged/deformed toes and feet, and missing her right eye, gets ongoing cold laser treatment, and various eye medications to keep her left eye healthy, we need sponsors who would like to help her.. Story

DARWIN is currently special-needs as he recovers from an abusive home, and so far he is doing well with rehab, but we still have a way to go. Darwin is a wonderful, affectionate, and loving boy. Although he likes playing fetch and chasing his ball, he equally enjoys being a couch potato and cuddling and sleeping. He is often quiet, and unlike many of the higher-energy Jack Russells. He is friendly and sweet but terribly fearful, and is an indoor dog since he has white, very fine hair, can sunburn easily, and also freeze in the winter. Darwin is housetrained, walks well on his leash, obeys simple commands, and is friendly with other friendly dogs, both female and male, and smaller dogs. Darwin is about 8 years old and is neutered. Darwin’s parents split up and neither one of them was able to keep Darwin. Darwin is a smooth-coat Jack Russell with perhaps a tiny touch of Corgi. Percy is a 4 year old neutered male Jack Russell Terrier Mix who was originally found as a stray and later surrendered by his owner who could no longer keep him. This energetic little guy has a playful personality and loves keeping busy learning new tricks. Percy enjoys spending time with both kids and dogs, making him a wonderful companion for a fun and active family! Nova is a wonderful dog. Every pet sitter always raves about her. She's sweet and playful. I don't want to rehome her, but my current situation is such that I just know she isn't getting the best care with me anymore. In the past year I lost my job and had my first baby. I'm currently looking for work again in this terrible market, while caring for my baby full-time during the day solo. My husband works long hours and helps where he can. But it's just a lot that's all on me right now. Nova deserves to be outside more. To have that daily interaction and love that I'm limited on giving her since I'm spread so thin with my baby. I'm sleep deprived and exhausted and have so little to give. Nova is stuck in a small 1 bedroom apartment and with my baby starting to become mobile, I have to crate her a lot. She deserves better. I got Nova in 2018, so she's around 9 or 10 YO. She's full of life and love. It would definitely be a hard transition for all of us, but I know it's best for her.

Meet Kyuhyun 5 years old 9.3 kg (20.5 lbs) 41 cm shoulder height Terrier Mix Beige Neutered Male Rescue Story Kyuhyun was rescued from a municipal shelter in June 2021 when he was just about one month old. He spent nearly five years living in a shelter before coming to AKR to prepare for his journey to a loving forever home. ‍‍ Social with People Having spent his entire life in a shelter environment, Kyuhyun is still gaining confidence in new surroundings. He may be slightly shy at first, but he warms up quickly—especially if treats are involved! Once he feels comfortable, he can be easily handled and petted, even by people he has just met. He is comfortable being picked up and enjoys the company of both men and women. Kyuhyun has not been around children under 13, but based on his gentle and calm temperament, he may do well with respectful older children. Social with Other Dogs Kyuhyun is polite and friendly with other dogs. He greets unfamiliar dogs nicely, though he does not always engage in active play. He especially enjoys the company of dogs his own size or smaller. While he is not fearful of large dogs, he tends not to interact with them much. High-energy dogs can feel overwhelming to him, and if another dog is pushy or confrontational, Kyuhyun typically chooses to walk away rather than react. Cats Kyuhyun has not been tested with cats, but a cat test can be arranged upon request. Energy Level Kyuhyun has a low to medium energy level. He enjoys outdoor walks and exploring, but once he gets home, he settles down nicely and is content to relax. He is an easy dog to live with and would fit well into many different households. Walking & Leash Skills Kyuhyun walks very well on leash and naturally matches his handler’s pace. In busier or noisier areas, such as roads with heavy traffic, he may become a bit hesitant. However, he looks to his person for reassurance and gains confidence when encouraged gently. Car & Crate Kyuhyun rides quietly in a crate and handles car rides well. He may need a little assistance getting into the car, but he does not appear to experience significant motion sickness.
